Archival ink from Ranger is an oil-based dye ink for creating crisp stamp impressions on a variety of surfaces. Archival ink works well on both matte and glossy paper, or on canvas and wood. Once dry, the ink is permanent. It may take a little longer for the ink to dry on smooth surfaces. It is possible to speed up this process using a heat tool. The advantage of this permanent ink is that it does not bleed when it comes into contact with water. This makes Archival ink highly suitable for working with stamping inks, paints and water-based markers such as Distress Ink and water colours. It can also be used to effortlessly stamp a visible impression over a background created with alcohol ink. This is why Archival is often used as a basic stamping ink. Easily remove ink residue from stamps with the Ranger Clean It All Purpose Stamp Cleaner or Ranger Archival Ink Cleaner.

I bought the black one and it was completely unusable. The pad had some frayed edges too, not a clean cut. I will never buy from this brand again.

These are nice and smooth inkpads and even stay inky after a year in storage. I like that they also have handy refills when you've used them up. The ink makes nice marks on smooth and textured paper. They are my go-to inkpads.

Deep, dark black that dries quickly and layers well on multiple surfaces. Its versatility makes it a great option for exploration and in the classroom. Not the cheapest option, but it does makes most other ink pads seem like a waste of money.

Great consistent colors.
24 January 2021

I started using these stamp pads in a college art course and bought some for myself to use at home. They are beautiful. Some of my classmates would even leave the stamp pads out and open ( :( ) and they would not dry out immediately. Great value.

Great ink, nice color options.
17 May 2018

After reading reviews and viewing stamping videos, I decided to try this ink. It's great to work with and the colors are beautiful. The jet black is a must for any stamper or card maker. I have four colors now and can't wait to get more.

Great product

I have been using this type of stamp pads over and over at Blick Art Stores in San Francisco, and very happy with the quality of them. They make the images clear and sharp each time I stamp. Will buy those again. Thank you.

Love that it is color fast
4 December 2015

I'm using the Ranger Archival Inks on fabrics and papers of multiple weights and varieties; on greeting cards, wall hangings, apparel, and utility items. I incorporate the permanent Archival Ink with acrylic paints; and Ranger Distress products. Love the look and end result! Color choices are great too. I use stamps, stencils, brushes and sponges in the applications and have yet to be disappointed.

Love the color range!
1 March 2019

I use the Ranger Archrival Inks for multiple applications. I like the fact that before they dry I can move and smudge the color around a bit; yet once dry it is fast and permanent. The color selection has expanded over the years, which makes life easier when looking for just the right hue for a specific application. Just purchased the sky blue pad; really like the soft subtle shade.

My go-to ink pads
3 December 2022

Love Ranger ink pads. Long lasting, permanent and archival, the many colors allow me to stamp my woodblocks and collages with just the right hue. I often use them to "sign" my prints, as in this woodblock, lower right corner.

Waterproof indeed
30 June 2016

We used these in a craft activity- we'd stamp the participant's choice of stamp on Strathmore 400 watercolor paper, let it dry (5, 10 minutes tops), and then use a variety of waterbased media over the top- Gelatos, Derwent Inktense, and plain old watercolors. Not even the heaviest washes moved it once dry. One lady even peeled part of her paper back and the design was still solid under the surface layer. I noticed no feathering on the Strathmore; it printed sharp and clear.I recommend this product for any paper application that needs to stay put once applied. Once this pad runs dry, I'll definitely be buying the reinker. (And this review was prompted by the "Win a $1000" email, though said email had no influence on the content. This product really is this good.)
