Went to Richer sounds Liverpool to look at Sound bars - in particular the Sonos beam. The sales assistant took the time to setup and demonstrate the Sonos , Polk signa S2 and Itâs Denon twin sister. The Polk and Denon both included sub woofers for Under ÂŁ250 whereas to add a sub woofer to the Sonos was going to push the cost up to ÂŁ1000. I've only had this soundbar for a couple of weeks so far but I'm glad I bought it. It looks good and you hardly notice it sitting on the black TV table in front of my Samsung television. The sound is terrific and is further enhanced by the various features included. The "voice adjust" feature is excellent and definitely works, a great help for people whose hearing is beginning to go. The unit also has a choice of listening modes such as Movies, Music or Night mode which automatically selects the best sound output for the chosen mode. There is also a choice of input such as TV, AUX or Bluetooth. Wow...What a bargain for £149! A big thanks to the Richer Sound Telesales team for recommending this Polk Audio soundbar. I hadn't heard of Polk before, but apparently they are an American brand with the same parent company as Denon & Marantz. A sound pedigree & first impressions of this speaker's performance are very good indeed.I already have a 5.1 home cinema set-up in the lounge, but also wanted to stream music from my iTunes library in the family room which had a tv using standard speakers. This was the main reason for buying. With the bluetooth connectivity I can now easily play music from my iTunes library on my laptop. This was a gift for my mom who is now in her late seventies. I needed this to be simple to setup and operate for her. It is definitely easy and is working flawlessly. Her favorite feature is the three level dialogue option that brings up the voices. My favorite feature was the value of this system. Furthermore shipping was quick and packaging was very good. I think how it was packaged is worth mentioning because not only did it ensure safe shipping but also aided in the setup, like it just made sense how everything was packed in there and also made disposal easier. If I had a complaint it would be the bass, just not enough imo however for my mom (and her apartment) itâs perfect. I bought this soundbar and sub-woofer about 2 weeks ago and I'm really impressed with it. The sound is loud and clear, and the bass tones improve the overall ambience. Add in the voice enhancement feature, which improves voice clarity, and night mode, where you can reduce the bass if watching a movie late at night and don't want to disturb someone else and it's a really good package. Connection options are HDMI, Optical and Bluetooth. Switching between these connections is easy using the sturdy remote control. Overall, I'm very happy with the quality and value of this product and would definitely recommend it. A few reviews have mentioned disappointment about the energy saving feature where the product turns off if there has been 15 minutes of inactivity. I've installed systems in vehicles and home theater systems for many years, and am very knowledgeable when it comes to installing, connecting, troubleshooting. I can usually resolve any problem... that is until I purchased this S2 soundbar/sub for my father. The sound is awesome. Crisp highs/great lows, the sub is excellent- WHEN it works. Connecting via HDMI Arc initially worked; however, 2 days later it no longer recognizes device and using HDMI Arc is no longer an option. The optical cord will not allow volume to be controlled, and it will not come on with remote. I searched all over the net to find a better price, even through my local Best Buy store...the price was the same and online, POLK had stock. No one else did. I purchased in $CDN through their .ca website though I later found that the item would be shipped from southern California. Shipping was CRAZY FAST!! So fast I didn't have time to install it right away as was expecting to wait. The package is perfectly shaped for the item and has a carry handle that is perfectly balanced and makes the unit feel light. Also, have used the night mode so that sensitive ears elsewhere in the house are spared the bass effect. As a buyer, I would recommend the purchase of this medium soundbar/sub woofer system. Bought temporary for temporary use in a huge lounge following a flood that meant my AV sound system was going to be out of action for some time - and I couldnât bear listening to the TV speakers any longer! While obviously no match for a full AV setup the Polk fills the room with decent sound and the sub is reasonably punchy. The Polk will be going in the bedroom longer term and I fully expect it to perform extremely well in a smaller space. The instructions for set up arenât great and I needed both the scart and supplied digital cable to get kit going, and there is no mention that the tv sound output will need to be altered to âexternal sourceâ. Very pleased overall, normal efficient and quick service from Richer SoundsâŠwouldnât go anywhere else for AV needs!
