Playing Mirage is great if you miss that old school feeling of AC. Going back to its roots this game relies heavily on stealth which is what made the orginal games an instant classic and is now used to focus on the majority of your missions during gameplay. Some RPG elements are noticeable here and there but nothing too crazy like odyssey or valhalla. The baghdad map is generally smaller from previous games but still manageable to travel and explore. If you miss the old gameplay style of Assassins Creed than Mirage will be the one to enjoy! Easily one of the best entry’s in the series to date.

I beat the game on hard in less than a day. Not a very captivating story line, totally abandons the asbergro storyline. Not to mention the characters name is the same in orgins but is supposed to be the same bayek as the one who attacks you in valhalla. Confusing,un interesting, lazy writing, overall everything you would expect from a "B-title" crap developer company and nothing you would expect from Ubi-soft. This game was so bad if i could get a refund for it i would. It is TrAsH

Back to the old school!

I am about 7 hours i lnto AC Mirage and can definitely say I am loving the gameplay and especially the graphics! Not only does it look amazing, it also plays like the older AC games. Much more sneaking and stealh involved, less mashing bittons to beat up on enemies. In fact if you try to go up against 4+ enemies you are in for a battle that you might loose a few times and die. You really have to plan out your path when infiltrating certain locations. The upgrading of gear and outfits is not such a grind in this one and I like the simplicity of the tools you can upgrade to your arsenal. I think the outer areas of the cities could have some more points of interest though. I missed the parkour to get out of sight when fleeing enemies and this game has brought it back. With that I hope this helps you with your choice but I feel either way you in for a great time with AC Mirage!

Illusion of Progress

Assassins Creed Mirage is the AC game I've played since Origins, and over all its a very meh game. There are things that are absolutely spectacular: 9th century Baghdad is beautifully crafted and the infusion of history from the Middle East at the height of the Islamic Golden Age is a rare thing to behold in the West. The stealth is okay; while i prefer the return to a more stealth based gameplay, it seems as if their ideas when it comes to stealth havent changed much since the Ezio era, but it does produce multitudes of satisfaction when youre able to clear a level completely stealthy. Overall, its a very okay game. With a forgettable story and characters, its the type of game that youll play once and probably never come back to. I did enjoy my time going through the game, but with all the issues and the forgettableness of it, i dont see nyself ever returnning to the otherwise beautiful rendition of 9th century Baghdad.

Lack luster and much to be desired

I could see how if you had a top of the line pc this game would be at least visually stunning, but that would be it, and most people still have consols. The game is very bland and at the end of the day the marketing a trailers will bring you much more satisfaction then the game. The game play of AC use to be ground breaking but they haven’t changed much in over a decade and it shows heavily with this title. When I was younger and even a young adult, I would play AC like the world was ending because despite the gameplay being similar amongst titles, the story was always deeply compelling. This felt like a playtest demo for graphics and still left everything to be desired visually.

Not great
8 October 2023

I was hopefuly about this game. I am someone who remembers the early AC games fondly, especially the first one, and I did also think that the newer titles becoming more like RPGs was losing the spirit of the original series. So this game should have been perfect for me. Being a smaller, more focused experienced sounded great to me as well, I think gaming in general needs to stop putting quantity over quality with huge maps and 100 hr games that don't do anything interesting. This game did dial down the quantity, it's a smaller 25 hour game, but the quality did not increase. It's an extremely basic AC experience. I think the biggest sin is that absolutely none of the characters are interesting or likeable, which makes you not feel any motivation for the gameplay and story. To be fair, I would have to go back and play the original AC to find out if they actually did meet their goal of trying to return to that experience. Maybe they accomplished exactly what they set out to do, and it's just nostalgia that makes me think I had so much fun playing AC1. I remember caring much more about the story and characters though, and in the original game they set up the whole supernatural backstory for the series and it was very interesting. This game has NONE of the modern day storyline or any further answers about the supernatural backstory. Oh, and it has all the classic frustrations, like the parkour doing moves that you didn't intend to do and making you jump off a cliff instead of going to the next ledge you were aiming for. I thought with a smaller game they would really improve the graphics and the parkour but they didn't. And the combat seems much less exciting than before too. There are a few minor bugs too but just goofy AI and graphical stuff, nothing game-breaking. I try not to buy too many games right at release anymore, but I went ahead and got this one, and I was not impressed. Considering this was supposed to be an effort to return the series to what people wanted, I think it might officially be time to give up on AC.

Phoned-in reboot of AC 1

While it’s wholly unexplained, you’re back in the Animus and will “desynchronize” when killed or out of bounds. The educational references are completely forced and unnatural, particularly historical sites that, for the most part, aren’t actually landmarks but just random map locations revealing trivia: wow, they dyed fabric.Gameplay is a tad smoother than AC1 when it comes to accidentally Velcro-ing to things, but the parkour is still a generation behind the Mirror’s Edge franchise. You can’t ascend simple obstacles but can accomplish physically impossible back jumps with ease. Fortunately, there’s only one chase the floating paper sidequest. You can’t ascend simple obstacles but can accomplish physically impossible back jumps with ease. Fortunately, there’s only one chase the floating paper sidequest. Fighting is so slow and clumsy it almost feels turn-based. The one-way-only puzzles defy common sense. The wanted system is totally out of whack. Most of the city gates are inexplicably restricted areas (to you not to anyone else). The city walls are also restricted, but you can simply fast-travel everywhere. Killing civilians is against the rules, but enraging guards to kill them is fine (and stealing is actually required). Civilians across the plaza looking away will catch you and raise your wanted status, but alerted guards rarely notice you’ve killed their parter that was just standing next to them. Your last-known-position shadow defies reason and line of sight. The game is short, 5X shorter than Valhalla. It’s been called DLC sold as a full game. I think there’s a story buried somewhere, but it disappears after the prologue, and you can’t empathize with any of characters enough to care. Pretty sure it had something to do with (insert Giorgio A Tsoukalos) “aliens”. Anyway by the time you finish the second prologue and get into pseudo-sandbox mode, you’ve stopped caring and the unrelated conspiracy web of the main story quests takes over. Eventually, the first prologue continues as a sidequest granting supposedly epic loot (that you no longer need) which turns out pretty anticlimactic. If you want to kill a few hours with an Assassins’ Creed style game, this will do. It adds nothing to the franchise. Unless it’s on closeout for under ten bucks, I’d say rent don’t buy.

Ubisoft should have kept the old formula
1 July 2024

I got this game after playing a 2 hour trial. I thought it was good enough. I’ve been a die hard AC fan for years but after Origins I decided to stop buying at launch. Odyssey was really bad. Valhalla
atrocious. Unfortunately, Mirage was meant to be Valhalla DLC, so the core gameplay is too similar. Its very janky and just unsatisfying. They really need to switch back to R2 for running and square for attacks. R1 was an awful choice for attacks. The combat is so bad in this game. I like the setting, but thats about it. Also ran into the enemy type with a flamethrower
come on Ubisoft
its ancient Baghdad, not WW2.

Very good but lacking some essentials

Keeping this game from 5 stars is the lack of blood and gore or viscera, as well as the clunky parkour and a 30 hour story with a small map. Parkour can be very frustrating at times. I expect excellent fluidity from a game like this but it falls short on traversing Baghdad, especially when trying to climb down or jump down. I am however extremely disappointed in the lack of blood in this game, and seeing the exact same 10 or so assassination animations over and over again, with very little blood. Ubisoft needs to stop holding back and make their games for adult audiences. Even avatar frontier of pandora, a Ubisoft game, is rated T for teen yet they have you shooting guns and blowing things up. Dry combat is a huge miss and causes this game in particular to be undeserving of 5 stars. I get that it’s a stealth game, but that’s no excuse for having an almost E for Everyone type of blood effects. Get this game on sale for sure. Despite these cons, I very much enjoyed the game and Basim is my favourite character in Assassin’s Creed. Some good points: This game is one of the most immersive assassins creed games ever created, and I enjoyed using the codex to learn interesting facts and history about the Abassid Caliphate whenever I came upon historical locations. The Round City is a superb location for this series and they nailed it to a T, even though there is nothing left of this city today to compare it to, and they used maps and scholar work to design the city. I felt transported back in time more than I did in Odyssey and Valhalla. I felt more immersed in Ancient Baghdad than I was in Greece or England in the former games. A truly amazing work of art. Just add blood and gore and stop making these games for teenagers, all your original fans are grown up now and we expect better than the past. I wouldn’t rate any assassins creed game 5 stars tbh because of things like wokeism or in this case holding back on the blood so much. But most of their games get a 4 or 4.5 from me.
