I still have the 1973 vinyl, but on purchasing the 50th anniversary book I decided also to purchase the 180 gram vinyl re-issue. The music speaks for itself in standing the test of time. I am happy to have the re-issue, which comes complete with replicated printed matter as had the original. Perhaps I'll need a third copy, as the book tells that two covers and the gatefold spread out to form the complete prism design.

To this day it is one of the best albums. Songs are crisp. I mean what else do you want me to say? You guys are the ones emailing me to do a review yet you're telling me it has to be a certain length and so many sentences long.

This album sounds every bit as good as the EMI version I bought in the mid '90s, only it has no manufacturing defects. When playing my old EMI pressing of Dark Side of the Moon using a Moving Magnet caridcartridge, a single pop sound could be heard. When I changed to a Moving Coil Cartridge, this "pop" noise became a skip😔 A skip is unacceptable. So I replaced the album.

Great album, garbage pressing was newly wrapped but had a scratch on side two, spots stained into the vinyl on side one and static throughout. Walmart does not know how to take care of vinyl. This is the worst I have gotten there looks used and wrapped as new.
Delivered very fast and in perfect condition. No issues. Perfectly flat 180 gram vinyl LP and sounds great! The first time I ordered the album (Walmart but different vender) I never received it. Shipped it to the wrong address but Walmart provided refund. This time around Walmart used Movie Mars, Inc. and no issues. Received in 3 days.
I have the original MoFi OMR LP of this album that I purchased new back in the early 80s and I can say the pressing quality of this Columbia version compares favorably to it. Actually, I'd say it's better given the higher disc weight (OMR LPs back then were not 180g) and the newer, and therefore cleaner (I was living in a dorm when I bought this) vinyl. I would recommend if you are sitting on the fence about buying it vs other options.
Nothing more needs to be said about this album. I was hoping it would be better sounding than the 2011 CD. It is to some extent, but it's similar in dynamics. Also, the pressing I received has a lot more surface noise than I would expect at this price point. I'm going to to give it a good wash and listen again. All that aside, it is amazing and worthy of its reputation.
Normally I don’t like writing bad reviews. But I had to say that I was not impressed with purchase.Packing was impeccable by Music Direct and the album was delivered in a timely manor. Was excited to have a new version of this masterpiece for my collection. Especially since it was remastered from the original analog tapes and put on 180 gram vinyl. After receiving my album I gave it a cleaning with my VPI record cleaner. I do this with all my albums. To get rid of any loose material from the pressing and packing. But was sadly disappointed from the start as my ears started to hear clicks and pops from the softer passages. I had just received a bad pressing and now it will sit. This is unfortunate, because some of the vinyl has amazing sound and you can really hear ... MoreNormally I don’t like writing bad reviews. The album arrived fast, clean, hole centered, perfect shape, no warp just great album manufacturing in 180g. Recording is very smooth, delicate, sharp, crisp, detailed, uncompressed and revealing but gives a relaxed slight laid back feel. In my system and I am critical, the album had lots of bass not super huge maybe 5% subdued but its not suppressed, its prominent. The dynamic range was great not open reel tape large but still close, very enjoyable pace, rhythm and timing. Actually this LP is mastered from original tape source that captured details not heard clearly on the CD version I have, but records will have some analogue flaws. Some I read say the mastering is bleh or compressed, no dynamic range are needing perhaps a new stylus or wash that album in a ultrasonic bath to get it alive again. Yes, its not a Mofi where you will have more dynamic range engineered, exceptional tape readers and much further effort in mastering but its close. For the price, I still recommend this version because its 2 channel presentation beats both the CD and SACD 5.1 I have in my collection. Enjoy the music.
an interesting series of songs that creates a classic album that lives on now.a great positive is the packaging; the cover is made with a different material from other albums and really makes it feel special, plus the included posters and stickers.the songs are timeless classics, time and money are my personal favourites but the others are great too.i would truly recommend this album to anyone who knows the iconic cover
