My experience with many purchases from Vilros are always prompt in shipping and delivery. Sometimes they are the only well stocked location in the U.S. I have the earlier models running 5 WiFi web cameras, a web controlled boom box that also transmits on it's own FM stereo channel and a flirc WiFi accessible IR remote control for the entertainment center. This new Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W may begin to replace my older standard Raspberry Pi's for faster motion detection and even one running a completely self contained home automation system for only $16! I'm sure I will find many other uses that the older Zero wasn't fast enough. Maybe a remote controlled RTL-SDR radio receiver or a VPN server. Raspberry Pi's are just cool to work with and this little gem shouldn't ... MoreMy experience with many purchases from Vilros are always prompt in shipping and delivery. I got couple of these to see what it can do:- Runs Ubuntu 22.04 flawlessly on 64GB microSDHC card - WiFi etc.- You can run Pi-hole, web server, proxy or other services on it- You can get a small kit with case, HDMI adapter, USB micro to A adapter (you may have it already)- Runs great on an old phone Micro USB charger - USB power is the only thing you need- Also runs for a whole day on a USB portable charger 10000 Mac- You can't get the unit with GPIO headers already installed, so to avoid soldering work, you can use Pimoroni "hammer" headers- Very simple to connect external LCD (2x16), temp/humidity sensors, switches, LEDs, pretty much anything

I've been very impressed with this small machine. I'm using it for running (Java/Fortran) code that needs to run 24/7. I used to use an ageing laptop (average 25 watts). Now I'm running it on this machine at an even higher speed and it only consumes 1 watt. It's also extremely reliable and dead quiet (no fan). On the other hand, it seems almost impossible to play video or use a web browser, probably because of the small amount of RAM.
An amazing little board! this is an update from my Pi Zero (1) W, which is unable to run Ubuntu Core -- which this does flawlessly! The only downside of doing this is the challenge of GPIO pins being more difficult to access (much easier with PiOS, but other limitations arise). Very happy with the board itself, but also so happy with the speed of service and delivery from PiMoroni -- always outstanding! thanks so much
Love these to run about anything for retro from the previous century. It is my "go to" SBA for projects. For instance, it's perfect for running Amiga OS's, such as CoffinOS and such, with no issues once I figured out how to set up Amiberry. For this purchase, am making a streaming radio for my girlfriend for her upcoming birthday.
This is a definite upgrade from the previous zero.Much smoother to work with.I don't run a desktop, normally ssh. This seems much better as there are more core's so even with ssh and other activities ongoing the zero 2 keeps running smoothly. The ram is still 0.5GB which may limit some processes. However, any heavyweight stuff can be offloaded to a more powerful host, if needed. With the extra performance however, I haven't needed to do that. What I do like is that the power consumption is only slightly more than the original pi zero, and much less than any of the full pi's. This is great for portability or devices that you want uptime for 24/7, as this will save energy and costs.I did have some weirdness after a vanilla install of Buster where ssh would ... MoreThis is a definite upgrade from the previous zero.Much smoother to work with.I don't run a desktop, normally ssh. This seems much better as there are more core's so even with ssh and other activities ongoing the zero 2 keeps running smoothly. The ram is still 0.5GB which may limit some processes. This is great for portability or devices that you want uptime for 24/7, as this will save energy and costs.I did have some weirdness after a vanilla install of Buster where ssh would lock up, a quick edit in the ssh and sshd configs resolved that, that never happened on the previous zero.I have tried a standard pi desktop (Buster) on it and was surprised as it worked well enough to browse the web and get Gmail. I also managed to watch BBC iPlayer, YouTube didn't work well though. None full screen at 1080.But you are not likely to be buying for that. Worth noting though it can perform very basic desktop stuff. The previous zero was pretty useless at it and web was so slow or fail I never bothered with it.So if in a tight spot yes pop in a desktop and you can get email basic web and Google office suite up and running sort of smoothly. If that makes sense. When running the zero it gets slightly warmer than the original zero, but not too hot to touch. Cou temp in region of 50c when maxed up with no cooling needed. The for factor is the same but some components are in different places so may not fit in those hugging cases that get close and personal to the main board.I also see that the CPU is slightly different position, so any integrated cooler case may need to be checked prior to using, not that I have found any need for more cooling. So it's a great device, a little less power than 3b+ but way mor grunt than a standard zero.I fully recommend this device especially given the cost to performance it has.
Nic reasonably priced board. Works fine but some things are just plain annoying. The HDMI socket is not full sized nor the one used on Pi 4 & 5 (micro) but an intermediate size (mini) this means buying an adapator. There are two USB sockets one for power and one for data but it is not clear which is which (the one near the end is the power one). The camera socket is the same as he Pi 5 - smaller than the Pi 4 socket but equally annoying with the bit of plastic securing the camera ribbon sometimes popping out and threatening to get lost. These minor things aside the Zero 2 W is roughly the same power as the Pi 3 but with only 512 MB memory. Not bad for the price and the Zero cam works pretty well too.
This is one quick little device!I've made changes to my home network meaning I've had to tweak all of my Pi devices, from a B+, Pi Zero and everything in between. I couldn't believe how much quicker the Zero 2 W felt compared to all the others. Rapid bootup time, fast running of everything else. A good SD card and the latest (Bookworm) Raspbian is amazing on this little screamer.
Much nippier than the Pi Zero W, but still at a good price and still fits that same cases. However, it does need the official power supply. I could run the Pi Zero W on a cheap 5v power supply. It would have been nice to have a higher-priced option with more RAM, but I suspect the production complexity would have pushed the price much higher.
