If you want a bland mixer white rum, Castillo would be a better option, and Largo Bay is pretty neutral tasting as well. I like my white rum to taste like rum, with a bold flavor. Plantation 3 Star is my favorite white rum so far. It's fantastic with orange or pineapple juice, pineapple soda, in a mojito, or even neat or on the rocks.Tasting notes in the description are pretty accurate. It's silky, complex, interesting, and of course, very rummy. I liked this one a bit more than the Flor de Caña white rum but they are different beasts altogether - this one tastes more like a classic molasses rum, whereas the Flor de Caña tastes more like a demerara rum, similar to El Dorado. Both are awesome, and I plan to try the Cruzan white since I've heard good things about ... MoreIf you want a bland mixer white rum, Castillo would be a better option, and Largo Bay is pretty neutral tasting as well. So…I’m not one of these people who make up flavors and hints of whatever they make up to seem superior than everyone because they have a sad life. First fragrance than fill my nose is Banana, more plantain to be honest. I love plátanos and this was refreshing and flavor full. These bottles are more affordable and allow you to play with the flavor profile. Mixing with coconut or pineapple, citrus, cinnamon. Making a sweet cocktail will go great. If you’re buying booze because it’s looks better spending $200 you’re not worth sitting at the table. It tastes good, it’s affordable, and enough diversity to appeal to many people trying and getting into rum

I am surprised there are no reviews for this rum yet, it is currently my favorite white rum and stupidly cheap. This rum puts other white rums and even some gold rums in this category/price to shame, full of flavor to the point one could consider sipping or simply enjoying with lime and soda. Best for daiquris, best for mojitos, delicious with ginger ale, not a big fan with coke but otherwise this is a go-to white rum!

I know color doesn't mean much when it comes to rum because it can be filtered out. But if you have a drink calling for a white rum, use this and you won't go back to the Bacardi's of the world. Nothing but 5 stars for this 3 star rum! It's smooth with fruity notes, but also has a hint of that Jamaican funk that can add depth to a cocktail without being overpowering. And for a few more dollars to upgrade from the standard white rum it's a no brainer. You get more more value in flavor than that extra cost. Sort of like spending a little more by getting an artisanal soy sauce over a mass produced one, you don't realize what you were missing until you realized what you were missing.
Easily the best white rum I've ever had, especially for its price point. Loads of vanilla on the nose/palate as well as sweet molasses. Add a clean finish onto that and it's good enough to sip straight! I've also used it in daiquiris and mojitos paired with a homemade rich demerara syrup, and it makes for unbeatable cocktails. You will not regret picking up a bottle of this!
Very good rum for the money. 0 of that "hairspray" fragrance. Super smooth. Hard to pinpoint the flavors but you can tell it's high quality booze. Tastes really good with a Diet Coke and probably is amazing in other drinks. I did use it in a Long Island Iced tea and it worked great. For the money, this stuff is definitely worth giving it a shot.
When it came to light rum, I wasn't ever too impressed with the menagerie of subpar offerings peddled by major manufacturers such as Bacardi, Don Q, Captain Morgan, and Cruzan. Most light rums are severely deficient in character and flavor, which in turn makes them virtually indistinguishable from vodka. Just when I was about to abandon all hope for a lively, complex white rum that can be sipped neat and make for some awesome cocktails, I stumbled upon Plantation 3 Stars Silver Rum.By expertly fusing three different blends of rum from Trinidad, Barbados, and Jamaica (hence the "3 Stars" moniker), the end result is an incredible spirit that adds new dimension to classic cocktails. Exotic flavor notes of dried orange peel, coconut, and banana immediately engulf the palette, followed by a pleasurable swallow that lingers with oak and brown sugar.Overall, Plantation 3 Stars Silver Rum thrives as both an excellent sipping rum served neat or on the rocks, and makes an extraordinary cocktail component. If anyone does make the prudent decision in purchasing this rum, feel free to try these two cocktail recipes provided below to maximize enjoyment.LA FLORIDITA COCKTAIL- 2 ounces Plantation 3 Stars Silver Rum- 1 ounce fresh lime juice- 2 teaspoons sugar syrup- 1 teaspoon maraschino liqueurShake in an iced cocktail shaker (or blend for the frozen variant), strain into a cocktail receptacle, then garnish with a lime wheel and cocktail cherry.KNICKERBOCKER A LA MONSIEUR- 2 ounces Plantation 3 Stars Silver Rum- 1 ounce fresh lemon juice- 1/2 ounce orange curacao- 1/2 ounce raspberry syrupIncorporate all of the aforementioned ingredients into an iced cocktail shaker, shake until the outer layer of the shaker frosts, strain into a Collins or double Old Fashioned glass, then garnish with an orange slice, pineapple slice, and cocktail cherry.
This is a good rum for sipping with a tiny bit of water or ice. I like white rum for the sugar cane flavor. I don’t usually make mixed drinks and when I do I am not confident that this rum would be necessary .
There are a lot of things sold under the label of white rum. Some are really amazing artisanal products with a lot of character, usually made on a Francophone island and marketed as rhums agricole. Others are tweaked for ester content and marketed at high proof (see Jamaica). But what of rums suitable for daiquiris, punches and piñas colada? Something where you want smooth drinking, neutral color and some indication that it's not made with vodka, but not so heavy you think fruitcake and grog? The typically response is a Puerto Rican or USVI white rum. The problem is, they lack character and could easily be mistaken for underfiltered vodka or grain neutral spirit. They're not exactly offensive, but they don't exactly taste like rum.Gold rims from similar producers ... MoreThere are a lot of things sold under the label of white rum. They're usually colored with caramel, not aged, and you don't always want barrel age in a fruit-forward cocktail. This is where you need Plantation Three Star. It's an affordable upgrade from bland industrial rum, and it's ideal for mixing in daiquiris, coladas, Bahama Mamas, punches and swizzles where you need to strike a balance between rum character and the other ingredients. This is my house silver rum, and I've never been disappointed in any Plantation product. It's very similar to what you'll find locals drinking throughout the Caribbean.
