Qwirkle Travel Game
While Qwirkle Travel by Mindware is as simple as matching colours and shapes, it is a game that also requires tactics and strategy. The game consists of 108 wooden blocks with six different shapes in six colours. Using the blocks, players attempt to score the most points by building lines that share a common attribute either colour or shape. Qwirkle is a quick game to learn, but you'll soon discover that you'll need to think strategically in order to score the most points. Its perfect for travel, with approximately 2cm, solid wood tiles in a zippered travel bag. 2 to 4 players. Age 6 years - adult.

Fun game and educational for youngsters. Very disappointed in poor tile quality. Just beyond the "100% Happiness Guarantee", colors were very faded, some times were cracking and chipped. Our game was played by adults and not abused in any way. Also, the included bag was about half the size you'll need to mix your tiles. You can save some money by buying Rummikub, a very similar game with much better quality tiles.

Qwirkle is a fun game that is easy to learn and play. You can match color or shape, but all the colors or shapes in that run must be different. It is easy to play, but offers lots of challenging strategy to work out. "A minute to learn, a lifetime to master" was originally written about Mastermind, and it applies to Qwirkle as well. The tiles are painted lightweight wood and very easy to handle (about 30mm square and 10mm thick.) The colors and shapes are tons easier to see than normal playing cards.

My family of 6 absolutely love this game. The only issue I have is that my 3 color blind sons have a really hard time telling the difference between the different colors on the blocks. Especially the purple/blue ones. I ended up using a Sharpie marker and writing the letter of each color on the top of the block so that they could tell the difference. It would be really nice for others who are colorblind if there were a color friendly version of this game.

This set of four fixtures could easily be on display at the Louvre or Guggenheim, yet they also blend seamlessly into any modern home decor. Qwirkle tiles are gently cradled at the optimum ~15° viewing angle (measured from the vertical), to ensure no mistaking the red starburst for the orange flower. The fine wood material is milled smooth and finished in glossy black paint, ensuring years of trouble-free service from even the most demanding of Qwirkle masters. Bravo, Mindware!
This game was purchased from Walmart & fulfilled by Mindware. I thought that the tiles were well made & brightly colored & looked as illustrated on the front of the box. The directions & illustrations were well written & plentiful; however, I was still confused by scoring which may be on me. This is a good family game which takes awhile to play. I personally thought that this was just an okay game, but it is good for family bonding & is good for a variety of ages.
Like many people, I was initially hesitant about this game because I have one of the many types of colour blindness. When it first arrived I wasn't even able to separate the colours, particularly the blue and purple. However, I was able to purchase some 5.5mm white sticky letters from Ebay very cheaply and put them in the bottom right corner of every tile (just like the number on a scrabble tile). This made a world of difference and allows me to match by letter or shape instead of colour. This is such a simple yet incredibly fun game. This is such a fantastic family game. Satisfying play for adults and children from about 6+. Travel size is ample, though something half way between the travel and original piece size would be perfect. Only slight problem is seeing the difference between the orange and red colours in some low lights but not enough to detract from the game.
The game is a lot of fun. It’s wood tiles, instructions, and a cloth bag. I did not buy the bonus pack. The packaging is ridiculous. The tiles and bag come in a sturdy cardboard box. There is plastic covering the tiles. There is plastic covering the outside of the very sturdy cardboard box. Nothing inside the box is breakable. The company is called Mindware, I truly believe someone in the company has a better idea for packaging a product that simply doesn’t need all that plastic. Please listen.
This game is so much fun to play with kids and adults. I have been playing this game with my kids since my son was in elementary school... He's now in college and took his Qwirkle with him to school where it's their favorite game to play. I would consider it educational since my son's girlfriend uses the game to tutor other students in Math. I missed the game so much that I bought another one to play with my younger son.
We originally bought the full-size Qwerkle game, enjoyed playing it with our grandchildren at our off-the-grid cabin, and decided to leave it there. I wanted a set to keep at home and decided to try the travel version. By taking up less table space it's almost easier to see possible moves! I like that the pieces are also made of wood, not plastic. We've only played a few times, so I don't know how they will hold up. PS Young children can have fun just sorting or making patterns with the tiles.
