Had a fire in the microwave oven and smoke had filled the house but the alarm didn't make a sound. Luckily we smelt the smoke and dealt with the fire. About 5 minutes after we put the fire out, the alarm finally sounded. At other times it would sound for no apparent reason.Bought Quell because we thought it was a high quality product. Guess not.

I purchased the premium Quell CO and Fire alarm thinking I wouldn't have to worry about replacing the product for over a decade. At around a year from installation (2 weeks ago), the alarm went off (with no fire, and no gas burning, so no CO). The beep pattern (repeated) was NOT one of the official modes listed on their product, AND the Hush button on the product would not silence the alarm. We had no choice but to TURN OFF the alarm (button on the back), which permanently disables the device. When contacted regarding the problem and seeking a replacment for the defective device Quell ignored my request, then obfiscated (asked me to problem solve a disabled product). Regular false alarms. 1st time we evacuated the house, 2nd time checked with a sensor and found nothing. 3rd and 4th time we ignored it. Now deactivated. What happens if one of those false alarms is actually a real situation? Surely selling products that require compliance but that give false positives the whole time should be illegal? AVOID.

Purchased this not cheap detector 18 months ago. On today’s test it was completely dead. No warning alarm of battery issue, no sound upon testing. Do not purchase.
While I do agree it going off for ‘no reason’ might be annoying, but, if device is constantly alerting at times your are asleep, you possibly do have a leak and it’s probably doing it’s job! While you’re asleep, you will have no air flow near alarm, hence levels build up and alarm sounds! Don’t take for an annoying alarm, make sure it’s not alarming for a real issue!
Smoke rises and carbon monoxide builds up at floor level. A smoke alarm and a carbon monoxide alarm should logically be placed nowhere near each other. To say that you can combine them in one unit seems reckless and dangerous.
Bought and Installed late October 2021, died 2 days ago. At least it gave off a warning, which is better than reported by others. We'll investigate further on the next steps. Was hoping that the price of this unit would reflect in its longevity.
Easy fix central screw is a terrible design. False alarms at random times (got us up at 4am yesterday in a panic, not a whiff of smoke anywhere).
2 years ago I purchased a Quell 10 year sealed battery combined photoelectric and CO alarm with Date of Manufacture Aug 2018. I have just discovered the alarm is dead and it did not issue any flat battery warning. Dangerous!
I bought 2 of these alarms about a month ago. I found they were easy to install. They look good for an alarm and have worked well. I have installed one in my kitchen, on the opposite wall to the gas stove and it has not been set off by cooking. My old alarm which was also positioned in this spot went off every time I cooked so the battery had to be removed. Excellent product.
