Pros: Folds into a reasonably small packages (can hide this in the cupboard, even with the steering wheel installed). Pretty comfortable (at least for an hour or so).Feels surprisingly sturdy given it looks quite flimsy.Cons: Gearshifter mounting position doesn't exist (contrary to one of the advert images). Need to buy Playseat® Gearshift Support... which is a bit naff in all honesty, or look at other 3rd party options. The adjustability is minimal. It is fine for adults (i.e. adjust the horizontal placement of the pedals), but it certainly wasn't adjustable enough to enable my 4 year old to hold onto the wheel and reach the pedals.

I went back and forth on this seat and the GTLite, reading reviews on both from every site and ultimately went with the Playseat and not disappointed so far. I chose this one because it is more compact than the GTLite, and slightly more affordable ($190 vs $230). Using it with a Logitech G923.Assembly was very easy, and it took about 20 mins of me getting in and out of the seat, adjusting the slack in the straps and repositioning the wheel plate to get the chair dialed into my comfort level. I've done several F1 race weekends (60-90 minute sessions) and comfort hasn't been an issue so far. It's a great compliment to my sim experience and would highly recommend this for anyone looking for an entry-level seat, and/or for anyone tight on space. Happy racing!

I attached my CSL Elite base and pedals but it needed some adjustments. First, the pedals don't really stay put with the velcro straps (which is a little short to wrap around the front). I drilled a hole into my pedal base so I could get some heavy duty zip ties and secure it.The steering wheel base would only allow 2 bolts to attach after moving the base plate backwards. It seems solid for now, but you would need to cut into the plastic adjuster on the playseat if you want to attach all three bolts. The chair itself is pretty comfortable, although I have large thighs, it took some adjustments on the seat so it would be more comfortable. The alacantara is nice but not very breathable so it can get rather toasty in the seat.Overall this is way better than trying ... MoreI attached my CSL Elite base and pedals but it needed some adjustments. It's compact enough where I can fold it and get it out of the way when I need my desk for work (or other games). My only gripe is that the base plate is not swappable, like if you wanted to attach a joystick to play some games and use a wheel for others.

Easy to set up and store but has issues

Setting up the chair was really simple. It simply unfolds, add a few velcro straps here and there and bolt the steering wheel to it. I'm using a Thrustmaster t300rs and the bolts came supplied that fit the base of the wheel. The seat is pretty comfy but a little snug on the thighs. I'm 5ft 11 and about 100kg. My only dislikes about the seat is the steering wheel is quite close to your body so your arms feel cramped which limits movement and it just feels unatural. If the wheel could have been moved away. Just by about 6 to 8 inches it would have been better. Also unless your tv is straight riggt infront of you, the angle of the 'headrest' does your neck no favours. My TV is wall mounted so I have to tilt my head back slightly and this is quite uncomfortable after a ... MoreSetting up the chair was really simple. First impression? Cool. After collapsing? Bummer

A foldable gaming chair. Seems convenient at first if your tight on space, but it's tiresome doing it after every gaming session. You have to use velcro straps to secure everything in place. Worst of all though- it's a safety hazard! The thing collapsed while I was playing during second use! The velcro straps that hold the chair together just gave and I hit the floor!Thankfully nothing sharp or dangerous underneath as the seat is not cushioned just a leather like pad. Unfortunately, the metal wheel plate split open the wire that connects the wheel to console -_-The chair is rated for 270lbs. I'm well under 50pds the limit but still it gave! If you loosen straps to recline back a bit, beware: it might collapse like it happened to me, especially when adjusting in seat. This is Probably because not enough velcro holding it up.Also, wheel wobbles a bit even though securely clamped because 2 steel tubes holding it up just isn't as secure as a solid permanent stand. Pro, is you can adjust it up or down as needed. For the money I probably could have built a better custom seat and stand. But I don't have a workshop or house so that's why I opted for this. Now, I'm mulling whether to return it. Shame. Manufacturer should consider using clamps instead of velcro straps in future version

Great all around seat

Like others have said, I thought this was going to be just my initial leap into a driving sim rig, but I'm so happy with the Challenge, I don't really see the point in moving up to a more sophisticated rig.Assembly was really easy. It comes along with an instruction booklet with pretty clear illustrations of how to put it together. It took maybe 20 minutes to do. Collapsing it to stow away is super easy and takes just a minute or so and setting it back up again even less.I'm 5'11 and 205 and I fit fine in it. It doesn't have much padding, but for my 1-2 hour sessions, it's pretty comfortable. I was concerned before ordering about how easily I could get into it with the position of the steering wheel, but it swings away to the left and so it's pretty easy to get ... MoreLike others have said, I thought this was going to be just my initial leap into a driving sim rig, but I'm so happy with the Challenge, I don't really see the point in moving up to a more sophisticated rig.Assembly was really easy. That feature may be the only weakness of the rig. There's just a little bit of play where the tubing slides in and you get some flex at the wheel. It doesn't affect gameplay but maybe long term might cause problems.I thought there would be some compromises given the price point and collapsible construction, but it really has proven to be strong and stable. I thought eventually I would like to upgrade to a seat with shifter and monitor attachments, but it now doesn't seem worth the money given all you get with this seat.

Great concept, one fatal flaw.
12 February 2023

Disclaimer; I bought mine open-box. I wanted to use it with my Thrustmaster T248 wheel. The seat is clever in its design and how it folds, but my pedals base is too wide/thick for the included restraining strap to actually hold it down. If it was just a few inches longer, it wouldn't be an issue. Because of that, I can't fully fold the seat, which is the main selling point of the chair in the first place.

Great seat, bought after returning the GT Lite
4 November 2021

When researching foldable racing cockpits, I was torn between this Playseat Challenge and the Next Level Racing GT Lite. On paper, the GT Lite is the better seat because it's more adjustable and comes with a shifter mount, and is a bit cheaper too. Reviews also seemed positive. My main concern was how compact it'd fold up, but I figured I'd try it out first since if I liked it, it should meet my needs out of the box.I knew immediately when I received it that it wasn't for me. I'm thin and of average male height, and it felt way bigger than it needed to be. Worse, although it does have a technically more robust adjustment mechanism than the Playseat Challenge, this comes at the expense of making it quite tedious to fold/unfold. And due to its size, it takes up a lot of space when folded (which I knew going in, but it was even bigger than I expected). Finally, the included shifter mount is located too high/forward for me to even reach it easily (at least, with the Fanatec shifter I plan to buy), let alone find it natural/comfortable. So I returned it the next day and ordered the Playseat Challenge. My experience with the Challenge has been the opposite. It fits me well and is more comfortable to sit in, sets up easily and although the adjustments are mostly velcro strap-based which isn't as robust as the GT Lite's mechanism, the velcro is strong and large and shows no signs of slippage or failing anytime soon. The benefit of this approach is that folding/unfolding the rig is super easy and requires no changes to the adjustments. And because the rig is smaller, it folds up smaller. I also find the seat itself more comfortable and contoured. There's even some basic lumbar support in the form of a (you guessed it) velcro strap behind the seat that can be tightened. I still find a need to add a pillow for long sessions to improve this, but it's nice that there's something. It does not come with a shifter mount, but since I found the GT Lite's to be unusable, this isn't really a negative. Plus, since the Challenge has been around forever, there are plenty of DIY approaches to mounting various shifters, so considering I would've needed a DIY solution either way and would have a harder time finding ideas for the newer GT Lite, I actually consider the shifter situation to be a bit better with the Challenge, for me at least. My biggest complaint is that the pedal mount doesn't have a hard mount plate like the GT Lite and instead depends on another velcro strap. This works and the pedals are secure enough, but I do find my heels sometimes get caught on the velcro. This could be improved with a DIY scheme I'm sure, and the velcro placement can be moved around to minimize the heel issue, but I do feel this is a weakness.I was also worried about using the Challenge at a desk-mounted monitor. I have a 40 4k TV as my PC monitor and was worried it'd be too high for the Challenge, which sits a few inches lower than the GT Lite. Although it isn't ideal, it's really not bad at all and ensures the steering wheel doesn't obscure the screen. I also plan to dabble in some VR racing, which of course won't have this problem. In conclusion, I'm really happy with my purchase and would say that unless you're a large and/or tall person, the Playseat Challenge is the foldable cockpit to buy.

Works well with Thrust master gear. Folds up.

Works well with Thrust Master wheel and pedals. I have the F1 steering wheel, and did not want to buy the complete cockpit for the setup.
