Was looking for a new helmet and wanted something light, comfortable and safe that looked good aesthetically too. This hits on every aspect I was looking for. There is plenty of ventilation on hot days to keep my head cool, and the sunglasses garage works really well (gets a little loose on gravel / MTB trails, but that's to be expected). From a profile standpoint, this was the least "mushroomy" of the options I considered too. I tried the Octal too, but that one was very mushroomy for me...I've seen other reviews talk about MIPS. This does not have MIPS, but it does have POC's own SPIN technology (the little pads on the helmet are meant to shift a little if there's impact and displace direct impact energy). Haven't had to test it's strength yet but I hope it's as ... MoreWas looking for a new helmet and wanted something light, comfortable and safe that looked good aesthetically too. Stylish, comfortable and light. My head is around 58cm and the medium is a good fit. I can't quite fit a cap underneath, but that's not too much of a problem as the aero design will probably keep the worst of any rain showers out. Really comfortable straps. After giving myself a short haircut the ventilation is much more noticeable. Living in Scotland it doesn't get particularly hot, but it's been breezy and comfortable on some recent rides of about 17-18 degrees. I bought this at about 50% discount, got lucky as it was on sale at the same time I was looking to buy. Probably couldn't face spending the full RRP, but it is very good quality.

I was fortunate enough to use my new helmet for two great rides before it was put to the test. I had a bad crash resulting in a broken collarbone on the third ride. This helmet was put to the test, and passed with flying colors. I hit my head hard on the pavement, and the helmet absorbed the shock, and although it’s obviously no longer usable, my head remained completely safe and didn’t suffer any complications. I’ve been using POC products for a few years now, and after this I won’t trust anything besides a POC helmet.

I have been an avid cyclist for more than 44, years.I have used so many bicycle helmets.Primarily, Bell and Giro.It was watching, GCN YouTube host, Simon Richardson's special POC factory visit/feature, on how POC designs and make their helmets that made me curious about the product.I initially purchased the, Ventral Air SpinIt is one of the best helmet that I have ever used and currently using.Very comfortable, light enough, incredible ventilation, and I feel very safe and protected. Now, I have the, Ventral Spin.It is as good as the Ventral Air Spin.Except for the design of the straps, these helmets are simply outstanding. You feel truly safe when wearing them.
I have loved my Ventral Spin AVIP since I began riding with it last year. It is extremely comfortable and fits my head perfectly. I also have POC DO Half Blade glasses. 2 nights ago a fellow cyclist made an errant turn in front of me and took out my front wheel. I went down hard and have a concussion and 2 pelvic fractures and road rash. No doubt this helmet saved my life. I am just now getting out of the hospital, walking slowly from the bruises and the pelvic fractures. The helmet is crushed, and the force was dispersed through the foam and the shell. The POC sunglasses lens are horrifically scratched, similar to the helmet shell. The lens will have to be replaced, too. Yes, after a year and 6000 miles in the sun, the orange AVIP color has faded slightly, but as a neurologist in the USA, and after this crash, I am only getting POC helmets from now on! The combo of safety, aero, comfortable fit, ventilation, and style (love the vivid orange) is ideal.
This is my third POC helmet. I have the Omne Air and Ventral Air.This is my first aero helmet & I absolutely love it. The fit is snug & the helmet feels light & fast. I’ve raced two crits in the helmet & I haven’t had any overheating issues. The helmet has that classic POC “look” but with aggressive aero qualities. This helmet ticks all of the boxes!
I work at bike shop where we do not sell POC, I wish we did but that's another story. One benefit of working at bike shop is the great discount we get on the product/brands we carry. Even though I can get a helmet from a plethora of brands with amazing discounts I paid full price for my Ventral Spin. Its unbelievably lightweight, breaths like a dream and is beyond comfortable. Something I love that POC seems to embrace is bright visible colours. I will not compromise my safety with a black or dark-coloured helmet. I don't know why so many brands are still making black helmets. I want cars to see me from miles away if possible. Long story short- I could get a lesser quality helmet from other brands for free or next to nothing but still choose to pay full price for ... MoreI work at bike shop where we do not sell POC, I wish we did but that's another story. I bought this helmet a month or so ago and I can say without any hyperbole that this far outstrips the merits of any other lid previously used. The fit is great, and the closure system feels like your head is getting a cuddle - something that no other system has managed for me in the past (with this helmet, there's not post-ride forehead marking). It's also pretty light, so you can pretty much forget that you're wearing it, even on long rides. Attention to small details, like the rubberized shade-docks are very welcome, but where the Ventral comes into its own is in the venting system - it is simply superb. The air swallowed by the large openings at the front gets spat out of the back without any fuss at all. What is really surprising, is how quiet this all is. The air swallowed by the large openings at the front gets spat out of the back without any fuss at all. What is really surprising, is how quiet this all is. I was expecting a fair bit of noise, but the flow of air is pretty silent (my previous helmet had a koyroid lining, which even on windless days was as noisy as a wasps nest). The SPIN technology hasn't been put to the test yet, and I hope to keep it that way. Look-wise, it's not going to be everybody's cup of tea, but I personally love it. The price tag might be a little prohibitive for some, but when you factor in comfort, build, weight, design and so on, the cost becomes a lot easier to bear. It is a wonderful product, looks brilliant, performs superbly. Wholeheartedly recommended.
The helmet showed up defective, so I have been waiting for the replacement and have been without a helmet for two weeks. The exchange process was fairly simple, it’s just taking longer than I would have liked.Still need a “on bike” review, but it feels pretty snug on the sides. Hopefully it doesn’t become annoying after hours on the bike
The Ventral Spin is likely the lightest helmet that I have worn. Once on, I tend to forget it is there due to the light weight and comfort. I was worried about the sizing since I was right near the upper end of a size M, at 58.5 cm (size M = 54 to 59cm), but was not sure I wanted to jump up to the larger helmet shell size. It fits perfect, with room for a sweat cap and even a thermal beanie if the weather is cold.
