All Profoto softboxes feature a recessed front for attaching a grid attachment. The grid attachment reduces the beam angle to 50°. In other words, it creates a more focused light and minimizes excessive spill light, allowing you to direct the light more precisely. By limiting light spread, a grid attachment helps create more contrast in images, resulting in a more dramatic and moody look. Reducing unwanted spill light is especially useful when you want to avoid illuminating the background or surrounding areas.
