I started purchasing this product during the pandemic. I found it to be far superior to the 'squeezable' brand I had used for years. I almost didn't see it in the store because they have changed the packaging to what they term 'sustainable.' The packaging has large print and a very busy and distracting design. Read the details. That's not all that's been changed.Instead of 328 2-ply sheets the 'ultra soft and strong' product contained, now, each roll now only has 295 2-ply sheets, and instead of 207.7 square feet, now it's only 186.6 square feet. Did the price go down---umm, no? You don't even have to be a math genius to see that their 'sustainable' packages contain less product for the same, if not more, money. Your previous plastic packaging could easily be opened closest to the toilet roll(s) being extracted. It allowed the remaining rolls to stay well protected (until needed) by folding over the excess plastic covering.The NEW paper packaging is not easily opened, resulting in the (brittle) paper easily tearing and all the rolls falling out. I think it couldhave been far more practical with the new paper cover, if there were 'guide dots/lines' indicating the best way to not only efficiently open the packaging, but to also 'roll down' the packaging like a paper bag. This would allow for a more hygienic storage. Instead, your glue used in sealing the toilet paper bags does not make them easy to open. The rolls all end up falling on the floor.

We have been using the Ultra Plush Quilted Northern for years but over the last several months and several packages it has gone from plush to scratchy. And quilted is very debatable. It has gotten so bad that it is causing irritation in the affected area for all three women in my household. When we first noticed the change I thought I had picked up the "strong" version by mistake. Not so. But I DID almost pick up Cottonelle since the new package design looks almost exactly like Cottonelle. Overall, this product is not as stated on the package. It is NO LONGER PLUSH nor is it QUILTED. Unless it returns to it's previous softness, us chaffed people will be searching out a better product.
The last package or two of quilted northern ultra plush (12 roll) has been goofy. Most of the rolls are wound roughly, they aren't smooth like we've had before. Then when it gets down to where we think there is about a quarter inch of tissue on the roll if you pull some the whole mass that's left comes off in your hand. What's left is jagged every which way. It's so strange. It seems like there's not as much tissue on each roll, either. They don't last long enough. This used to be the only brand my husband wanted to buy, but now I'm not so sure it's the good deal we used to think it was.Thank you for letting me vent, Melody Spradling
I used to use Quilted Northern and loved it. It was strong and soft. When prices soared I used a less expensive toilet paper. A couple of weeks ago I decided to splurge and get Quilted Northern and chose the Ultra Plush. What a disappointment it has been! If this is their most luxurious toilet paper I can't imagine how awful their other types must be! This Ultra Plush is not strong and, quite frankly, not as soft as one of their competitors. I am seriously considering donating the remaining rolls, which is just about all of them, and purchasing another brand. I will not spend the extra few dollars on Quilted Northern again.
Quilted Northern is one of my favorite TPs and this one did not disappoint. Just as another reviewer mentioned, I am not a fan of mega rolls either but that is now the trend and I don't think the double rolls will make a comeback. So, even though mega rolls don't fit my built-in TP holder well, I have made peace with these mega rolls.The best thing about QN Ultra Soft & Strong is exactly that - they are definitely soft and strong. No tearing and soft to touch. I am pleased with my purchase and will buy them again.p.s. I am surprised to read other reviewers (directly from QN's website) stating about the change to paper wrappers. The ones sold at Office Depot were still wrapped in plastic.
We have been buying Northern toilet paper for over 50 years, but we are ready to stop and buy a competitors. Northern started making the width of your toilet paper narrower and narrower years ago. The width of Northern toilet paper is so narrow now that as a female it is no longer usable. Wet fingers is not only not fun but it is not acceptable and definitely not hygienic. If you must raise the price to go back to a reasonable width. Please do so. It is easy for us to compare how much Northern has decreased the width of your toilet paper for we have unused rolls in our backpacks from 2016 and 2018 trips. Please increase the width. If you can not we are buying elsewhere.

I purchased what I THOUGHT WOULD BE “ULTRA SOFT AND STRONG.”(because that’s what the package said) But it wasn’t “ultra soft at all.” It was harder and far less magically soft than what I had previously purchased as “ultra plush”.so, what can I say? This is a great company and it deserves a more honest packaging depsrtment. My suggestion is a purple trim on the shelf itself so people will actually get what they’re looking for. And don’t call the harder tissues “ULTRA SOFT!” Call them medium or something like that. When this company gets its labelling right, it’s the BEST!! Right now, though, ... Not to sound like a granola new-agey millennial, but chlorine is one of the single most toxic chemicals you can put on or in your body. Do your research, and you'll likely come to shudder at the thought of intentionally rubbing this stuff all over your most sacred and sensitive parts.That being said, if you simply can't make the switch, this stuff is about as good as "toxic toilet tissue" can get. It is what the name states--it's very soft, but doesn't rip and shred too easily, and leaves very little to no lint behind. It's very good at standing up to a gentle but efficient wipe job.If you love this stuff but ARE enticed to find a chlorine-free equivalent, I recommend trying out Seventh Generation 2-Ply 100% Recycled Standard Toilet Paper.
