We bought 4 of these systems to cover our whole lawn. Planning was a little tricky, but the installation was easy enough. We rented a trencher which made our lives a lot easier!

This is a great kit that provides pretty good coverage. The house are completely slip on with no fasteners, but it seems to work well without leaks. One kit has a sprinkler that stops rotating, so I need to replace that.Installing by hand is slow and a pain. Rent a trencher! Otherwise very happy with the results

Great concept for compact sprinkler. Make sure you have a small enough shovel to get the hole sculpted just right. You also may want to pick up some pea gravel to give the unit some bedding when you set it. Make sure it’s buried low enough that it can’t get hit with a lawnmower. Quick disconnect feature is key for accessibility. The only downside I see is that it is spring loaded, so if any adjustments need to be made it may be difficult because the unit wants to retract.

I used rain bird products to irrigate the majority of my garden beds, so I was looking forward to trying out this lawn watering system. There are two main components to the device: the sprinkler side and the water supply side, connected by tubing. You bury the entire device. When you're ready to water, remove the cap from the water supply side, attach your hose using the included quick-connect adapter, and turn on the water. Water travels from the supply side to the sprinkler side, causing the sprinkler head to pop up and water. When you detach the hose, the sprinkler retracts "underground". Main benefit is you don't have to remove the device when mowing the lawn, which means you don't have to struggle to find the "right" positioning again after mowing. The concept is neat, but the execution left me disappointed. After much trial and error and process of elimination, I figured out the quick-connect device is the weakest link here. Unfortunately, it only works about 25% of the time for me for no discernible reason. When it works, it does a great job, easily reaches the corners of the 50'x25' area intended to water, and saves me the adjustment hassle. But the inconsistency kills this for me, which is too bad, because the concept is neat and I generally prefer quick-connect to traditional screwing. Maybe I just got a bad apple? I'll try to MacGuyver a solution
I love the idea of having a hidden sprinkler that is fixed underground and doesn’t have to be moved every time you want to water the grass. This sprinkler does require a little bit of digging to install. You need to dig a hole about the width of a shovel, 9 inches deep, and 14 inches long. All that is fine. No problem. The issue I have with this sprinkler is that trial and error is the worst. Before I dug my hole I wanted to get an idea how the filter would spray the water. I had to keep making trips back and forth to the hose bib getting soaked each time I tried to adjust the spray using the pins on the sprinkler nozzle. It would be nice if I had another pair of hands, but I didn’t. In my particular situation this sprinkler is either too strong so that I’m watering half my street and the side of my house, or I’m only catching a small portion of what I need to water so I need to supplement later by hand. The sprinkler is strong, and the area it covers is a bit more than 42 feet, but it is hard to dial in and a real slippery situation any way you slice it.
I found that the 1/2" tubing is a little small. 3/4" would be better. .75 are small and had to buy the Rain Bird nozzle kit, used 3gpms. The rotor sprinklers are very easy to set. I tried with the 1/2" tubing then tried using a garden hose, big difference. All in all it is a nice kit. It would be great if you could buy the garden hose quick disconnect separately. I have purchased 3 kits just for the garden hose quick disconnect. I use a 500 gallon water tank and supply the water to the zones via lawn sprinkler pump that has 70psi discharge pressure 5 gallons in 15 seconds. I need to installed 4 more zones. I have told several friends how easy to install and use. Thanks
Most people who decide that they want an in-ground sprinkler system have properties that require the use of multiple heads and the attendant underground plumbing and wiring that go with those. However today's homeowner often has a "patio sized" lot of much smaller dimension. This product appears to be tailor made for such properties. Our unit was installed at my sons home and should easily handle all the watering needs for his front yard. Thanks to the units adjustability and by placing it in a corner, he is now able to cover over 90% of the grassed area with the one unit. The install took all of 15 minutes including the adjustment of the impact head. There are two things that the installer needs to be aware of. 1. 1. The more pressure on the line the faster the impact weight swings and the more slowly the head moves. (This results in much more water being disbursed per cycle.) By lowering the pressure on the hose the impact weight swings more slowly and the head moves through it arch much more rapidly, resulting in less water per cycle. This is easily adjusted to suit your needs at the faucet. 2. The quick connect device which attaches to the supply hose must be very firmly plugged in to the sprinkler unit in order for it to allow water to pass. Our unit would apparently connect snugly, but would not allow water to flow. By connecting and disconnecting a couple of times we were able to get it on properly and it worked fine. When installed and the hose removed the unit is hardly noticeable just below the grass line. I have attached a couple of photos of the install.
The one thing everyone hates about having a yard without an inground sprinkler system is that you have to drag the sprinkler and hose around the yard. With this sprinkler, you won’t have to drag a sprinkler around the yard anymore because you can’t move it. It is designed to be dug down into the yard but you still have to hook it up with a garden hose. You have to dig a hole about 10 inches deep in your yard if you want it to sit flush at ground level. It only has a spray pattern of circular or half circular so unless you live in a house with a circular backyard, you’ll still have to have another oscillating sprinkler to water the corners of your yard and you will still have to move another sprinkler and hose anyways.
Works great for a small yard. It was simple to design the pattern, set up and install underground. Worked perfectly the first time! I am very pleased with the system. I also added a programmable timer, which also works great!
I absolutely love this system we installed 4 of them to create custom zones. Ran garden hoses hooked up to a garden hose timer and set and "Forget about it!" The only down fall was neighbors wanted me to help them with installing one for them.... But good systems have had it installed since April with zero issues. The click and go system was a smart design and affordable solution. Thank You Rain Bird!
