It's only 1 year old and was a replacement for the same product I bought 3 years ago which did the same thing!! Bunnings PLEASE take this rubbish product of the shelf, smoke alarms are too important to sell dodgy ones!

It only likes to go off at midnight or 3 am.It always seems to be a random one in the house and it goes off for a few beeps so by the time you’ve woken up, you can’t figure out which one it is that you need to smash with a hammer.

Do not buy this brand. We purchased 2 and within one year they were continually going off for no reason. I sent them back, the company cleaned them apparently tested them and returned them to me. Had them back up for 1 week and they're doing the same thing.

Do not buy this alarm, or other photoelectric smoke alarms from Quell! I purchased and installed a total of 8 smoke alarms across their range, and without fail everyone of them randomly sounds the alarm (mostly) in the middle of the night. I write this review as I am holding the 8th and final alarm that I have to remove from my ceiling, about 6 months into the purchase. All the effort installing them and nothing to show for it other than frustration and lost sleep.
I returned the first one because the "10 Year" battery reached the end after 4 months.Onto the second one, and it emits false alarms on a regular basis.Returning it today due to an 11:30pm alert. Will never buy Quell again.
Bought these alarms to replace some old ones the clips had broken on. We had just had a new born baby so thought i'd get something new and reliable. These lasted less than 3 weeks before going of at all hours. No smoke, no humidity, bugs or dust. I would reset and a few hours or days later they would go again. They are just junk! Unfortunatly I didn't keep the reciept so we had to go back and buy different ones. They should be discontinued.
Licensed Builder. Bought 5 of these for new installation. Numerous nuisance alarm events. New wiring circuit. Suspected ambient humidity trigger - rated to 93%, but many days exceed this. Very poor quality.
Bought 5 of these units 18 months ago.All have since activated/alarmed for no reason.Contacted Quell by email.Their reply… néed to vacuum each month.Done this..Makes no difference..All still go off for no reason.Rubbish dangerous product that should be pulled from sale.Shame on Quell.Disgraceful.DONT BUY THIS ALARM.
Rubbish. Absolute rubbish. The first one I purchased started waking the household up at 2, 3, or 4 am for no reason after 9 months.Replaced under warranty by Bunnings.The second did exactly the same.Do not buy these. Do not waste your money.No receipt, no return on the second item.
Didn't make it 8 months without going off randomly at 2AM. Hush does not work. Interestingly, if the alarm is going and you take it off the ceiling the alarm stops - defeats the purpose of a battery back up (I would expect that you should have to remove the battery to stop the alarm when there is no power and the hush button is ineffective). And because they are interconnected they all had to be removed (at 2AM), and they are not easy to get off their brackets.I have numerous other smoke alarms (plain old battery types), some as old as ten years and they have only activated when they should have - they are back on my ceiling.... and they didn't need to be professionally installed!
