Rain Harvesting Maelstrom Rainwater Filter 100mm

Looks good, great design

Haven't installed unit yet but construction and ease of upgrading/modifying to fit my application is great. Filter epitomizes the KISS theory, keep it simple stupid.

Better than a inline filter.

This a excellent product that is priced reasonably to buy against other filters.

Rainwater Filter

I am amazed at the amount of gunk removed by this filter considering that all my downpipes have stainless steel mesh filters. Filter easy to access and clean which I do after each rain event. Has overflow built in to self clean the filter during very heavy rain. Loses 1 star for the expensive price but I would recommend it and plan to buy another for my second tank.

Very good. Everyone with a rainwater tank needs it

I have one of these and they are great. Easiest way to have clean drinking water is to make sure you don't get rubbish (leaves, debris, rats!) on your tank. This does it well. I need a replacement filter bag which are a bit hard to find in nz though.

Works well, clogs constantly

Seems to be the best filter on the market for the purpose - but this doesn't mean it's perfect. It isn't "self cleaning" either - so don't buy thinking this is a set and forget, zero maintenance filter. The fine particulate bag filter inside it clogs all the time. Great that this gunk isn;t getting into the tank - but this forces most or all of the water out of the overflow - so you really need to be checking and cleaning it after every rain event. A clean takes around 5-10 mins to disassemble the filter, turn the bag inside out, clean it, and put it all back together.Another design flaw seems to be the fact that with the lid on, and the bag full, the bag covers the tank inlet. This causes the casing to pressurise, which forces more water out of the overflow. If ... MoreSeems to be the best filter on the market for the purpose - but this doesn't mean it's perfect. This causes the casing to pressurise, which forces more water out of the overflow. If you remove the lid, all of a sudden the overflow discharge slows significantly which demonstrates the issue. This is not a problem if the file particulate bag filter is clean, but gets worse as the system gets full of gunk.
