Pro-Ject - Debut Pro - Turntable

$1,079.00

(96 reviews)

The Debut PRO brings an absolutely new design to Pro-Ject turntables. The audiophile turntable is convincing in all respects not only visually, but more importantly also in terms of sound. The precision CNC milled parts are optically perfectly coordinated and lead the Debut PRO to its modern simple, elegant and unprecedented design. The nickel finish of all these aluminium components result in a hard, resistant surface. This process enables Pro-Ject to produce very high-quality and sustainable components and avoid plastics and similar materials that continue to age over time and would more importantly also degrade sound quality. The tonearm bearing is a completely new design. Precision CNC'd out of a single block of aluminium, you can see all the production stages above. The last step is putting a nickel finish on it. This will increase the rigidity of the bearing, ensuring free and fluid movement of the tonearm and precise tracking without material degration in looks or function.

A fantastic upgrade to the Debut Carbon!

Got this delivered earlier this month as soon as it was in stock. What a fabulous upgrade to the debut carbon.Wonderfully sounding cartridge with the right level of treble and bass. Much less surface noise and very easy to balance with the tool provided.Nice touch with the speed selector switch which was sadly missing from the Debut Carbon. All in all, a fantastic turntable.

This is an exceptional turntable for this price range. I have paired this up with a Cambridge Audio ALVA Duo phono stage (purchased together with the turntable)- and therefore I have the bonus of a great headphone amp. This is currently hooked up to an older Cambridge Audio Azur amp - and sounds amazing. The fitted Pick-It cartridge is based on the Ortofon 2M range - so I have switched over an ortofon Blue stylus - which I had already, The fitted stylus is good nonetheless. This latest indulgence was bought from the Reading branch - as ever - friendly and knowledgable staff.

Purchased online for a click and collect at Kingston having visited the store a couple of weeks earlier to look at the turntables. Everything was completely smooth and to time. Very good service.I am playing the turntable using the phono input on a NAD C658 DAC, all digital processing off for this port, with a NAD C268 power amp and Monitor audio silver 600 speakers. It simply blows my old Rega P2 out of the water, making by Audiolab 6000 CDT sound quite dry and analytical in contrast. And I love that drive! So far, the turntable, with only the puck added as an extra, has brought life to base lines (Paul Simon’s “You Can Call Me Al” a great example), shown detail I had not heard before (someone playing a triangle on an Elvis 1960s B side), made the xylophone on the ... MorePurchased online for a click and collect at Kingston having visited the store a couple of weeks earlier to look at the turntables. The whole sound has depth and fills my room. Very happy indeed.

The anti skate weight is irritating as it keeps falling off. I have googled the issue and I am not alone. The nylon thread on the grooved arm slips off even with very careful handling. Otherwise it is a nice turntable but there is no fine speed adjustment control. You get what you pay for.Richer Sounds set it up for me and they were five star excellent.

I added an acrylic platter which improved the quality of the sound. I wasn't impressed with the Sumiko Rainier cartridge and upgraded to a Denon DL-110 moving coil cartridge which was a huge improvement. I'm waiting on the Pro ject upgraded cable and upgraded metal turntable under platter.

Purchased after helpful advice from Andy at the Leicester store. Delivery was next day. Turntable is excellent, easy to set up although counterweight is a touch fussy. Great sound, good top end extension and the mid range is superb. Tight, agile bass too. Overall a very positive purchase and buying experience.

Smart looking, generally easy to set up, great sou

My first Project turntable. All seems good quality. Parts are nicely weighted and nickle plated. Speed switch is gorgeous. Good quality phono leads with earth are supplied . Set up is straight forward, although fine tuning the tracking is easier using a digital scale than the supplied see/saw . However, I have set up easier nylon line anti skate systems than this one. When set to the end groove on the tone arm antiskate hook (per the excellent online instruction from Project for this very deck) the line continually fell off when the arm was return to the home position. Adjusting the angle of the wire antiskate support (easy with the supplied tool) improved matters greatly, but there is a fine point on the adjustment beyond which the nylon line shoots the other way ... MoreMy first Project turntable. Adjusting the angle of the wire antiskate support (easy with the supplied tool) improved matters greatly, but there is a fine point on the adjustment beyond which the nylon line shoots the other way up the hook! Handily the hook is the same size as the ink tube in a common brand of yellow biros, and a simple 1mm ring cut from the end of one of these tubes pushes on the hook perfectly. Probably not a recommended bodge but it looks neat and works well. I love the sound of this deck it makes all my 40 year records sound cleaner with less pops and crackles than I would have believed. To conclude, nice update over the Evo although sub platter is still plastic, and the Pro Puck is an optional extra if you can find one.Beware: you will need a phono stage, you also will need an amp with an earth screw as the power supply provided is not earthed.

I purchased this to replace my 1999 Pro-Ject Debut which is still in fine working condition. This is a big upgrade all round, sound is clear & well balanced. All the important hardware motor ,pick up &arm ,platter etc . The overall design best described as minimalistic is excellent. No time wasted on showy gimmicks. It will end up in the design museum if it’s not already there.

Took time and research over updating my Turntable with a number of excellent candidates in the sub ÂŁ1,000 segment I finally settled on thek mimaliat but exceptionally well built Project Debut Pro Not disappointed either tremendous detail and an engaging presentation of the vinyl I have playes so far. Upgrade to the leather mar has further enhanced the output of this quality machine. As ever very prompt delivery from Richer Sounds.

Wow, a fantastic upgrade from Debut Esprit
14 June 2022

I am only a few weeks but I am very, very impressed. This was very easy to set up and the clarity of sound and the soundstage is impressive. I also decided to buy the aluminium sub-platter and this has also made an enormous difference to the sound and stability of the turntable. I would recommend that if you can afford the upgrade you should do so.I also had a play about with the acrylic platter from the Debut Esprit but I would say that it is better with the original platter and the aluminium sub-platter.Next step is the record puck!
