I totally love these!!! My husband bought them for me because I was unhappy with his 661 Evo Compression shorts when I tried them out (their hip pads are small and too far behind my hips; it didn't cover the greater trochanter - top of femur - on my hips). What I love:1. The waistband! I do not like to wear anything that is too tight around the waist and I normally struggle to find items with an elastic waistband that fit well. These are perfect! The waistband is true to size, very comfortable, and does not squeeze my waist.2. The hip pad & its coverage! These hip pads cover everything and they absorb most of the impact. I recently fell while wearing these shorts and I was able to jump up and ride (had my derailleur not snapped off). No bruises ever appeared from ... MoreI totally love these!!! The overall weight. These shorts are so well made, they hug your buns and thighs and don't let go! They stay in place (even when you fall) and they do not add any noticeable weight. What I don't totally love, but don't hate either:This is by no means a complaint or deal-breaker for me, but you might want to know...1. The elastic band around each leg opening is tight. It squeezes a little more than I would like; not because of comfort (they are not extremely tight), but because of the look. I don't like the bulge it causes on the inside of my lower thighs, BUT it is just an appearance problem, not a comfort problem. It seems like they made the leg elastic bands a little tighter to hold the hip pads in place instead of the waistband which is actually a FANTASTIC idea! I can deal with leg squish...I cannot deal with hip squish (AKA muffin top).Would absolutely recommend these shorts! POC did a seriously awesome job!

I bought these for both MTB and skateboarding. They are surprisingly low profile and dont show under my shorts (normal fit shorts, nothing too tight or baggy). Theyre extremely comfortable once you start moving, kinda as if your body heat softens the material up. Out of the package I thought they were a bit tight and obstructive, but once I started either skating or biking, I dont notice them at all. They stay cool and breathable also. Buy your regular size and know that they will "break in" as you do your activity. Highly recommended.

Comfortable. Padding isn’t too bulky but it covers the impact areas. Definitely recommend for downhill/lift served days on the mountain bike, boosts the confidence on rocky, technical terrain. The chamois is minimal, in fact, the shorts would be more comfortable without it, and you want to wear underwear (compression shorts are ideal) under them. Would definitely recommend to anyone taking downhill laps at a resort. Haven’t tried them skiing yet, only mountain biking but I think they’d work great. I see a lot of hip fractures and dislocations as a patroller and I think these shorts would protect from these types of injuries.

Great protection, the right amount in the right spots. I like that the chamois is almost non existent, and the fit loose enough to allow a liner with chamois. Only change I would take would be some pre-forming for the pads. Kind of like flat foam inserts on your sides instead of being shaped like a human. No offense to perfectly flat hipped humans intended.
I wear these mountain biking as they have a small chamois in them. I also have these without the chamois that I wear skiing. A little tight for me, but I think I am probably between sizes. I wear a size 6 pants and bought these in small/xsmall. I haven't found these in the store so don't know how a medium would fit.
Hips and tailbones are painful things to break. These shorts are well worth the investment. They are barely noticeable under shorts or pants but offer some confidence-boosting protection for your important parts. The chamois is just thick enough to provide a little protection but it’s not nearly as thick as a typical bib-short. I would buy these again shorts again without hesitation.
Hip protection seems pretty good.Even though I am a full 32" waist, the shorts feel like they are loose and come down from the waist.I would have enjoyed a full chamois, or at least something more cushy. I would have to wear 3 layers of shorts to get what I need.
Bought these shorts for crosscountry-roller-skiing. I’m 163 cm, 49 kg, 25” waist and size XS/s fits me well. They are comfortable and the padding seems far superior in quality compared with my previous, cheaper padded shorts. For my use, the chamois is irrelevant and I am glad it is quite thin and barely noticeable.
I am a Nordic Cross Skater who has covered over 17,000 kilometres over the past 11 years. About 5 years ago, I bought the VPD 2.0 Shorts and found them to be excellent protection and very breathable in hot weather. I am 72 years old and very concerned about protecting my hips and elbows from falls on the occasional falls on asphalt roads travelling at 10 mph. These deserved a 5 star rating when they were new but over time, the elastic waist bank stretch so badly that I need suspenders to wear them or they will slide to my knees. I find it strange that the quality was so high in every other aspect of the product but not the waste band! In any case, I would buy another pair ONLY IF they have fixed this problem. As a premium priced product, I hope this has been ... MoreI am a Nordic Cross Skater who has covered over 17,000 kilometres over the past 11 years. With a 32” waist the medium Hip VPD 2.0 shorts fit with no issues. They were not bulky at all. I would have to remind myself to think about any issues the shorts had while riding up or smashing it down hill. I didn’t find them uncomfortable the first time I wore them while riding in the Kananaskis, Alberta (Canada - eh) mountains in 28 Celsius / 80 Fahrenheit (ish) heat. I would recommend POC products because of, #1, the quality! #2, the $$ cost, I feel POC is reasonably priced! and #3, (drum roll), POC Hip VPD 2.0 shorts (armour) are designed to fit under POC apparel (MTB shorts).
