I have been using Pyrex Glass Bakeware since the 1980's. As the manufacturer's instructions says, cold contents placed in a hot oven causes the dish to break. This bakeware should only be used to cook room temperature ingredients. I typically use mine to bake enchiladas that I have made fresh (not frozen). The enchiladas are placed in the dish, sauce applied and the cheese sprinkled on top. Then, without chilling, it goes in the oven. If you must make a dish that requires chilling or preparation for cooking later, use a metal pan. Both Borosilicate and Soda Silicate dishes are subject to thermal breakage when the temperature differential is substantial. The heat of the oven and the cold of the contents causes stresses in the dish walls that it just can't withstand. ... MoreI have been using Pyrex Glass Bakeware since the 1980's. Finally a deep 9x13 inch Pyrex baking dish. This dish is 3 INCHES DEEP AND has a lid. I make a strawberry jello pretzel dessert for holidays and double the filling so it was tricky getting it into the frig without spilling. This is the perfect size and it has the advantage of a good fitting lid, no more plastic wrap. This would be a great lasagna pan too. You could also roast a good size chicken in it with vegetables.

I was happy to receive and use this new baking dish. It is beautiful heavy glass and I love having a lid for it. My first use was to bake a cake. It turned out well and I look forward to making lasagna and other casseroles which is the primary reason for wanting the depth. I purchased it to replace a Corning ware casserole, white with blue flowers, dish. I thought it would be the same size and shape however this new glass dish is much deeper and also narrower at the bottom than the top. I needed to bake the cake longer so the center would be cooked. I would prefer the sides be straight down and not slightly sloped. I'm sure for casseroles will be wonderful. I do love Pyrex quality. The lid is not strong enough to put something on top but fits well and does a good ... MoreI was happy to receive and use this new baking dish. I bought this over a year ago. My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner. This dish is the perfect workhorse. Perfect for fruit crisps that you think might bubble over in the oven. Perfect size for family dinner sides. The size is perfect for so many recipes but the depth is what makes this a winner. I also appreciate the lid. Leftovers don't dry out because the lid fits perfectly. No fiddling around with aluminum foil or plastic wrap that doesn't cling. Buy it now!The fact that it's Pyrex is just another plus. And, no worrying about collapsing aluminum foil pans.
When entertaining I always need large platters. These have covers and are stackable. Sooooo convenient to use in the refrigerator. I was concerned about how well they would stack, but I had heavy items and they were perfect. When storing, they fit into each other, but do not get stuck. Great purchase. I now have four.
I was looking for a pan for lasagna and this is it. I really like baking casseroles in glass dished but in a regular 9 x 13 many of them bubble over the top. This one is 3" deep - great depth for casseroles. The cover is more of a mint green than a sage green but the color doesn't matter to me. The middle section of the cover is raised and that is a good feature for casseroles as so many of them have cheese on top. Won't stick to this lid. These have to be "very" durable as there was no packaging at all. There was no cardboard band around the dish to hold the lid on. They were not in boxes or wrapped in paper. I purchased 4 of these so I could give 3 of them as Christmas gifts and keep one for myself. I purchased 4 of these so I could give 3 of them as Christmas gifts and keep one for myself. All 4 of these "heavy" glass dishes were put in a box that was at least twice as big as it needed to be, and shipped without any packing of any kind. They were not wrapped in paper or plastic wrap, there was no packing peanuts, "absolutely" no packing at all. The box was smashed - but - All 4 dishes were in perfect shape. No nicks, no cracks, PERFECT shape. I was and still am astonished. I have to give the credit to Pyrex for the quality of the product, certainly not Walmart for the care in packaging.
I love this Pyrex glass (lasagna size) casserole dish. The sides are tall, it holds a lot and I use it several times a week. It has a nice lid, which I utilize as well. I love the color, the glass and its weight. And it's not heavy, like some casserole dishes tend to be. I use this for desserts. lasagna, pot roasts, and much more.
This baking dish is a huge asset in my kitchen. I have casserole dishes but they are pretty standard and much more shallow than this one. The Pyrex deep baking dish is perfect for cooking meats that give off a lot of juices, like hams or large chickens (even a small turkey would do well in here). It's large enough that I can double some of my usual casserole or dressing recipes and they will still fit, so this is going to get a ton of holiday use. It's also the first baking dish I've owned that has a lid, which is great for covering cakes or dinner leftovers right in the dish, or storing baked goods like cookies or party mixes. It goes on very snugly, so I don't have to worry about refrigerator odors creeping in or baked goods going stale. Both the dish itself and ... MoreThis baking dish is a huge asset in my kitchen. Both the dish itself and the lid are of good quality, and I expect them to last many years. I've already used it for casseroles and most recently for transporting a large batch of potato salad at Easter. I got compliments on the pretty teal dish cover, and have recommended it to several family members. I'd definitely get it again!
After much searching and shopping at various sites, I chose to order this Pyrex deep 9" x 13" bakeware dish with sage lid. Am I ever happy that I did: I just LOVE this pan! I have been cooking and baking for a very long time and I decided to make lasagna for our holiday dinner, instead of the usual fare. I wanted a deeper lasagna pan, as I am always worried about boilovers with other pans I've used in the past. Not the case with this gem of a baking pan. I was able to fit all my extra wonderful lasagna ingredients in it nicely, with room to spare even. I didn't have to watch it cooking either. No worries about boilovers! My lasagna came out beautifully, and did not stick to the pan at all. I was able to fit all my extra wonderful lasagna ingredients in it nicely, with room to spare even. I didn't have to watch it cooking either. No worries about boilovers! My lasagna came out beautifully, and did not stick to the pan at all. For all the reviewers who said their baking dishes exploded on them, this will not happen to you if you use glass bakeware properly. I have been using glass bakeware for 50 years and not once have I ever had a glass baking dish explode on me. The first thing you must always do, is preheat your oven to your desired temperature. I always try to have my pan and whatever I'm baking at room temperature. Secondly, do not subject your baking pan to any shocks (abrupt temperature changes) such as using an ice cold utensil in a pan taken from the oven. Also, do not handle the pan roughly when it is hot, such as slamming it down on the counter, as heated glass is more sucestible to breakage. Be sure that you place your pan on a potholder, or towel, or something, when removing it from the oven. This is to avoid any sudden temperature changes to the pan. Finally, do not use too hot of an oven with glass baking dishes. The higher the oven temperature, the more likely it is that your pan will break. I recommend 400 degrees, as a maximum temperature, and certainly not to exceed 425 degrees. With proper usage, this lasagna pan will easily last for 20-30 years. It is a wonderful purchase at WalMart's bargain price. Great purchase for sure.
Firstly, everyone needs a 9 x 13 pan in their lives. Whether it's the Holiday's or just a casserole kind of night, these are a staple and a great starter piece if you are trying to build the necessities of a kitchen. This particular piece is absolutely lovely and performs great. The light green lid gives it a visual appeal that my other pieces don't. I washed the glassware on the bottom rack of my dishwasher and the lid flat on the top rack. There was minimal bending but once I attached the lid for a day, it was straightened out. I cook and bake a lot. I need more than one piece of cookware almost every time. This piece is especially great because of its extra depth. It helps prevent overflow and or bubbling over that standard depth pieces simply can't handle. This ... MoreFirstly, everyone needs a 9 x 13 pan in their lives. I love that it's dishwasher safe and requires very low maintenance. You can tell this piece will stand the test of time and I can't wait to break it out during my next dinner party.
