The kit also includes a polish to help remove scratches or imperfections found on headlights. This headlight restoration Kit was recommended to me by one of the staff at the counter. I am really happy it did the job! I followed the instructions on the kit. It actually removed almost all yellowish oxidization layer on the headlights of my Holden Astra 2004 model hatch back. I recommend this to anyone who needs low cost solution for car headlight cleaning

I bought this kit after researching all of them and reading other reviews. I decided to go with this Rain-X kit because it has sanding pads, compound AND sealant. Some of the others don't have sealant and without it the lights will degrade quickly.Instructions were easy, and it wasn't physically hard. I took my time going through all 3 steps with the polishing (sanding pads) and was very liberal with the lubricant. My iMax's lights were extremely bad on top (worse than what shows in the photo) so I spent a bit of extra time on them.I also spend extra time with the compound making sure to work it all in nicely.I'm extremely happy with the results, they look close to perfect! I didn't have any lubricant left but I used some warm water with a bit of dishwashing liquid to lubricate while I used the polishing pads.I got another whole set of headlights out of the pads, compound and sealant so it was well worth the money. Probably enough left to do yet another set!About a week later I cleaned down both sets of lights and applied another coat of sealant to each. It's been about a month and they still look great.I can't recommend this product enough! If you're willing to take a little bit of time it's well worth the effort.

I was on the verge of giving up after more than 3hr of sanding the first headlight with no clear result of sanding back enough of the factory top coat. After calling a qualified friend, it turns out that the sandpaper included simply was not abrasive enough to do the job.A trip back to supercheap and $6 later, I had 800, 1500 and 2000 grit wet sandpaper. The sanding was massively more effective. It took less than 30 mintues to get results with 800 grit sandpaper. In the end the result was impressive, and a huge imrpovement on the previous condition.I would say that the sandpaper and the lubricant sprary are not necessary in this process, and instead invest a few dollars on wet sandpaper and trusty H20 to get the job done. The sealant brought a further shine, but ... Make sure you eat lots of spinach the week before you plan to do this, i used this on my wifes 2006 Holden Astra, The front headlights didnt look to be too far yellowed compared to some ive seen, but i found the trick is to make sure all of that yellow layer is sanded off with the roughest sanding pads first, Note to manufacturer: Kit needs to have more Lubricant & the Sanding pads need to be at least double in size & quantity, Take the time to mask off the edge of your lights to the panels & bumper so they dont get marked from off shooting with the sanding pads. You will know once you have all the yellowing off as the sanding pads will stop making a rough wooshing noise, You are literally sanding off that layer from the head lights, I was skeptical and spent a good ... You will know once you have all the yellowing off as the sanding pads will stop making a rough wooshing noise, You are literally sanding off that layer from the head lights, I was skeptical and spent a good three hours sanding in total and still couldnt quite get it all off on the passenger headlight, The headlight restorer part actually looks like its a cut n polish cream, as that was what it looked like texture wise and to what it was doing, but when dried still didnt convince me, The lights didnt look good, Then once i applied the sealant, It all came good / back to life! If you look closely, you can still see evidence of where there is yellowing left behind from not fully sanding off, But you need to get very up close to notice, Lets see how long it lasts? The kit was fairly cheap at $20 when on special so i would do it again at every major service / 2 years maybe if it lasts that long and get some extra sandpaper matching the pads grit, i reckon that will do it, Then once you have all the yellowing off it will be easy to maintain.
The product works very well, virtually cleaning everything off the lens. I say virtually because there were some almost indistinguishable marks on the headlights which are hardly visible at any distance. That being said, my car is 25 years old and subject to the hot sun. I was very pleased with the product. It does not use a power tool. You will need to exert some manual labor instead. It makes the job harder physically, but safer on the car body around the headlight (even though you should tape off painted areas with other products that require a power tool). My headlights are now haze-free and clear I have much of the product leftover and plan to reapply next year as a second application. I see no reason to throw it out when I can make a second application again ... MoreThe product works very well, virtually cleaning everything off the lens. Removed all discolouration and haze. Headlights look like new again. For all the negative reviewers I’d suggest they just didn’t follow instructions and put in the necessary elbow grease. If your prepared to spend approximately 45 mins per headlight they’ll look great 👍🏻
I followed the application directions to the letter for this Rain-X product; but results were very poor and the headlights began to fade after a very short time. Save your money and buy "Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish!" It's AWESOME and takes less than 2 minutes each headlight, with "like new headlights" results...for less than $10 out the door. It's about a 3 month fix, before fading begins; but no work to get awesome, like new results!. I'm surprised the "Rain-X Headlight Restoration Kit is so poor...Rain-X rain guard for windshields is good though... ;)
I have used this before with older model headlights and it improved a little but noticed scratches on the headlights and thought maybe it was already there before I started. Fast forward, different car. Applied Rain X as per instructions. Ok so far but then I have notice that both headlights has surface scratches now. I came to conclusion that this product actually scratches your headlights.
First of all let me say I have always used Rain-X products in the past and will continue to do so but this one particular product damaged my car. I did two applications and my headlights came out looking just scratched up. I filled out a claim form with Global Brands which INSIST on a damage amount. To figure the amount I was forced to call the nearest Nissan dealer, get the price of two headlight covers and the cost of labor to install those covers. After a month I received a letter from the attorneys of Global Brands saying they were not at fault for my "accident." I called the company to ask what was going on because I didn't have an accident. It was explained that my case was still open (?) and they were questioning the amount of damages I had asked for and how ... It's been 2.5 months and I can't get anyone from Global Brands to return my phone call. In the meantime, I have two choices, either pay for it myself or drive my car around looking bad. Thanks Global Brands!
15 minutes per headlamp, and back to new! Very easy to use, works like a dream. Save unnecessary garage bills. Even if it only lasts 6 months, there's plenty of product left to do it again, and again, so well worth it. Had them done by a garage before but only lasted a year before they became dull and yellow again!
