I have both the white and silver models. The character of light between the two is distinct enough to warrant owning both. As you might expect, the silver produces more focused and contrasty area of light. I like having the option to choose between white or silver to produce the kind of light needed to match a given subject or situation. Love how compact and portable the unit is when folded.

This is my most used modifier out of my arsenal of softboxes, umbrellas, and reflectors. Perfect for portraits with the included diffuser and the silver reflector fabric adds that extra pop to my beauty shots that I personally prefer. I don't recommend this silver version, if you are looking for softer shadows and faster set up time as the sliver beauty dish needs to be set to an exact placement otherwise you will not achieve the look you have in mind. For Advanced users I would say.

Per usual with profoto, it's over priced and not built that well, and a complete pain to set up. I really also wish it would have told you that you can't use the traditional speedring with it. So yea, on top of it being $180 some dollars , add another $100 for the over priced plastic speedring. You can get the same thing (but better) collapsible beauty dish in various sizes, from at least 5 other companies. All of which have at least some version of speedring included and you can buy one to fit your profoto. The other ones also go up like an umbrella almost. I hope that B&H can do the right thing and credit that back to me in some way. It should say right in the listing that you can't use the traditional speedring with it.
While this isn't an umbrella like set up, the rods go in easily and the assembly takes only 5 minutes. The light is harsher than an umbrella but can be softened with the diffusion panel. Great for small spaces!
Beats a hard BD for traveling and location shooting. I have both white and silver. The difference in light quality is enough to merit owning both. The silver produces a more focused and contrasty light. Some complain that a collapsible BD can't produce a perfectly round catch light in the eyes like a traditional hard BD. I say, So what, don't you have some pixels to peep at 100%?, none of my clients ever notice nor bother to look. The OCF Beauty Dish (Silver or White) is great!
Since this was less expensive than most Profoto gear I thought it might be a lighter weight material and cheaper build but if it is it is not noticeable. It is still great quality. Some reviews talk about flimsy bars but I don't see them being a problem. One easy way to assemble the dish is to install every other bar into the ring going around the ring until they are all in. It makes it much easier to put together and take apart that way.
I first purchased the Octagonal 2' soft box, the results were beautiful but I invested on this Beauty dish and obtained some Superb results ! The second diffuser panel really spreads light evenly providing a more soft light on skin. I got the silver because I love more contrasty and punchy images and obtained what i wanted with it. Is super easy to set up collapsible and light weight.
I continually buy Profoto lights and modifiers even though I believe they are too expensive and this Beauty Dish is no exception. They have great quality of construction even though not easy to assemble compared to other brands, but I'm hooked on the quality, and they produce beautiful light.
This is a great addition to other modifiers. Great quality of light in a travel friendly package.
