Acquired Taste; eat with water

These are great if you don't give up after the first one AND drink water. I bought these because my store never stocks the Gatorade Chocolate Chip protein bars anymore. First bite was okay, then got nastier with each bite and left an aftertaste too. Finished the box over the course of a week, and with water, the rest of them were good. Zero aftertaste. If calories and protein are your concern, get these. If you need/want more calories, the Gatorade bars outclass these in size (a lot), genuinely taste like a candy bar, and are only about 20 cents more per bar. Could be why the Pure Protein ones are always on the shelf, while the Gatorade ones are always gone. Still good though.

Don’t have them shipped in summer

They taste good for protein bars, but I advise against having them shipped in summer heat. Ordered for shipment in June. Packaging didn’t include heat protection (cool packs) to keep the chocolate from melting, although that level of shipment care is typical from other sources during the summer. The bars arrived hot, soft, and partially melted. Even after cooling, they are deformed (flattened) and sticking in the folds of the wrappers, chocolate bits falling off everywhere—a big sticky mess!

Good with coffee

I buy them for my 92-year-old mother to drink with her morning coffee adding protein to her diet. Not the worst breakfast and she seems to like the taste, but protein bars with less protein do taste better ... a compromise to eat more protein and less sugar. The one ingredient I wish wasn't there was sugar alcohol -- which means don't eat more than one per day or you'll have soft you know what. I wonder if another sweetener could be substituted ... then I could honestly say the bars were deserving of all 5 stars. Still happy to have them for an affordable price.

OMG

OMG these are by far the best tasting protein bars on the market and I have tried every one of them. If you like Adkins great then you'll eat lots of calories with very little protein in comparison to Pure Protein. Grant you there are some drawbacks chemicals are added but what product is there on the market that doesn't have chemicals added...check it out. One bar which stands out in my mind is the Think bar. I call it the stink bar, nothing like having cardboard to chew on. Anyway I'm glad for the people, who don't like Chocolate Salted Carmel bar, because it means more for me.

Obsessed!!

If you are trying to get your daily protein requirements, literally nothing tops these!! I have tried a bunch of protein powders that were unbearable and too gross to drink that offered the same calorie to protein ratio as these bars. Even better, they taste awesome for having no sugar! They completely satiate my sweet tooth for the day as well as an added bonus, and they stave off hunger for a couple hours as well. I love all the flavors! This isn't to say they taste just like a candy bar, you can definitely tell it's a protein bar, but it's the best one I've found with no sugar and for such a great price as well!

I've purchased this flavor before and they were very good, this box? not so much. I purchased the Chocolate Deluxe for the first time and every other bite had this hideous taste. These have that hideous taste throughtout the entire bar. Best way I can describe the taste is a combination of rotten fish and ammonia, or kind of like what a dirty cat litter box smells like. I spit out the second bite and spent the next 20 minutes in a state of nausea. I must wonder if these are actually TOXIC. DON'T BUY THESE. I WILL be returning these to the store for a refund or another flavor, Target is pretty good about these kinds of things. These were my go-to bar for a while. They're sweet with a nice texture. They are slightly chewy but not excessively so. The reason I stopped eating them is becuase I'm vegetarian and didn't read the label well enough before making my purchase. I was shocked to find out (after eating them for a few months) that they contained gelatin which is not vegetarian friendly. You have to read labels to check for collagen and gelatin in bars. I've learned that now. For the time that I had consumed it, I very much enjoyed it though.
