And it also be used as a lens cap if not using a lens hood. And the rear screw on cap provides a positive means of attachment rather than a friction cap that may fall off.An additional advantage of these units is not having to use a rectangular plastic case to house the filters. Since one end is protected by a metal cap and the other by a thick rubber, they fit more easily into my backpack.

This review is for the Peter McKinnon Signature series VND II Mist edition 6-9 filter.The build quality is very good and I love the no touch case it comes with. The vmd stops are decent, but nothing exceptional and with only 3 stops per filter, you are severely limited and for a very steep price. Add to that, the diffusion built into the Most edition, I expected to see much more diffusion. It's barely even noticeable. They need to drop this price by about $100 and that is where the value for this filter should be.PolarPro's CPL filter is excellent however, and is worth the asking price IMO. Buy that and save your money on a less expensive and more flexible VND than this series. I'm a fan of Peter McKinnon, but not these filters.

Love the ease of use, each stop has a satisfying click to let you know. However, I was a bit afraid of how the rubberized cover is taken off. I liked to switch between my Sony and moment lens depending on the shot. Unfortunately, the cover cannot be safely taken off unless it’s attached to my Sony camera. I tried to detach it while it was connected to my moment case and instead broke the lens casing on my phone. Lesson learned. Either always have the filter exposed, or don’t switch camera bodies when using it.

Recently purchased and used on an on location for a video production during daylight hours. Found it extremely well built, no color shift through all stops, no vignetting. Environment was windy and at times quite dusty so the filter had to be cleaned frequently. Using a blower and fiber wipe (included) I had no scratching (although you could if not careful). The detent clicks made the filter very easy to confidently set. The rubberized lens cap also has a nice rear screw-on cover holder on the back side to keep the cap and cover together while the filter is being used. A great purchase that made a significant enhancement on the project.
I have a brand new sigma 150-600 lens with a brand new B + W UV filter. Straight to the lens this PolarPro filter will not attach as there are two prominent issues. First, there aren't enough threads to screw on far enough and most importantly, they are not the correct pitch. In further testing, if I try to screw it to the UV filter then it binds in half of a turn and does not screw on all the way.I can not recommend a product that does not function as it is supposed to. Unfortunately, I have the exact same filters in 77mm that do not possess this issue. So I must assume this is simply a poor oversight in either PolarPro's QC and/or engineering. I will attempt to resolve the issue with B&H and will notify PolarPro to see how good their customer service really is.

Although PloarPro has more whistles and bells for packaging and stuff, the actual image is not as good as B+W.It's really hard for me to explain, but the clarity of the image, almost no vignette on B+W is a clear winner.In terms of build quality, I also can only give 3 stars. It's a brilliant system in theory. However, it feels cheap. It's not as smooth as it is supposed to be when I try to take the cap off and back. One of those filter that so invaluable for achieving shallow depth of field when creating video content outdoor in a bright condition which allows you to use wider aperture like f1.4-2.8.Premium quality and beautifully designed. Even though it's very costly and now I thinking to get 6-9 stops as well for even brighter outdoor condition.Also used to create some motion blur on my Timelapse's. It's well protected by flexible 360 rubber casing for dust/water proofing and overall protect the filter.I'm really happy with filter and worth the investment!

After trying out a handful of more budget friendly options in variable NDs, this one blows all of them out of the water. Its worth the extra bucks for this filter, for sure.I dont really care about the Peter McKinnon name on it, that's not what drew me to this filter, but the haptic feedback at each stop and the lack of cross x pattern is for me my I bought this.I'm not seeing any of that dreaded x in my video or photo files. And to me, that's a huge sell. I purchased both the 2-5 stop and 6-9 stop models and didnt see any of that x in both.Something that I liked from looking at it on the site was the protective case, but didnt think it would make a huge difference. I recently purchased the 2nd gen 24-70 2.8 GM lens for my Sony A7iii and was in need of an ND filter. I was already aware of this one because I'm a huge fan of Peter McKinnon's YouTube channel so I decided to pull the trigger and pay $250 for this filter. I used it on my trip to Sequoia National Park this past weekend and fell in love with how intuitive this filter is to use and the quality of the glass. The images came out clear without any distortion or vignetting. The carrying case/cap is also a nice touch and makes it easy to put on or remove without touching the glass. Highly recommend!
