Prismacolor Premier Pencils - 12 Set

They are soft yet firm. The colors are so vivid and pretty. They sharpen ok. I haven't had one break on me yet. For someone who is just getting started in coloring the set would be a good stand alone set. The range of colors is good. They blend and shade well. I only want my products to do what they are suppose to do. I've been using these for a few months and I have enjoyed them. If the Premieres are as good as these I will save up to get their largest set. These pencils are great I would recommend them to any body who likes to color draw, epically for those who rely want to get into all that stuff.

All the Colors You Need

This set has almost every color one could need, nice packaging in a metal box. The pencils are of the usual good quality one expects of Prismacolor. I don't know why they didn't arrange the colors in color groups, because that took me some time to do, but none of the fabricators seem to think that is worthy. I do so I can easily find the shades i want. That's the only complaint! Good value with a Michael's coupon too.

Amazing what these can do

I recently started looking into sketching and pencil art when paint fumes from my acrylics started giving me headaches. I started with the kid's brands and found this very slow art form to be quite relaxing and beautiful once the pieces are complete. This brand can be used with other brands or on it's own to create very realistic and beautiful art. I bought a good mechanical sharpener and have had zero problems with keeping a point on them even though they are creamy and vivid. Very happy with this purchase.

Excellent quality, vibrant colors

I bought very first box of Prismacolor pencils for my daughter on a yard sale, when she was very little. The box just looked nice. Now, when my daughter is in a university studying Arts, she recalls that very first box of quality pencils that let her know the difference between just pencils and good pencils. I am clueless in arts myself, but have a real life source I can trust. Great pencils.

Overall good pencils, just some caution

Really good pencils for blending since they're soft, especially if you use a heating pad underneath your drawing so the colors will melt and blend together. There's a great variety of colors. A lot of them are really saturated but there's also some good ones that are not as bright. There's lots of grays which is great. The only thing is that it doesn't come with a colorless blender and the very dark colors seem to not blend as well as the lighter ones, but it's okay as long as you save your darks for last. Sometimes when you really go hard with the pencil on the paper to achieve the smooth and uniform look, little specks of the color tend to also come off as well. Prismacolor colored pencils

These colored pencils changed my life. I’m an artist by profession and in my spare time (whatever that is). I’ve used other colored pencils but they lay down color as nice as discount store toilet paper feels on a sore backside. But Prismacolor pencils are in a league of their own. So smooth, creamy and easy to blend, it was an experience that left me in ecstasy compared to the scratching of the inferior sticks with which I was trying to work with. The colors are an ocular delight; so vibrant and rich compared to the dull, lifeless hues that have assaulted my eyes in the past. I love coloring with them and will continue to do so. Thank you for making a product that I like.

Really good collection: intermediate and above.

I love these pencils. This set has a good variety of colors and tones. They are all at the quality you would expect from prisma pencils. I highly recommend these pencils if you are familiar with colored pencils? If not I would recommend a smaller cheaper set. I can't justify the price for beginners or anyone who usn't certain they will regularly use it.Beyond that, it is a great set that should be able to supply most of your needs when coloring.P.s. if you aren't familiar with prismatic, these pencils are wax based. I feel they are better than most others in my experience. Even though I haven't broken any I can see how someone may with too much pressure but for most people you will not be that ruff.

Retired colors and replacement colors not included

I have been using a set of Crayola colored pencils for quite a while and have been wanting to upgrade to the Prismacolor pencils because they are so deliciously soft and creamy. These don't disappoint! I only have 2 complaints: One is that they frequently break - and break again - when you try to sharpen them, which ends up wasting a lot of (expensive) pencil. I have tried numerous sharpeners with the same result. The other disappointment is that the set of 150 does not contain the 2 retired colors, Lavender and Lilac, NOR does it contain their replacement colors, Orchid and Amethyst. I didn't learn about the retired colors until after purchasing this set and was very surprised that for the price, this set contained neither one. Set is Expensive, but Worth the Price

This set of Prismacolors is absolutely amazing. It comes with every color in the Premier set line, and they are such good quality pencils. They blend together very well, are vibrant, and don't break easily. The wood is okay, but the pigment of the pencils are great. Goes down on paper very well. Would highly recommend. The set is expensive, but you get very high quality pencils.

Would recommend to others

Exceeds expectations.Prismacolor premier pencils are vibrant. They have a soft, waxy lead, however it does not seem to "clump" like crayons unless you try to blend two colors bluntly, without proper blending.I make my drawings very vivid, so I smooth and blend the pencil until the entire picture has a think coat of the pencil...this lends to a smooth and glossy finish on the drawings.Definitely would purchase again. These colors are more beautiful, and have potential for greater contrast, than the scholar set.
