The coat is great and exactly what I needed: a waterproof, durable, stylish, everyday raincoat. First I had ordered a large, not realising that this was a unisex large. The M fit much better (L was really really big for a woman) and still has ample size for thick jumpers underneath (I’m a tall, average build woman). The poppers make it easy to cycle in. I like how light the fabric feels. Not at all heavy or clunky.

I has my last Rains coat for almost 10 years. Wore it all the time until it fell apart. I just bought a new one to replace my old one and was pleasantly surprised that all the things I loved in my old coat were still there, all the things that needed improvement were improved- the newer model has a more mesh-like durable lining and higher quality snap buttons. The colours are vibrant and true to the website images. For comparison, I had a North Face jacket before that and it fell apart in only a couple of years!

Love the style details like the slight length in the back and the upper shoulder over layer thing in the back. Interesting without being loud or fussy. I love the lightweight and nicely sized sleeves to fit a lot of things underneath. Very packable on trips. Very functional if you need to work or be able to move your limbs and body while wearing this.

The main thing is it’s so lightweight and I’m always so hot. Aesthetically its lovely with the sleeve rolled back to create a lighter cuff and with viscose scarves to match my outfits and I leave it open. I bought Dune and managed to get the powder white one too. Had lots of compliments straight away.I like the straight design, it’s slimming. Its also waterproof.I’ve been looking for 2 years and knew this was the one straight away.
When it first arrive it smelt quite strongly of fish, which was a shock and not pleasant. I found a few other reviews where Rains recommended to air it outside for a couple of days and that seemed to do the trick. I would have preferred not to do this! The jacket looks great but is one of those products that is marketed as “unisex” but actually made to fit men. I’m an average height female (5’5”), and the shoulders are very wide, almost looks as if I’m wearing shoulder pads! The hood is also far too large. I think Rains could do with creating a women’s product line.
I love the style and fit. It is very light unlike other rain jackets I've tried so I don't feel suffocated and I don't overheat in warmer weather. However, despite not having the jacket for very long, one of the buttons has already fallen off. I'm kind of shocked this happened considering the price and the ostensibly high quality of the jacket otherwise. I'm disappointed to say the least. I expected more from this brand.
I like that the coat is waterproof. That's it. The sizing is bizarre. I am 5'6" and weigh 110 lbs and my first try was the small which I returned because it was cut quite slim around the hips though at least that one did not smell. The medium was not much of an improvement though I could have worn it even with sleeves that completely covered my hands even when snapped, they just hung but there was a pervasive ick odor about the garment. I tried letting it air out but no go.
Hood is too big to be useable- it completely covers eyes and face and can not be adjusted. Jacket arms are very long. Jacket is nice length and flattering fit. Quality control is lacking- strings for hood are two different lengths and cannot be adjusted. I am ordering a second jacket- if the strings are equal in length and the hood can be altered, I will keep it.
I love the modern, sleek design of the jacket, and the sky blue color adds a refreshing touch to my wardrobe. The material is lightweight yet provides adequate warmth and protection against the wind and rain. The fit is great, offering enough room for layering without looking bulky. The quality of the fabric and craftsmanship is impressive, making it a versatile addition to my collection.
I had been using a hip-length rain jacket from an outdoor brand and wanted to upgrade to something longer. That’s when I found the Rains Long Jacket. I love the way it fits and the way the fabric drapes. The fabric feels high-quality and definitely keeps you dry. My only qualm is that the sleeves are too long, but other than that it’s a great jacket. Definitely recommend.
