Pioneer knows how to make a great impression. These are my first studio grade headphones, and upon opening the package, these headphones are presented in a very gorgeous box (which I still have), and inside, is a case for the headphones, which I keep inside the box. These headphones fold and twist to accommodate many different means of the traveling DJ/music enthusiast to carry there headphones without the case. Mines stay inside the case, inside the box, next my my DJ setup. The sound is beyond crisp and clear, with every aspect and detail of the song reaching out and playing with your eardrums. I use these to DJ, so the capability to twist and fold the headphones so I can hold it to one ear and leave the other ear exposed to listen to the track playing on the monitors makes beatmatching and track cueing such a joy! I've had these for 3 months, and am looking forward for a lifetime of use with them. Would definitely recommend these headphones to anyone who has an appreciation for their music.

Although lightweight & made from plastic, the X-10 is build to last; the metal headband, plastic hinges up to the hex key bolt makes it feel rugged but strong. The sound seems flat at first but while listening more closely, the X-10 quality comes through with incredibly detailed & well balanced sound. The large over the ear cup offer great sound isolation even when the volume is cranked up because you do not feel any pressure within. If you want a headphone for listening in and away from the DJ booth, the X-10 will be the last headphone you will ever purchase.

I am very particular when I choose headphones.Sound - Every kind of dance or electronic music that I've played through my HDJ X10's has sounded really, really good. I compared the X10's to the Sennheiser HD25 Classic in store, and to my ears the X10's definitely had a more enjoyable, 'bigger speaker' sound. Both headphones reveal very good levels of detail. Not trying to give a professional, critical comparison, but to me the Pioneers sound better (and they should, they cost twice as much). The sound-stage is nice and wide.. quite fun - if you pick up a pair you'll see what I mean. The way they render the bass frequencies is excellent as you'd expect for DJ headphones at this price-point. The way they render the bass frequencies is excellent as you'd expect for DJ headphones at this price-point. Play something with really nice bass like In the Quiet - Khiva, Truth or Set it Off (Justin Martin Party Started Remix) from a lossless WAV file and they won't disappoint. Effortless, sub-woofer type bass, but the lower frequencies are definitely not being excessively emphasised. It's still reasonably neutral (to my ears). Just judging from initial impressions, I don't think these headphones sound anything all that special with other genres, such as more acoustic stuff. I'd say if you want a one single, do-it-all headphones, there are better options out there for $500.. but then these clearly are DJ headphones, so I guess that comment is not all that relevant. I am very satisfied with the way they sound with electronic music. Comfort - Excellent, no problems here. The clamping force is just right in my opinion. They are light-weight. I mean yes, there are more comfortable headphones out there (like the mid to high-end Shure models for example) but I don't think people will find these headphones uncomfortable to wear for a couple of hours. Isolation - Very Good.. this was a factor in why I chose them. You really could quite happily use these instead of buying a noise-cancelling model in pretty much any situation (apart from in aircraft or maybe on noisy underground trains). Durability - now this is where they've lost one star in my rating. I'm just not totally convinced about the durability.. when you first flex the headphone band extenders in and out, they just feel a bit sloppy.. I don't know.. the advertising hype really leads you to believe these things are going to be virtually indestructable. Pioneer doesn't have such a sensational reputation when it comes to the durability of their headphones.. will these turn out to be a whole different story .. well maybe. I don't know. They do give you a 2 year warranty, so that's not too bad. But I doubt these are going to last something crazy like 15 years or something. But maybe they're more durable than they appear ... I have a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort 2, and they have survived some serious punishment (surprisingly).. the X10's you would think, would be more durable than them - so I don't know (I'm not going to test them to the point of failure). But yeah, all in all.. I'm very happy with my choice. I listen to lossless music files most of the time, am mucking about with learning how to do DJ-ing, and I think these will serve my purposes just fine. Style-wise, those chunky hinges really do make a bit of a statement when people see you front-on... so if you are looking for something to use while Dj-ing and out and about, you may want to have a good look at the X10's little brother - the Pioneer HDJ S7. They also sound great, but you do sacrifice some of that big driver effortless power, as well as some isolation.

I did not get these for their intended purpose DJ'ing.I bought them as an output for a FLAC player (FiiO M11).Initially I tried to use in ear headphones but couldn't get the sound I wanted out of them. These headphones are unbelievable and deliver a beautiful listening experience.FLAC or TIDAL + these headphones make music fun again!
I've had these Pioneer headphones for almost two years now, and I would say they're ranked three stars at best. Pioneer did a great job with the build quality and sound isolation. They've survived countless gigs and helped me hear my cued up tracks on large sound systems. However, that's kind of where the positives of these headphones stop.To my ears, the Pioneers have a boosted mid range between 100Hz - 1kHz then it starts to roll off making the tracks sound overall muddy. I also couldn't hear any sub-bass below 100Hz. Because of this, it often made me second guess my mixing choices and it misrepresents what's actually being played out loud on sound systems. In short, if you're looking for a set of cans that can isolate well and take a beating, these are it. Overall:I've had a few sets of headphones, but these have the best sound quality of any pair I've ever owned. Mids and Highs are really crispy and let you hear all the nuances of the music. Bass is well balanced, not booming so if you're looking for that these may not be for you...no Beats boom in your ear, which I thought I'd miss but its a fair trade for a more balanced sound. These are really comfortable headphones. The ear cups are soft, but form a great barrier on the ear to isolate the music from the outside sounds. The headband is has a generous amount of cushioning. I've worn these to about 4 gigs all of which were about 4 hours and didn't have any fatigue from my ears etc. Comes with great right angle cables 1 coiled and 1 braided, both of which are great ... MoreOverall:I've had a few sets of headphones, but these have the best sound quality of any pair I've ever owned. Also the foot print is small as the headphones fold up really compactly which being a mobile DJ is appreciated considering the space sometimes comes at a premium.Only 2 gripes about the headphones in general. I love the XLR cable connection it's really solid, but its only on the left ear cup. On my mixer the jack is on the right so I have to have the cable come across me in the front since I usually monitor with my left ear, minor again but for the price I'd like to have the option to connect it to either ear cup.2. The price is a little high in my opinion. I know you have to pay to play. Also with the specs and durability, hopefully I won't need a new set of headphones for quite some time. They also have cheaper option such as the X7- which to my knowledge is the replacement for the 2000MKII. So price doesn't have to be an issue.I trust pioneer products so I trust that these will last for some years. All in all I've loved my MKII and I gifted them to a friend and bought these. These are an upgrade so if you've been a fan you'll be even more of a fan.

Havent had to buy a new set of headphones in at least 10 years but i made the right choice with these. They fit perfectly esp if you have a smaller head, my last two pair (Ultrasone and Sony) were too big. They are extremely well made and sound exactly right; fairly flat not overly bright and excellent bass. Most headphones i have used i need to boost the high or low end or trim up to get the right sound but these sound more true to the source material. They arent cheap by any means but like other Pioneer DJ products i have (PLX 1000 turntable, CDJ 2002 MK 2) they are superb.
Overall:Bought the all black pair. Overall sound is really good! Used these headphones at a house party gig and it gets the job done. Very clear when it comes to the highs and mids. For the lows (long deep bass sounds) is well balanced. You know and can tell the low bass is there but not strong like the beats studio where you can feel the speakers on the headphones rattle your eardrums on high volumes. But overall still very good lows. When performing on these also blocks out sounds and other noises too.Comfort- These over ears headphones are very comfortable too. The head band has enough cushion to keep your head comfortable for long hours of use not like other headphones where you feel the plastic or metal after awhile and puts stress on your head.Quality- The quality of these headphones are legit. Very durable flexible metal throughout the headband and thick nano coated plastic pieces that connects to the ear cups.So overall it was a worthy purchase. The price of these headphones are pretty high but I guess your paying for durability of the headphones with the materials they used and the well balanced sound quality and of course brand name.I’ve seen other reviews where they said these headphones are over engineered and are not for djing. Don’t believe it at all...you have to try and test these out for yourself to really hear them. Just don’t expect these headphones to have them long deep strong bass like subwoofers in a car...lol...like I said well balanced and good enough to mix and dj your gigs.

I've read complaints in several reviews about these things, and even a couple complaints about an excess of spaciousness, but what I've found is when the presence area is EQ'd up a little, the soundstage is simply amazing and the tonality and clarity are awesome. The only downside I've experienced so far is some sweating in warm environments, but that's an issue with other full-size closed-back headphones that use pleather earpads. I love this headphone for several reasons (it's gorgeous for one), but mostly because of the clarity and accuracy - like being at the session live in person.
