Excellent Markers!

I’ve been using Prismacolor products since I was a teen, I’m way past those years now, but I still color and draw. I never got the chance to use Prismacolor markers though until now and I am in love. I love the dual ends that allows for thin or thick lines or filling in. The ends of the markers have a thick or thin line so you know which end you’re opening. The colors are bold and bright and you don’t get those annoying stripes that you get coloring with subpar markers. I’ll never go back to regular markers again.

I purchased the 72-count Prismacolor marker set for my daughter as a professional-grade alternative to highly-odorous alcohol based markers; which aren't ideal for low ventilated work areas. We were both pleasantly surprised at the superb blending versatility, and saturation quality of these Prismacolor markers! As an invaluable added bonus, this product does not emit any strong odors; which is highly typical for most other alcohol-based markers. Absolutely fantastic!

My husband and I use Prismacolor markers on bristol, illustration board, and sketchbook paper. I personally have always preferred Prismacolor to Copics. Our previous set of markers was purchased in 2003 - 2004, and sat idle for a couple of years after that until we picked them up again earlier this year. To our delight, the markers (which were stored in the boxes and hard plastic cases in a drawer out of any especially extreme or dry conditions) still worked as well as when we put them away. They only seem to dry out, therefor, through excessive use. Well, we achieved that level of excess this year, and finally needed to replace a fair few of our favorites. When we saw Blick's deal on the set of 72 we could not pass up on it. We will get doubles of the ones we use most commonly by placing orders for single markers. The box that the set of 72 comes in is more durable than that of the 12-qty sets, but the way it is folded results in the sides falling open more often than not, and the trays within are not especially rigid. We are still looking for the perfect solution to storing and sorting our Prismacolor markers.

5 stars because even though some of the markers weren't working, they all got replaced! Blick even sent new markers before my return had been processed because I needed them for a project. They did tell me that it is best practice to test out all your markers when you get them to ensure they all work.Glad I was able to get everything fully functioning! Great kit!

Nice Markers!
20 September 2021

These markers are great. Each one is 2-sided. One side is a large chisel point, which is so versatile and can be used to make big bold strokes or just use the point to make more detailed finer lines. The other side is a fine point which can be used for detailed work. The colors are so pretty and versatile. You can vary the shade by pressing lighter/harder or going over it again for a darker look. These markers are also pretty thick, which makes them comfortable to hold and use for longer periods of time. They look great on paper and do not bleed through.

The box of 200 is amazing.

Other than coloring in kindergarten, I have never taken an art class or had any inclination towards art. Faced with a long plane ride, I bought some adult coloring books and some inexpensive markers at the dime store. I was really struggling with staying in the lines and streaks, but worst of all was the lack of color choices. Coloring turned out to be good for my mental focus, eye/hand coordination, and dexterity. So before giving up on it altogether, I hunted around for a pen set with variety. These pens definitely cost more than what I had been using, and I wondered if they were really any better. And honestly, I struggled with the fact that I'm "not an artist" and whether they would be wasted on someone like me. And honestly, I struggled with the fact that I'm "not an artist" and whether they would be wasted on someone like me. They arrived today, and I could not be more pleased. Having the proper tools really does make a difference! There is some streaking, but not bad at all, and they are smooth enough that I can keep a more even stroke. The 200 different colors to choose from is a delight for someone who knows nothing about shading and mixing. I may never make anything worth framing, but for me it's about the process. These pens make the process fun. Even the box is fun. You can't tell from the picture, but it folds out to make a little work station with a color chart, and pigeon holes for groups of pens. The pens do fit in pretty tightly, so I just took some out and put them in a baggie to make it easer to use the slots. Great product.

Vibrant
1 December 2021

This is my favorite set of markers ever! I have been a fan of Prismacolor for well over 20 years now. The dual tipped marker is my favorite medium to work with. The color is super vibrant. The colors are also true to their label and meet all my expectations. The chisel tip is perfect for broad strokes and holds up its shape through the life of the marker. The fin point is nice as well. I like the colors in this set in particular.

Vivid colors - great markers!
21 December 2021

These are definitely not the plain old crayola markers that everyone buys. These colors are beautiful and seem to last. We have used them quite a few times with no dry out in sight. My favorite part about this set is that it's basically two for one. On one end of the marker is a thick tip and the other end is skinny. This way you can use your markers for different projects and not have to buy two sets. I would recommend these markers to the artist or the kid at heart that wants to color to relieve stress!

great markers

I love prismacolor premier double ended art markers. I already had a set of French Greys, but needed to expand to the Cool Greys and the Warm Greys so that I had more versatility in my marker shading arsenal. I have found that I prefer the double ended brush tip set for use of grey in smaller areas, but that I prefer the double ended with the chisel tip for laying down color in larger areas. I've had to practice with the chisel tip to achieve similar effects to what is rather effortless with the brush tips, but it is possible to do. I do not like to use my brush tips in large spaces at all. I cannot compare these to other high end markers because copics were too far out of my price range, but the prismacolors have wonderful deepness of color and are easy to piece a decent set together that doesn't break the bank and gives you more colors to work with if you watch for sales and rebates. I prefer to use these on marker paper. Depending on the newness of the markers and the type of marker paper you use, you can end up with almost a water color effect. That said, my favorite marker paper to use with them is the Canson XL for both cost and superior layering ability. I have found that I can use my pigma micron pens on that paper with a faster dry time and lower likelihood of the markers causing the pigmas to bleed if they come in contact with each other. On slicker marker paper, I've found the pigma micron ink has to dry much longer before I run a lower risk of the ink muddying my picture if my markers come up against it. These have been lovely markers to use and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for someone wanting to get into marker art with a good quality marker that won't send you to the poor house to get. Oh, and I've tried them on bristol board with nice effect, but the bristol board really drinks the ink.

i love Prismacolor markers
26 April 2021

I've always loved Prismacolor markers. I use them for adult coloring even though they are artist grade markers. They are alcohol-based markers and so they bleed through paper. The marker's ink is very vibrant and rich. They have a dual end with a brush tip and a fine tip. The brush tip seems to release ink quicker than the finer tip - with that in mind I tend to use the brush tip side for larger areas and the fine tip for smaller details since I can control the ink lay-down better. The markers, unlike other name-brand artist grade markers, are NOT refillable. This set is a good basic set for someone who's just starting out with them.
