I have worn Lauren polos for 40 years, and some of the ones I still have are 30 years old. Great quality material. I own about 50 of these polos in different colors because they are a favorite Father's Day, Christmas, birthday present! The latest classic fit shirts neckline is slightly different, which causes the top edge to bump against my neck, which the old "classic" shirts did not due. The back tail is shorter than it was before, probably because so many guys wear the shirt outside of their pants instead of tucked in, so I would like it an inch or so longer. Other than that, you can't go wrong with this shirt. I do actually wear these for tennis also, and they work great - that's where you need the longer tail if you wear the classic Lauren Polo tennis shorts.

I ordered the Lifeboat Green Medium (slim fit mesh) and the Starboard Red Medium (slim fit mesh). The Lifeboat Green is perfect, the fit in the chest, the sleeves don't bow out, the length is jus right and fabric is soft. However the Startboard Red shirt is narrower in the chest, the sleeves bow out, the length is shorter and the fabric is rough. I looked at the labels and the perfect Lifeboat Green shirt is made in Turkey whereas the Starboard Red is made in Vietnam. I would of thought the fit and material would be the same but it isn't and for that reason I'm returning the the Starboard Red. If it's made in Turkey the quality and fit are much better at least in this direct comparison.
I have been a customer for decades. Unfortunately the quality of your polo shirts continues to go down while the price goes up. It is sad. I have polo shirts that are ten years old and they have longer tails and much softer cotton than these new ones. The new ones are like cardboard and not long enough to be tucked in. I assume your competitors are doing the same thing. I hope this review gets to someone who can do something to improve the quality of your products…a long time customer

The cotten material is thin, the shirt sleeve bands are already stretched out of shape, and have shrunk to a size that almost makes them too small to wear, and still look like it fits properly. Over the past few years I have tried on countless mesh polos to find the best fit. I've tried Classic fit in M and L, Custom fit in L and XL, and Original fit in M and L. The sizing is all over the place with no consistency. My two most recent purchases, both unwashed. Both classic fit size L. Both made in Turkey. One measures 23.5x30.5 and one measures 25x29.25. This is far from an acceptable manufacturing variation for clothing at this price point.
I've been wearing polo shirts for over 50 years, and have had pretty well every brand. But they just don't last like RL: I've still got some that are nearly 20 years old and they're still going strong. So RL are more expensive than most - but as they last 3 or 4 times as long as other makes, they're better value. And because they're THE classic polo, they never date. And. of course, they look good! It's just a shame that so few retailers, e.g. John Lewis, only stock Custom Slim and not Classic fit. Classic is slightly wider and has slightly longer sleeves, but still fits well across the shoulders - so better for the less-than-perfect physique 🤣. I now buy online direct from RL to get them.

They are thick and stiff, which stops them from flopping around like I've experienced with other brands. The overall fit is very unique and almost feels like it is custom designed to fit me.
