Opening its doors in February 1965, the Royal Australian Mint has produced more than fifteen billion circulating coins. The demand for proof and uncirculated versions of coins resulted in the Mint's expansion into producing high quality collectors coins, with their emphasis on quality systems and innovative technology continuing to this day. In 2019, the Royal Australian Mint welcomes a new effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to feature on Australia's coins. Featuring a new design by Jody Clark, this 2019 $1 Uncirculated Coin commemorates the sixth effigy since the Queen's coronation in 1953 and features the new design on the front, with the more familiar 1998 effigy by Ian Rank-Broadley on the reverse.
