Kortal Race Mips: Complete protection for trail and enduro, the Kortal helmet provides lightweight, extended protection and a seamless fit with goggles. With extended protection zones and uninterrupted ventilation, you’ll find safety and comfort wherever you choose to ride, and however hard you push. Certified for use with e-bikes, the helmet passes the Dutch NTA8776 standard, which tests helmets at higher impact speeds than for standard bicycle use. Currently, this is the only standard for e-bike helmets. In a crash, the patented breakaway peak will snap away from the helmet, helping to protect against neck injury. Ideal to pair with the Devour Sunglasses for trail riding or the Ora goggles for enduro so you can extend your protection and heighten your senses. The helmet peak raises high enough on the helmet for goggles to fit underneath while not in use, and no helmet vents are covered by the goggle strap.

Best mountain bike helmet I have ever owned!

This is the third Kortal I’ve bought now. Maybe I take too many chances or maybe I’m just clumsy but I seem to find a way to fall on my head a lot and this helmet has always
saved me. After taking 4 dents this year decided to get a replacement vs going through POC’s crash replacement program. I love that this helmet sits deep, so there is great
coverage f around the forehead, back of the head and around the ears, and it provides this great coverage while still being super comfortable and not feeling heavy at all. I
also like the design a lot compared with the older POC models and get quite a few compliments on it. Sunglasses also fit well with the top of the helmet and have... Show more

Fit was okay, at first
25 March 2024
When initially searching, the aesthetic and pictures from the website convinced me it was the one. The level of protection and new technology in the helmet sold me as well. I will however say, I was a little put off by the lack of standard MIPs tech, it is a new system and if I understand correctly, its sprayed on the EPS and utilizes the loop sliders under the comfort foam. Still passes MIPS standards, but new to me. As far as comfort, it has grown on me, but felt pressure points at my temporal lobes, I thought it was a deal breaker, but after messing with my padding and breaking it in, its not a problem... forehead heavy...crappola
23 February 2024
After 2 months of wearing this helmet I"m going to offer it up for $50 on local Craigslist. NOT STOKED AT ALL. While at first it seems comforatable, soon into riding I felt an annoying pressure on my forehead and glasses. This helmet is front heavy, simple as that. I recommend trying it on in a shop and jumping around to simulate riding.Even worse....try find a spot for a helmet light. I do a lot of night riding and there just isnt' a good spot to mount a light. The location I findally foudn to work makes the front heavy issue even worse. Last night I was cursing the helmet my entire ride.... Show more

Great helmet, awesome colors, state of the art features.
31 August 2024
I got the POC Kortal Race MIPS, because I need a new helmet, that would look awesome and was as secure as possible. After reading a few reviews, I decided to get this one. I was just a bit confused, as my head size was bang on in the middle of two sizes. I ordered the bigger one, after the POC service suggested it, but had to send it back as it was just too large. Then I ordered the smaller one and with the settings that can be changed got it into a very nice position. The smaller helm feels much more close to my head and much more secure on my head. Used it for a few month now and it is well ventilated and works 100% to my expectation. I love the color way and I'm very happy with it. Full recommendation.... Show more

No More Bald Spots
29 July 2021
After two years of running the Lazer Impala helmet, I was ready for a change. While that helmet is light, fit me well, and was comfortable on; taking the helmet off caused me to rip out clumps of my hair because it got caught in the Mips system. No beauno. I also decided it was time for a replacement as helmets tend to roll around in the back of my truck and the foam starts to deteriorate from UV light.Finish: I feel like I waited forever for this helmet, but it turned out to be worth it. I wanted to get a color that complimented my dark anthracite Yeti SB140 and the Kortal Race in black/grey is darn close. I’m really digging the current matte trend we’re seeing in the bike and auto industries.Weight: The Kortal Race helmet isn’t as light as the Impala, but it ... MoreAfter two years of running the Lazer Impala helmet, I was ready for a change. I wanted to get a color that complimented my dark anthracite Yeti SB140 and the Kortal Race in black/grey is darn close. I’m really digging the current matte trend we’re seeing in the bike and auto industries.Weight: The Kortal Race helmet isn’t as light as the Impala, but it offers superior protection in the back, covering my occipital bone all the way. It’s certainly lighter than my Bell Sixer.Fit: The fit is a little large, I purchased a medium/large. My skull measures 56cm’s and has a big flat spot on the crown. I wear a large in Specialized helmets, a medium in Lazer, and a medium in Fox. All of my trail helmets sit about 1.5” above my eyebrow except the Kortal Race sits only cm’s slightly above. In my mind this offers me more coverage but can be annoying as the helmet can press on my sunglass arms, hurting my ears after a while. The Kortal Race is certainly warmer than my Impala but has more ventilation than a Sixer. It’s also 90 degrees here so everything feels hot. With all this being said, the Kortal Race is still the most comfortable helmet I’ve ever worn. A new helmet has new pads that are thick, comfy and dare I say luxurious. The Kortal Race helmet pads are largely a single body versus a bunch of little pads stuck here and there, which means less gaps and crevasses for hair to have a chance to weave itself around the Mips low friction layer. This combined with the Mips Integra system that is less exposed means less bald spots for me- I’m inVisor: New out of the box, it requires more force to be moved than my other helmets ever did. It doesn’t have the same satisfying precise clicks indicating a full adjustment was made and is a two-hand operation for me. Although the more I use it the more it seems to be breaking in and becoming easier to move. Maybe I just need to eat more spinach?I would recommend the Kortal Race to folks who need a larger-sized helmet that won’t rip your hair out. I’ve been hearing that a lot of the Troy Lee (A1, A2) and Fox (Dropframe) helmets seem to be fitting snug so this could be a good option for those that need a lil’ extra room.... Show more

Very weird oblong inner shape
20 May 2024
Seems to be designed for people with extremely narrow but extremely long heads. I ordered size M, it's so narrow that I can hardly squeeze my had into it with enormous pressure and pain at the sides. At the same time I had to adjust the circumference with the dial to minimum possible leaving huge bap at the back so going a size up is not an option. My circumference is at the lower end of sizing guide for Medium. I tried lots of bike and snowboard helmets and this one is the 1st one ever that I have such problem with. Shame, because it looks really nice.... Show more

Visor removal is delicate
8 December 2023
This may be the most baller MTB helmet out there. Great looks, perfect fit (which can be dialed easily via the rear adjustment knob), and an adjustable and REMOVABLE visor. I have been wanting a hemet that I can remove the visor for when I ride the road. I know most people have separate road and MTB helmnets, but in my opinion that isn't nessecary because i don't know how much aero benefit there is in a helmet for someone that is not a road racer time trialer. Unfortunately the tiny clip that snaps in on the side of the visor cracked off the first time I removed it.... Show more

Love the new bucket. Accidentally ordered the wrong size, so I guess my little gets a new one, too. Makes sense, right?Superb comfort, light weight, and amazingly well thought out.Anecdotally, we have purchased five POC Kortal Race MIPS in the past six months. My oldest son got one for Christmas, and I’m ever so glad he did. He was riding a couple weeks ago and obliterated the helmet. Like…torched it. I’m completely convinced, from seeing the result of other head strikes with other helmets, that had he not been wearing a POC, the outcome would have been very, very different. The design of the helmet and the aramid bridge saves him from catastrophic injury. The helmet did break, doing exactly what it is supposed to do.I won’t wear another, now.
