I've had the pro mask for several months now and I can say it's better than your standard flat sleep mask but it's not $70 better. First off the eye cups have a huge lip of stitching that goes around them so you I can't get them close enough to be truly a good fit.The way that the foam is in the cups they still leak light from the bottom into the mask. I'd the foam in them was memory foam that molded to your face then I could see them being great and might justify the higher cost, but they aren't. Even at this point, how the foam in the cups is feeling I don't see it lasting a long time either. The issue with the strap is that the left over strap in the back flops around because there is only Velcro on one side so you have to make it lay flat after you already ...Ā MoreI've had the pro mask for several months now and I can say it's better than your standard flat sleep mask but it's not $70 better. As I previously stated, better than a standard flat sleep mask but not $70 dollars better, perhaps I would be okay with $50 but for $70 if want premium materials and some better fit engineering. There are actually masks on Amazon that use real memory foam, have eye cups and are a lot cheaper than the manta pro, so I'd say maybe try those before you spend the 70 bucks.

My daughter purchased the original mask for me when I complained about my terrible sleep after surgery for breast cancer. She's knows about them from a friend who also has sleep issues. As an exclusive side sleeper I purchased the PRO sleep mask myself and have been wearing them (use the original for naps and travel) nightly for more than a month. They really do block light and are very comfortable to wear, the PRO definitely working better for side sleeping though the orignal works too. I'm able to sleep even if my husband is watching TV or reading with a light on in bed. I'm able to leave a light on if I go to bed earlier than him. When traveling I don't have to worry about extraneous lights I can't control. Iām giving the PRO mask a middle of the road rating because although the cups are removable and technically replaceable, out for over a year and there are no cup available to purchase. I believe Manta suggests you replace the cups every 6 months or so, which is fine for my other masks (because theyāre sold separately)ā¦. But the foam on one side of my PRO mask got hard and scratches my face. Customer Supports answer was ābuy a new oneā. Now I bought a weighted mask, both hot and cold cups, and the PRO mask over a year ago and you can do the math. The PRO mask has only been used recently (a few months at most) as my significant other discovered my weighted mask and took it for her own. Of the courses of a few months the PRO mask went from the best thing in the world ...Ā MoreIām giving the PRO mask a middle of the road rating because although the cups are removable and technically replaceable, out for over a year and there are no cup available to purchase. I was very excited to get my hands on one of these masks after seeing a friend with one. I had spent months trying to find a decent sleep mask and had not realized that ones truly designed to comfortably fit the face existed. Enter Manta Pro! This mask fits perfectly, with adjustability in the eye cups to fit any face shape. The eye cups fit around my eyes and do not interfere with blinking at all.Being this is such an expensive purchase, I would expect the following things to be better designed:1. The inner material of the eye cups, even when only washing in the provided mesh bag, start to come apart. This means the material pulls away from the foam of the cup itself and bends in toward the eye, causing interference with eyelid/eyelashes.2. The cups for the Manta Pro are not sold separately like the cups for all the other options. I found this to be a surprise, and very frustrating for paying such a price for the mask initially.3. The wavy rubber on the inside of the mask straps is not as grippy as I would have expected. There is room for improvement here as the mask still slips off my face and I would say that the rubber waves are no grippier than the material of the mask itself. Bummer. If these minor issues could be improved upon, this mask would be the holy grail of sleep masks. It works well on everything else it promises.
Iāve had this sleep mask for more than a year now. It was on the pricey side, but, overall worthwhile. I havenāt found anything better. Itās incredibly comfortable. Most masks drive me crazy with something digging in somewhere at just the wrong place, but this one feels great all over. It is blackout dark to the point where sometimes I go to bed with the lights still on and I canāt see a thing. Living in a hot climate it does make my face sweat despite the airflow design. Iāll take it over the alternatives, especially silk. The mask is not perfect at staying on my face throughout the night, although stays more often than not. Maybe 80% of nights or higher. The gel really helps in general though, itās a smart feature. The last is that man it has gotten really stinky ...Ā MoreIāve had this sleep mask for more than a year now. The gel really helps in general though, itās a smart feature. The last is that man it has gotten really stinky a few times. I of course wash it when it does. I know it came with a mesh bag but I didnāt use it. So what Iām about to say could well be due to that, however, the overall structure has diminished somewhat, and the color has degraded significantly from the wash; itās just⦠well worn. Not unusable. In fact it is on my face right now and I intend continue to use it for a while longer. I would definitely recommend this mask, especially over cheap alternatives. It is worth it. I did originally wish I wouldāve gotten the one with headphones in it, but I donāt like on-ear masks. Iām curious about the base level mask from Manta, and wonder how much better this one is from that one. I imagine theyāre both pretty good, but the pro has served me really well.
Super disappointed in this āproā mask! I have the original side sleeper manta sleep mask with a thin adjustable elastic band. Iām so bummed manta doesnāt make that design anymore! This pro sleep mask doesnāt work at all. The material is not soft like the original one. The adjustable strap has no elasticity. have a smaller head and I have to secure the strap super tight, otherwise it slips down my head at night. This means I wake up with a headache and lines imprinted into my face from the face mask being on so tight. It does not stay above the ears like they claim either. I donāt find the ācā shaped eye cups to be better than the full round eye cups, and Iām a 100% side sleeper. The round cups are much softer and much more comfortable. Iām returning this! I reeeeally wanted to like this mask. I got this one specifically for the tapered cups that are supposed to be better for side sleepers. I'm a side sleeper, and the mask isn't comfortable enough to sleep on my head for the entire night. I always wake up having slipped it off, but by then, it's dark enough for me not to use it. Then when it brightens in the morning, I pull it on again until it's time to get out of bed.Even though the sides are tapered, the cups still press into my cheek and brow bones more than I'd like. The sensation mostly dissipates enough that I can fall asleep, and I find if I push my face to the edge of the pillow so there's less material to push into my skull, it's more comfortable.I didn't want to tighten the mask too much, because the ...Ā MoreI reeeeally wanted to like this mask. The sensation mostly dissipates enough that I can fall asleep, and I find if I push my face to the edge of the pillow so there's less material to push into my skull, it's more comfortable.I didn't want to tighten the mask too much, because the cushions aren't the most comfortable against my facial bones, so there is a little light leakage around my nose, especially when I'm lying on my side, but I only notice it when I open my eyes. When my eyes are closed with the mask on and I'm lying on my side, the brightness isn't a problem at all.I was really concerned about the mask steaming up and not being able to breathe against my skin, but it's actually been pretty comfortable and cool, even on extremely hot summer nights. I haven't had an issue with the material it's made out of. Overall, it's really well designed and constructed. The mask is ideal for using if I'm napping on the floor on my back. It's probably the only time I've been able to nap during the day in summer. Unfortunately, during the night, I do sleep on my sides, and it's only just okay for that.As for everyday care, once I've positioned the cups and adjusted the velcro strap to fit my head, I haven't readjusted them. Even when I'm washing the mask, I keep everything right in place. I do this because I've read some other reviews that say the velcro starts to wear out after a while, so this is my attempt at keeping everything more in tact.Even though I hand-wash the mask and hang up to dry, I've noticed that one of the cups had some snagged fabric. I brought the issue up to customer service, and they sent me replacement cups. This four star rating is for the great design and construction and the ideas behind them, and the excellent customer service. Knocking off one star for not being completely comfortable for side sleeping.
This mask does a good job at not touching your eyes, at the expense of some other things that make a sleep mask great. When sleeping on your back, the chunky profile of the strap in the back will push into your head unless your pillow is VERY plush. I like firmer pillows so this wasnāt great for me.This is also advertised as very side-sleeper friendly. I found that when sleeping on my side, the pressure caused the cups to push upwards, allowing light to slip in underneath. Also, if attempting to nap in a brightly lit room, this mask absolutely lets light pass right through. Kind no of wild this made it through development. Test it yourself. In a lit room, put the mask on and put a hand over one eye. I feel like a sucker. I paid $76 for this thing, and it is no more effective nor resilient than any of the five dollar sleep masks available anywhere. While sitting completely still and upright, sure, I can get this mask to block out 100% of light ā no different than any other product of similar design ā but as soon as I lay down and move around, that number drops to about 80% if Iām lucky. The eye caps donāt stay put, so Iām frequently adjusting it while I sleep, which is just as disruptive to my sleep as too much light. But thatās not even the worst of it. See, before I received the mask, I had some concern about the āC-shaped cupsā inside the mask, assuming the reddish inside cups were going to be somewhat rigidā¦but I figured these folks are confidently asking $70+ for this thing, so they mustāve done something right. Hooboy. No, those ācupsā are just a certain shape of fabric. And, over time, that fabric becomes loose, and flappy, and makes contact with your eyes. In fact, since I had to tighten the mask a bit to ensure it doesnāt move around too much, that added tension on the eye cups tends to cave them inward, so that loose fabric is really just pressing against my eyes. So, all the benefit of having those donut pillows is completely gone. And since it makes contact with my eyes, it makes than water, which discolors the fabric. Iāve had this mask for seven months, and while on the outside it still looks fine, I wouldnāt want anyone to see the inside. If this were a $15 sleep mask ā the price I paid someone on Craigslist for a standard Manta sleep mask, after theyād had it for a week and didnāt like it ā I wouldnāt have bothered to review it. I expect a cheap mask to disappoint, and need replacement once in a while. But truly, every last bit of attention to detail on this āproā sleep mask was put into making the outside look nifty. Thatās worthless. Itās the sleep experience that counts, and in that regard this product ā which, again, SEVENTY SIX DOLLARS when I bought it ā fails miserably at delivering its promise. Of course, this review will never see other customersā eyeballs, because thatās not how any of this works. But I guess I gotta at least try, yāknow?
I am a restless sleeper; I sleep on my side/stomach and toss a lot so take all of this with a grain of salt.My doctor told me I need to wear a mask to retain moisture at night because my corneas were getting damaged, my right eye in particular because that's the side I sleep on, so I began researching around for "the best sleep mask."I had high hopes this Pro mask, made for side sleepers, would work for me. Typically I wake up and either the bottom of the cups is physically in my eyes (ouch) and the rest of the mask is up on my forehead, or it's completely come off.I have tried wearing my hair up, adding some additional "no slip" sock grip fabric paint to the parts of the mask that go around my head. . . nothing has worked.
