Firstly, the mips integration is really slick and clean. Definitely none of that gross inner shell vibe on early mips helmets. The lack of adjustability is the biggest problem though. The drive side is locked in place because where the strap passes through the back of the helmet is glued and stitched. This means you can only adjust one side of the helmet.Next, for the price point, the level of finish is low compared to other brands. For nearly $200, I would expect trim over the EPS on the underside of the brim.I really liked the colour in the photos but in real life, the finish lacked the lustre of the studio shots. Would have to try in a shop before considering purchase again

There’s is a tiny bit of pressure at two points on the back of my skull when my mouth is shut (jaw movement affects circumference of head) so it doesn’t fit as comfy as cheaper helmets like my Giro Savant. The BOA retention can be adjusted up and down to 3 settings, I dropped it to the lowest.

Great looks, poor fit

I want to love this helmet. It looks good. It's light. Plenty of airflow. But the fit system lets it down. My head is 59cm, falling well within the 56-61cm range of the large. But when dialing in the fit with the dial in the back, the system does not allow the pads to tighten around the forehead. This is because the retention system is fixed at the front of the helmet, restricting its movement. So the sides tighten, but the front cannot. This leaves gaps at the corners, and an insecure fit. The pads are also poor for a top end helmet, and the gaps between pads means the helmet rests directly on my forehead with no padding in places. It feels fine at first, but over the course of longer rides it creates hotspots exacerbated by the poor fit system. If you've got a ... MoreI want to love this helmet. It looks good. It's light. But if it's on the narrower side, pass on this helmet.

Helmet A+, POC customer service needs to retake the test
30 October 2022

Bought this as a replacement for my wife after she fell mountain biking. The helmet did its job and protected her from a severe head injury which Im thankful. Helmet worked so well, I immediately went to re-purchase the exact same helmetSo why the low rating? Really it is for POC. Understand why they don’t have crash replacement so went to their outlet to see if I could get a discounted version of same helmet. Found one ensured it was exact same size and ordered. Upon receiving it did not fit properly so my wife wanted to return it. That’s when I learned it was non-returnable. POC has responsibility to make this more clear when ordering. Phenomenal helmets just disappointed in the customer experience when trying to be a loyal , repeat customer

POC Design is Perfecto 🤌
7 September 2022

This helmet is lightweight and extremely comfortable. I would give 5 stars, but the straps around your ears are unable to be adjusted vertically — adding more length to create a larger loop. You can however adjust the the retention straps horizontally, moving the plastic adjustment tab back and forth. I think I’ve found a comfortable setting. Another great feature is the fine tuned adjustment of the spin system and its adjustment dial to disperse pressure evenly around your head. Other helmets I’ve worn create pressure points leading to headaches, this helmet is the exception. So far I’ve put about 100 miles on the helmet and I’m loving it!

Runs small
24 June 2022

My previous helmet is a POC Ventral Spin with POC's own SPIN technology in a size large. Perhaps it's because POC switched over to using MIPS instead or because this is a different model, but this helmet fits significantly tighter than my Ventral Spin. With the dial in the loosest setting I can already feel resistance from the front and side of the helmet when putting it on; this means I can't use a sweatband to control my sweat without the helmet pushing it down. I like wearing a sweatband because it keeps the padding from getting disgustingly soaked and because I find it works a lot better in keeping sweat from dripping down my face. The straps also fit tighter to my skin compared to the Ventral Spin which is niceI wish this helmet had the same fit as my previous ... MoreMy previous helmet is a POC Ventral Spin with POC's own SPIN technology in a size large. Should you buy a POC? Of course!
29 July 2022

I have used POC products before and tend to navigate towards them for several reasons including style, trust, wide array of options, comfort and protection. When ordering from POC you know that what you are getting is high quality, very comfortable with true to size fit and can be trusted with the vast amount of research the company puts into their craft. Specifically for the Ventral Air Spin, it is just what I needed. I am adding onto my collection of an Omne and a Tectal which I have trusted to protect my noggin for a while now. The color is amazing and the ventilation is superb. If there had to be a negative it would be that the eyeglasses support pads don’t hold on as strongly as I’d expect but still doesn’t change the fact that the helmet is amazing.

Test In Store Before Purchasing SERIOUSLY. Small for remotely large heads and straps are UNADJUSTABLE!
24 May 2023

The helmet is way to small, like WAY TOO SMALL. I'm a size ~58 and this supposedly fits a size 61. I had someone with a much smaller head try it on and they didn't find the sizing right either. The adjustment at the back only elongates the helmet, but the helmet isn't wide enough to accommodate larger heads in the first place. I fit well enough in a large Fox Speedframe, but this helmet doesn't even cover the top of my head (I ordered the largest size). Furthermore, DO NOT IGNORE THE STRAP REVIEWS. The strap issue that has been pointed out by many online, on reddit, and reviews here. There was no update or fix, they are ridiculously small/short. The marketing photos of the people with the helmet on is quite deceiving. I'm assuming they are using the same size ... MoreThe helmet is way to small, like WAY TOO SMALL. The marketing photos of the people with the helmet on is quite deceiving. I'm assuming they are using the same size UNADJUSTABLE strap for all the sizes? This item was sold as a finale sale, I tried chatting with POC and explaining how the sizing wasn't quite what I expected but was eventually denied a return. Luckily I purchased it on sale so I didn't loose too much, but if I paid full price I would feel horrible. This is my first POC purchase, and paired with absurd sizing and return policy (though clearly labeled on the website and throughout the checkout process) I think I will stick to Fox for MTB and try my luck with other brands for road stuff. It might be perfect for you, but if know you don't fit well in department store/medium sized helmets, I advise that you look elsewhere or at the very least TRY IT ON FIRST.

Thankful for POC Quality
17 June 2022

A year ago I bought the POC Ventral air helmet in the small. I trusted POC helmets as a ski racer, in my opinion the quality, and style are head and shoulder above their competitors. This spring on a training ride in wet conditions, my bike slipped out from under me on a metal draw bridge. 1st contact was my left shoulder followed by a CRUNCH when I smacked my head on the metal bridge. I always make a point to tighten the halo before my ride and I am so glad I am in that habit. You never know when your going to fall and although my helmet was crushed from impact, I had no scratches on my head or face. I felt the halo hold my head snug as the exterior helmet was crushed. I did suffer a concussion from the whip lash effect but I am so so thankful for the quality of ... MoreA year ago I bought the POC Ventral air helmet in the small. The helmet is really the only "protective" piece of equipment you wear on the bike and the POC helmet was well worth the price. I also was super grateful for the Crash warrantee POC offers as I had only had my helmet 1 year at the time of my fall. Thanks again POC - I'm a life time customer :)

Unleash your Scandinavian design flair, ditch the boring colours!

This helmet has been the most comfortable and best designed cycling helmet I've owned. Handsome minimalistic geometric design, comfortable attachment mechanism, spin, turbulence reduction through science, etc. Brilliant. I don't obsess about aerodynamics and weight reduction, but it excels at those as well. The helmet's fit was true to size. The customer service is fantastic, they are committed to helping you make the best decision, are objective and the communications lead times are pretty reasonable.I live in the Canadian East coast, so, for me (and the planet), their logistics setup was not friction-less. I'll give it to them, thanks for not flying over my order, but I'm sure an East coast warehouse would be more efficient (and carbon-friendly).I take one star ... MoreThis helmet has been the most comfortable and best designed cycling helmet I've owned. If it wasn't for ill-designed attachment and ventilation systems, I would have bought a Smith trail helmet, just for those bold and stylish colour palettes and highlights. Cycling brands, please fire those toddlers that are choosing primary colours for your products (they should probable be in kindergarten).b) Because I'd have loved it if it increased its protection coverage, a bit lower down the neck and ears like a "commuter" helmet.
