The fit is snug, and the front liner is not comfortable out of the box, as the edge is sharp due to the welded construction of the material. I'm at the limit of the chin strap as well. There aren't a lot of options if you need XXL. Wish I could get it in florescent green just like the one it is replacing. Will look for a replacement front liner, as they need to be washed, and this is all one piece. Should come with two, one to use while the other is drying. I need be in it 5+ days a week. The quality of the construction seems very good, and I wouldn't ski without one.

I work as a ski patroller. Responded to a guy wearing this helmet. He had dropped a cliff into a steep couloir and missed a must make turn in the runout hitting a tree head on. Front of helmet was smashed in on the front goggles were broken, big abrasion on his face. The helmet had a lot of thickness in the front absorbing a lot of the impact. His head was totally fine. I was really impressed with this helmet especially being able to protect a frontal impact so well without a full face helmet.

I love POC products, but the sizing off this helmet is sadly off. I have an xs/s mtb helmet, but I also remeasured my head according to the chart given because I was aware of the pay to return policy. When my xs/s ski helmet arrived it was too small, by a long way. This was disappointing not least because I had to pay to return the helmet. Check and double check the size, and if you're close between sizes, size up.

I was in a skiing accident with this helmet on. I tumbled over some sharp volcanic rock. I was flown to the hospital. I received a TBI with 16 fractures in my face, broken jaw, broken teeth, broken c6&c7 vertebrae and a broken arm. I was in a coma. The helmet took the impact and shattered into pieces like it was supposed to. If I wasn't wearing it I could have severe brain trauma and maybe died. The first doctor thought I would die. Today I lead a normal existence. I originally bought poc because they go above the safety standards they would have to just sell helmets. Now I am a lifelong poc adherent. I tell everyone that they should be wearing a poc helmet.
The inner strap that tightens around your head on this helmet is not designed very well. I've had the helmet for 2-3 but 2 being during covid (so not much use) and had the strap break off once and the replacement I got the tooth that holds on would not give a firm grip - so it loosens. I would not recommend this helmet to anyone. I've had helmets that lasted me without this kind of issues at much lower price point.
Had the fornix for about 2 months now. I absolutely love the style and feel of this helmet (only downside is you can’t install universal helmet speakers). Today this thing saved me. I fell in a chute that was basically all rocks and rag dolled/tomahawked my way all the way down the run. When I first got up I didn’t even realize I’d hit my head. It wasn’t until I safely made it back to the car that I noticed several massive dents in my helmet. Had I not been wearing a helmet I could have brain injuries or worse. Instead thanks to this helmet I walked away with just a few bruises (on my body not head). Currently ordering a new one to replace the one I mangled.
Very well designed product I bought the dark green colored one not my favorite color but it was the last size M-L on 50% sale in the outlet section of the website shop. I wouldn't have bought it if it had been full prize: it's an average ski helmet a part for mips system that make me feel a little bit safer. (Mips is a security sysetmy designed to protect your brain from rotational impact.)The weight is on average: I didn't notice a lightness sensation above my head when I tried the helmet. The adjustment system has a wide range. This helmet like all helmets is a "perishable good" that means it should be replaced after three years of use. This helmet perfectly fit with poc clarity opsin ski mask.Cover bag included.
Got about 14 days of skiing in on this helmet and am very happy with how comfortable it is. Vents are easy to operate and the compatibility with my Fovea goggles is seamless. Sizing was a little tricky for me since my head measurement was kind of between the M-L and XL-XXL. I tried the M-L first and was pretty much pushed up against the EPS foam in the helmet with no room for adjustment. If you find yourself in a situation similar to mine I'd recommend going with the bigger size to give you the adjustability. If you're in the goggles/beanie-under gang I'd recommend the Fornix, but I'm sure you already know that if you looked on NS.
Years ago I had a similar POC helmet. With a more oval-shaped head, I found the helmet was on the rounder side, putting pressure on my forehead, causing discomfort. Having loved my Smith Vantage helmet, I was wary to make the jump back to POC. With 70 days in the new Fornix SPIN helmet, I can say I'm sold. Then again, I was sold after a week once the helmet padding broke in a bit.The helmet is lightweight and breathes well with the help of an integrated ventilation system you can open/close with the flip of a switch. The earpieces are removable for those very warm days on the mountain. The fit is customizable, though where it tightens was a little higher on the head than I'd prefer. But I also don't (have to) crank it down too much, so it doesn't bother me.The ... MoreYears ago I had a similar POC helmet. They fit together so well and the helmet's ventilation system minimizes goggle fogging.Do yourself a favor and grab the Fornix SPIN and pair it with the Orb Clarity goggles.
I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion.I have skied for 20+ years and am very particular when it comes to my gear. I have always fit into a medium or medium/large helmets, this helmet is no exception. For reference, my other inbounds helmet is the sweet protection trooper II mips. Both helmets are incredibly comfortable. This helmet has been used exclusively inbounds in colorado, ranging from single digits(Fahrenheit) to sunny days in the mid 30’s with a balaclava worn underneath(covid mask requirements). The helmet ventilated well in 30 degree weather and never felt cold on the single digit days. Like all of poc’s helmets, this appears to be well made! I don’t make a habit of hitting my head so I cannot speak to the ... MoreI was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion.I have skied for 20+ years and am very particular when it comes to my gear. I don’t make a habit of hitting my head so I cannot speak to the durability following a head strike. I’ll include a picture of the helmet for an idea of color and fit. I typically prefer more understated colors but the brighter colors seem to work well for friends/family finding you easily at the resort. The poc fornix spin is light enough that I wouldn’t have a reservation taking it with me backcountry skiing although I would think its best application will be inbounds as I get fairly toasty on the skin track and will often use a black diamond vapor for these days.
