My head circumference is 60cm. I bought the XL-XXL which is the correct size according to POCs size chart. The helmet feels very bulky and bounces around while I’m riding. It also sits very low on my forehead and falls down over my eyebrows. The helmet felt big when I tried it on, but after double-checking my measurements against the size chart, I decided to try wearing it. After a couple of rides, it is clear the helmet is too large for my head. Unfortunately POC will not let me return the helmet because it has been worn. I would discourage anyone from buying the XL-XXL unless they have a very large head. I’m disappointed that POC does not seem to have the sizing sorted for this helmet and would allow me to exchange it for a smaller one.

I picked up a couple of these in the Sigma sale. Sizing seems to suit an oval head shape.I have the model with the ‘Spin’ pads, but there is a good review online ,where you can compare those to the newer version with ‘MIPS Integra’ pads…Honestly, apart from the colour change from aqua blue to black / yellow, they’re identical.The helmet has great ventilation, and I don’t tend to notice wearing the helmet ,on 2 hour plus rides.The adjuster knob is close to the edge of the shell, at the back.It can be fiddly.This gets criticised, but the Tectal shell runs deeper at the sides and the back, so that was always likely.Visor..? Premium product, from box to finish. I'm a starting trail rider and wanted to get a helmet that would support my beginner to intermediate needs. POC is known for great quality helmets so picked this and it didn't disappoint. Great fit and comfort, sweet style with gold and light. Doesn't have MIPS (have other ones that cost more with MIPS, not that this is cheap) but MIPS isn't proven scientifically anyways and this is plenty of protection for the type of riding I do and plan to do. Went with M and I'm a 58cm in head circumference. Love it and will buy more POC!

Fits comfortably and maintains a secure fit on my brain cage. Visibility is excellent, helmet does not move, visor does not inadvertently obstruct view as with my previous unnamed helmet (top) brand. Strap system is secure doing an apparently excellent of holding the helmet in place. Visor adjustments are also secure ensuring trail visibility. MIPS would have been nice but the all black with with white lettering was only available without. Excellent helmet, recommended without reservation.
This Tectal Race Mips NFC has changed my riding by knowing I have the latest in tech and protection. The Hydro White Keeps my head cool in the Mississippi and South heat. The Safety Orange is seen at a good distance and also helps to ride thru Trails during hunting season! (White Tail Deer is popular in Mississippi and surrounding states!) Knowing the If I become inconpacitated, The TwICEme will tell the medics and EMS my info. Then RACCO system can help locate you deep in the trails or Remote areas. All this add up to a comforting product. I should have pull the trigger on the helmet for my first purchase but trying to save money was my priority back then. I highly recommend this helmet and The fit is good my nugget!
If you're looking at this helmet, know that it is not your typical bicycle helmet. This reminds me more of a hockey helmet. The Poc Tectal Race has way more protection, is larger and slightly heavier than your average road helmet. Meant mostly for mountain biking, this lid puts lots of protection around your noggin and if your riding includes greater risk, hills/trails/speed, then it's a good choice. Ventilation is good, not excellent. Would say the same for fit. I had to add foam to get the right fit on this model. Maybe the next size down would have worked, but I went with what POC recommended in a telephone consult. Well, I have to write this review, because this helmet simply saved me from serious life threating injury (as doctors said). Because of I sudden unavoidable trail obstacle I hit with quite high speed front wheel turned and hit frame while fork dived I was unable to even stretch my hands and hit the ground with my forehead. Concussion with short memory loss was only I minor repercussions because at A&E I was diagnosed with basilar skull fracture, but I was totally ok with my other health checks. Doctors sum up only I had really great luck and put me in a collar. Well, 3 months after the accident I am totally fine and 100% recovered. I am really grateful to the whole POC team, I really am. Solid helmet. I bought this in medium. I wish they had this style in M/L. Love the design. Fit is good. A little narrow on the sides when using a beanie underneath for cold weather. Other than that the fit is comfortable. This is the third POC helmet I've purchased. It does fit different than the Kortal, which comes with in-between sizes. Would like to see "green" become a standard color. Other than that, this helmet is a must.
This helmet did exactly what it was supposed to do. I had the worst mountain bike crash of my life 3 days ago. I was airlifted to my local hospital with multiple broken bones, potential spine/neck injury, and a punctured lung. I did lose consciousness for some period. The helmet breaking upon impact helped displace the force and likely saved my life. I only had to get 3 staples in my head. Will purchase this helmet again when I'm healed and ready to get back on the trail. Wish I could attach a photo of the helmet that saved me.
Looks great, super quality, and will no doubt keep my head intact. Fits unlike any other Helmet I have owned in the past. The rear section of the head cradle has no padding, so it is straight plastic-to-head there, and takes a while to adjust the tension and the fit. At the front, I find the excellent cooling also has the effect of pushing sweat down my face and it can be a battle to keep glasses clear. Also, if you tilt your head upwards, that seems to squeeze the front helmet pad, which then sends perspiration down the face.All in all it is taking some getting used to.
