Bought for my elderly nan, who is as mighty pleased as punch with it. She says had Alexander possessed this handy little gem, he might well have conquered Alabamy and Kentucky single handedly using the science of volumetrics. Doo dah. She does enjoy a flight of fancy, now and again does Nan. But she loves this thing.

One of these seemingly mundane items which worms its way into your affections, as you find more and more uses for it: a measuring beaker; something to catch the drips from the spout of your Nespresso machine; a drinking glass etc etc. I cannot be without one in the kitchen now - which is why I bought two of them.

... not least because they take me back to a working life in a laboratory!. I have over recent years bought four. One broke (my carelessness - they are otherwise pretty tough) and on one part of the scale on the side has rubbed off (not sure how that happened), plus I bought two recently as 'see me out' purchases. I also have a 500 ml beaker from the same stable. Just perfect for an aged pedant who cooks!

All that's expected from a pirex glass, resistent to temperature change, can use boiling water in it without resulting in and fracture of the glass. Perfect quality, the scale helps me measure wiith precision the ingredients. Top!
I found this item on the John Lewis website a year ago, and it took me a long time to hunt one down in a store. It's just the right size for those small measures of wet or dry goods and easy to handle and wash. I'm really pleased I waited to find a Pyrex jug rather than a cheap plastic one. I'm a happy bunny!!
