Portable Apple Carplay & Android Auto Car Display Screen | Ottocast Car Screen + Rear Camera

Im very impressed with this little CarPlay display. I mainly purchased it because of the size. I wanted something with a large enough screen that wouldnt obstruct my visualization when driving and this fit the bill perfectly. I was surprised with the flexibility of mounting options and wound up using the suction cup with base on top of the dash so that Id still be able to use my factory back-up cameras and infotainment system. I am not planning on using the front and rear dash cams but a 64 GB SD card came preinstalled and the camera quality seems excellent. The screen itself is responsive and the display quality is excellent. I am using an iPhone and having audio routed to my vehicle via Bluetooth (from the phone) so I dont have to use the auxiliary cable or FM ... MoreIm very impressed with this little CarPlay display. I keep the display screen muted but the speakers on its are reasonably loud. I reached out to customer support to install a custom start up image and they were very responsive. So far I am overall very pleased with my purchase!

Best Apple CarPlay screen

Better than expected

Ill be 100% honest. I went in thinking hey let me try this out since I know if it doesnt work they will take it back. I expected this to be clunky and not to work but boy was I wrong. This actually functions very smooth. The front camera is decent but I honestly wont use it where Im placing this device. The sound on it is not the greatest but I was quickly able to pair my phone on my cars bluetooth and was able to bypass the sound of this. I went fully expecting it to not work like majority of crappy devices and boy was I wrong. Im glad i was wrong as this fits perfectly where Im placing it. The CarPlay itself connects automatically within about 10 seconds of the car starting.Update: I finally installed the back up camera as where I put my device blocked the view ... MoreIll be 100% honest. Big screen but needs improvement

I have purchased this unit few days back and started using it. Based on my one week trial run, my comments are as followsAdvantages(1) Big screen(2) Car play works fineNeeds improvement(1) the Parking monitor menu as shown in the user manual is not available.(2) For software update , you need to download the sofware in a micro SD card. There is no option for wifi update(3) For some reason my iphone is connected to carplay but the bluetooth connection between this dasboard and iphone is showing not connected(4) The display is too wide and as a result the google map or waze map shows too wide. It is not convenient when you are at an intersection of the highway(5) Wifi option is not available although the same is mentioned in user manual(6) for some reason ... MoreI have purchased this unit few days back and started using it. Dashcam, Form Factor, Functionality All Good

A cigarette lighter power supply is provided, but in my vehicle, powering the device from a USB port instead of taking up the entire cigarette lighter slot is preferable. However, if you omit the included power supply and just use a USB port to power the screen, you will not have access to the FM radio transmitter, which is built into the cigarette lighter power supply. Your option for sound is then the wired auxiliary port only. But that works fine for me. It doesnt take up a lot of visual space in the windshield area of the car, but the wideness provides ample real estate to show both camera feeds at once, or to show driving directions in the left side and your media controls on the right side. And its big enough to be useful for actually seeing driving directions, etc.Finally, I love the fact that this unit has a front and rear dash cam. This is the first wireless Carplay unit Ive seen that has a dashcam in it. I had been lamenting the fact that I dont have enough room or outlets in my vehicle to host both a Carplay unit and a dashcam. But now I can have both. The video provided by the dashcams is clear and crisp, and can be set for either 720p or 1080p. The unit comes with a 64GB micro SD card, and the unit is set to automatically record as soon as its booted up.I did take the time to mount the rear camera in the back of my vehicle and connected it to the head unit, which was simple. The hardest part is finding things to tuck the wire into as it makes its way from rear to front. The whole installation took me about 25 minutes. I did not hook the backup camera trigger wire up, because my vehicle has a built in backup camera which displays on the rear viewmirror. So in my case, the rear camera functions as a dashcam only. Either camera can be viewed as you drive down the road, which is handy if youre pulling a trailer. But it is a wide angle camera, so seeing details in the rear camera as youre driving down the road isnt likely.As for the firmware and the computer hardware, its more than adequate. The unit is normally booted up and showing my iPhone on its screen before I can leave the block Im parked on. Its not the fastest, but I have not yet been annoyed by anything software or hardware related. It works fine.I mentioned that this is not the most expensive Carplay Ive tried. It is affordable, especially considering its also a front and back dashcam. But, its not a bargain miracle. It does feel a little bit light weight and simply made. Its not clear to me how well this will fare on a dashboard in a desert summer. But, at this price, Im pretty optimistic.Anyway, I have a box full of dashcams and a couple of other Carplay screens, and this is the one Im using because this is the only unit that combines dash cam with Carplay, because I like the form factor, because I hate big knobby power adapters in my dashboard and this unit lets me skip that.

Good for Android Auto

I bought this for my wife's car and she's very pleased using Android Auto with it. It reconnects automatically reasonably quickly, and the wide screen is very nice to show maps on one side and music, etc., on the other. She wasn't necessarily looking for a dash cam, but that's definitely an great "plus" for this price and she likes the idea of that recording. (Her car already had a backup camera so she won't be using this unit for that.)She hasn't had it drop connections at all. I'll update this review if that does happen.It's also really nice that you can change the initial start-up screen (the screen that comes on when starting the car) to a personal picture or logo by emailing the company. Great device!

This device is amazing! I have a Mercedes C300- 2016 which doesnt support carplay by default so was looking for something like this for a while.I didnt want to power it through the cigarette lighter power, for that I will have to keep my panel open all the time. I prefer the neatness and like everything to look like factory settings. So Im powering it through my USB output, where the type C goes into the device. I already have a backup camera so didnt feel the need to connect one more, just using the dashcam.Cable management was pretty easy for me. Whole setup took me about 15 minutes with no inch of wire visible.I use the Audio output for music through my cars output via Bluetooth (No Aux or FM transmitter) where the navigation audio comes through the device. ... MoreThis device is amazing! There's a couple of things that are annoying about this thing, but generally it's really good for what it is.-The startup tune is obnoxious, too loud, and there's no way to disable it-I needed a "ground loop isolator" to make the audio good in my car. Without the isolator, the 3.5mm audio had a lot of static and artifacts. Just another $10 part, but given the application it probably should be included with all units.-The startup screen is not cool and is obnoxious. Should be an option to disable it / just do a black screen.-Make sure if you're going to use some other USB-C adapter than the one provided that the adapter can actually power the thing. I noticed only 1/3 of my wall adapters worked, even though 2/3 of them supported PD. Perfect for my needs

My vehicle did not include Apple CarPlay, but did not want to remove the factory infotainment system. This product solved my issue. Setup was super easy upon unboxing. It connected flawlessly with both my IPhone and Android device. I chose to use the Bluetooth option, which works great. I was able to figure out how to use it with assistance from the sellers instructions online. Slight delay with Siri response but not an issue for me! The device boots up when I start my vehicle. I was also able to get a customized boot logo from the seller; they provide clear instructions which made set up easy. I do like having the option for a dash cam, in case needed during an emergency. They have been very responsive with addressing my concerns.My only complaint is that the audio for directions from Waze or Apple Maps does not come through car speakers when connected to Bluetooth. The directions come through the devices speakers which may be hard to hear with background noise. Also, I wish the device could be removed from the mount without having to remove the entire mount. Neither of these are dealbreakers for me. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this product and have already recommended it to others. This product will modernize any vehicle that youre driving.

It fits well on the dashboard of my vehicle without taking up too much space and obstructing my view of the other side of the windshield while still having a nice, large, clear screen and easy to manage interface. As a fun bonus there was an insert with this unit stating that I could have a personalized boot up screen that comes on when the unit powers up -- this was done by emailing customer support my preferred photo and they sent back a file with instructions on how to load it to the unit. The only thing that has been less than ideal is the aux connection. This is an issue I have had with any device I have tried to connect via aux in this vehicle so I cannot fault this unit. The sound is fantastic through the FM radio connection. And the stand alone speaker in the unit itself is adequate if for some reason you don't want to run the audio through your car speakers.
