Platinum Fountain Pen #3776 Century Extra Fine Point Laurel Green Regular Import

A rough nib! The backstory: two years ago I bought a Platinum pen, the nib was misaligned out of the box. Jet accepted the return, thank you, and verified the misaligned nib.Two years later I bought another Platinum pen,I liked the look of it and thought my first experience was a one off, big mistake! The new pen’s nib is rough, not a Comfortable writing experience.I talked to my Pen friends about the rough nib: “write, it will smooth out”.. why should “I break in a pen”? - ? It’s not a pen worth the effort.All my Pilot pen’s are good out of the box! and get better as I use!I don’t understand why Jet Pens puffs up the Platinum pen’s??? ... ? There are far better pen’s for the price.!

A great writing, great looking pen

This pen is easily one of my favorites. I bought one over a year ago now in a Soft Fine nib. Normally I like mediuim and even broader nibs, especially European ones but I thought I'd give the fine a try, especially given its classification as a Soft fine. It doesn't really feel very soft, and it is quite fine, but I find myself really not minding this at all and finding it a refreshing counterpoint to my usual broader pens. The flow is perfect and has a nice bounce to the nib but not overly so. It is not a quiet writer, but I don't really mind this. I find that the fine-ness of the nib makes me write smaller with it than my usual handwriting as well. My only real complaint here about the pen is that the clip and body are all plastic. The gold paint is chipping off the edges of the clip at this point, revealing some grey-white plastic underneath. The body also has several scratches in it now after heavy EDC use, but that is to be expected. I dont really mind this a LOT but it is annoying. Just putting that out there for those who care. Great writing pen otherwise. Considering getting a Broad/Coarse/BB next as well.

Elegant fountain pen

This pen is made out of a very good quality plastic (a.k.a. precious resin) and it is slightly transparent. The transparency works great in conjunction with the Platinum converter which has a pronounced metal part which shines through the pen in strong light creating a very nice effect. The pen is quite lightweight, only slightly heavier than a Lamy Safari but also has a nice size. It may be used unposted even by people with large hands. The cap posts securely, though. The Slip'n'seal feature - the additional hermetic cap - works great, the pen starts writing at once even after a prolonged period of not using it. Additionally, you can feel the inner cap engaging when screwing on the cap which feels nice. Great All-Around Writer

This pen hits all the points that I want to see in a gold nib. It's lightweight but does not feel cheap in the hand at all, and it is wonderfully balanced posted or not. The blue color is absolutely gorgeous; it's a real eye-catcher. The cap works beautifully as well; I haven't had any issues with hard starts or dryness even after leaving it capped for an extended period while I used other pens. Overall the body of the pen is classic and beautiful. It is a classy looking pen, and it's clear that Platinum is not setting out to chase trends with this design. The real reason to get this pen is the nib and feed. Platinum leaves absolutely nothing to be desired here for me; it writes consistently and with a nice wetness that you'd expect from a gold nib. This is my first gold nib pen, and I am in love. I have the medium, which in my estimation is PERFECT. Just for reference, I have a Conklin All American in medium, a Lamy Safari in fine, a Pilot Metropolitan in medium, and a TWSBI Eco-T in medium. This Platinum Medium is on the finer side from all of those nibs, but more than makes up for it with its incredible feed. It never hard starts or runs out of ink. It is a beautiful writer and writes better than anything I have previously owned. Do know that the nibs on Platinum pens have a bit of feedback, but also know that it is not scratchiness, it truly is feedback. You can feel the paper, and I think this is a huge asset. Lightweight and Pretty

Remember to get pripriatary converter

The aesthetic appeal of this pen is amazing. My first instinct was to put in Bay State Blue, which I did. There were no hard starts, and no drying out of the nib with BSB for three months, until I ran the pen dry. That tells you a lot about both the nib, and the airtight cap. I have been collecting pens for only about eight months. After about buying roughly a dozen pens, this is the second smoothest nib. The image with colorful splotches indicates an index card. Turning the Platinum 3773 upside down sounded fun, but I found the differences in line variation minimal. The top line above the pen is upside down; the lines lying underneath the pen are written right side up. I inked up my Pilot Custom 823 so I could compare apples to apples. Very smooth beautiful pen

This is my 4th Platinum pen from the Century #3776 line. I like it very much. Each writes differently. Two pens have fine nibs (Nice Pur and Yamanaka edition) and two with extra-fine nibs--this Century Blue Chartres and the Century Bourgogne. There is quite a lot of difference in nibs even within one maker's line. The Burgogne EF nib was so fine, I could barely see the line. I used a brass sheet to open it slightly and it is buttery smooth and one of my all time favorites now. The Blue Chartres nib is buttery smooth too but writes more like a fine nib than an extra-fine. None of my Platinum pens scratches the paper but they have a very pleasurable connection with the paper that I like very much. They become smoother after 2 weeks of writing too. Washing the pen carefully where your fingers grasp it takes care of that. Platinum converters can be stiff. Use silicone to grease the threading mechanism (the metal cap comes off to expose the plastic screw mechanism).

I must say that this is the exact nib I was looking for. I love the resistance it offers during writing as it gives me the feel for which I sought to buy this kind of nib. The ink flow is superb. I use HP laserjet 32 lb paper which is of extremely high quality. I think a lower quality paper also works fine. As for the color, I think Chartres Blue is the prettiest choice for this pen as it looks gorgeous and I have already received a ton of compliments. It doesn't matter if someone is a fountain pen lover or not, people will ogle at your hand while you are writing with this pen. It indeed looks so good and writes so fine.
