Pokemon TCG Battle Academy Board Game

It’s a great game in great condition. But it wasn’t exactly what I ordered. I ordered the first edition of this game(with a different set of characters) and was sent the second edition.The game is the same but my son really wanted the first edition that was advertised as he really wanted the characters that game.

Amazing Value and a Great Way to Introduce Folks to the Game!

I've been with Pokemon from the beginning in 1999, hoping in and out a few times over the years. This was a nostalgia buy for me as my boyfriend and I were looking for an entry level jumping in point on a TCG. This set is amazing! The board is super nice, the coin is fun and jumbo-sized and the three decks are great. The manuals to walk you through your first few turns are an amazing teaching tool! My only gripe is that the tokens are super flimsy. Was a bit of a let down that they knocked it out in all the other areas and didn't use even a standard punch-token thickness for the counters. That being said it's a minor gripe. For $19.99 this is a 5-Star, Highly recommended buy!

Awesome quality! Great value

This is a great quality product. I bought it as soon as it came out and did an unboxing on Reddit. I have the Let’s Play Decks which are great in there own way, and this board game type interpretation of the TCG is great for beginners and competitive players. The main purpose is to teach beginners and I tried it out and it works well, easy basic cards and the books are great. And if someone who is competitive just wants a chill game I’d pick it up because you can also use it to teach friends and family as well as a change of play style. Overall it’s a great product. The only “issue” I had is that the Mewtwo deck says advanced which it really isn’t and they only have those three to play with. Best holiday gift for my boys!

This was a Christmas present for our family and it was the hit of our Christmas holiday!! Finally, we learned to play Pokémon after a year of collecting the cards. My 3 and 5 year old learned to play with our assistance in reading the cards and directions. Still a game that will require our help until at least one of them can read. We had so much fun with it and was able to build several other decks to use. Totally worth the price and I recommend spending the time to learn if you have kids into Pokémon.

Good For Pokemon Beginners

I ordered this as a gift for my 10-year-old son who has just started getting into Pokémon. It has been helpful to learn the basics of playing. The set up directions for the basic game are a little confusing and we had read a few times before it started to make sense. My son also got really excited when he first opened it and wanted to lay out all the cards out so he could look at them which was fine but the numbers on the card are teeny tiny so it took a long time to reorganize them to play. Overall, I would recommend this game for Pokémon beginners.

Great Value - Excellent for young children to learn to play!

My six year old is crazy about pokemon cards. This set comes with three playable pre-built decks (60 cards / deck, 180 total including 3 holos), a playing board, a coin, and instructions. Note, if you're already an avid pokemon card collector and are looking for rare / non duplicative cards, this may not be for you. Very beginner friendly, we (including myself - a female in her 30s), learned how to actually play pokemon and we had enough cards to do it properly. Before aquiring this set, we would just buy booster packs for our son and he would just make up his own rules. Great value, great beginner set!

Great purchase. Highly recommend

purchased this last year for my son for Christmas. Huge hit. This year I purchased it for my nephew who is just getting into Pokémon. lots of cards a game board. 1 special card included for each deck. It helps them learn how to play.

Misleading.

Very misleading. 3 photos show this has 5 or 6 booster packs in it. It does not. Its literally a game that has some many duplicate cards. Other than the Eevee and Pikachu V cards, its not worth anything unless youre wanting to play the actual game. Not for collectors.

Only the mat worth ten bucks

Friend bought it for me from Target when it was on sale. I will say, only the play mat with the entire package price. Then with 3 decks of 60 cards each, and 3 great looking holos. What else do you expect? For twenty bucks, you won’t find 180 cards with a hard card board mat! I plan to get one more when it’s on sale just for backup. Only tho I don’t like is the Raichu deck, a little too weak for the peers. The Raichu holo is ok, but the non-holo regular Raichus are very weak, comparing to the Raichu stage 1 in “Let’s go Pickachu” deck

Pokemon TCG: Battle Academy (2022)

The Battle Academy boxes remain a fantastic way to enter the Pokemon TCG. The price for what you get in this package is stellar. That being said, my son and I found the previous box to have decks that were both stronger and more fun to play. The decks included still seem well balanced and good for learning the game. If you are considering getting into the Pokemon TCG the Battle Academy products way be the very best way to do so.
