An amazing little game about the adventures of a furry little alien and his robot companion. The story is good, the dialogue is funny, and the gameplay is fun and addicting. Ratchet Clank was a smash hit that has since spawned 10 sequels, a spin-off, and an upcoming movie. In my opinion this game isn't as good as some of its sequels but you can't deny where it all started. Its a great game and I'm personally looking forward to the release of the upcoming movie and the PS4 remake.

Oh, the amount of time my brothers and I spend on this game! It's my early teenage years. So many fun levels, the game is never boring with all the missions to do!

Action Platforming At Its Finest
4 December 2015

Very Rarely Does a Video Game Pull off Humor So Effortlessly, Yet Here We Stand With Ratchet And Clank. I Immediately Fell In Love With The Dynamic Duo, With Ratchet's Wise Cracks And Clank's Dorky Laugh, Both characters Are Written With a Unique Brand Of Comedy In Mind. Ratchet First Lays Eyes On The Robotic Clank After His Escape Pod Crashes Right Beside Ratchet As He Is Repairing His Own Ship On His Home Planet Of Veldin, After That Initial Meeting The Two Main Characters Are Almost Always At Odds. After A Few Missions our Heroes Are Introduced To The Standout Character Of The Game....Copernicus Quark, Quark Is Perhaps The Greatest Side Character I've Had The Pleasure Of Getting To Know In A Video Game. His "Me First" Mentality Would Probably Turn Most People Off But He Has This Lovable Dork Quality You Cant Ignore. The Level Design Is Fantastic With Most Levels Having A loop Around Design To Them, You Usually Go Down The Rabbit Hole Only To End Up Back at the Start Of The Level With A Nifty New Gadget For Your Trouble Ready To Take On The Main Path. The Weapon Selection Is Great As Well, Although Not Having A Strafe Ability Can Get Bothersome At Times, But I'ts By No Means A Deal Breaker. The Platforming Is Used To Great Effect, Insomniac Never Overwhelms You With it, But ItIs A Welcome Break For The Gunplay. The Enviroments Are Beautifully Realized, With Every Planet Seeming More Unique Than The Last, They Seem Like They Were Pulled Straight Out Of A Disney movie, Ratchet And Clank Is a Must have For Any Fan Of The Platforming genre Or Anyone Looking For a game With Rich Characters With A Great Story

Fantastic! A True Collectors Box for the Ratchet and Clank PS2 Quadrilogy
7 April 2022

The case meshed art is amazing, like a true Ratchet and Clank PS2 Collection! I wish fans from the Ratchet and Clank PS2 series would have gotten a boxed set like this for the four games. Despite that the box quailty is great, the disc holders are firm and practical for the slightly thicker box. The mashed art on the back is good too even though there are some technical errors on the lettering. The art inside the box is ok but my personal favorite, however this is more than i expected from a good 3rd party design.

Nice Game

Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando (known as Ratchet & Clank: Locked & Loaded in Europe, Australia and New Zealand) was released on November 11, 2003 in North America for the PlayStation 2. Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando was the first Western game to be bundled in with the PlayStation 2 hardware in Japan, but there were a few changes made to make it more popular. Ratchet's eyes are more of an anime style, and he was given large eyebrows. This game uses the 'leveling' system that appears in every other game. Rather than collecting platinum bolts to upgrade weapons to more powerful, Platinum Varieties, Weapons have nanobot technology that, after gaining enough experience, causes them to evolve into a more powerful form with new abilities. These nanobots also apply to Ratchet, and his health will increase once his own personal experience rises high enough. Going Commando also introduced regular strafing to gameplay, whereas Ratchet could only strafe with the thruster pack, and he would only hover in the first game. Plus, Instead of an improbable "bomb glove" like in the first one, the game uses a bazooka-like gun which shoots bombs. The game takes place in a different setting than the first installment, this time in the Bogon Galaxy. In Going Commando Ratchet competes in hoverbike races and engages in spaceship battles. The story in this chapter has Megacorp boss, Abercrombie Fizzwidget, hire Ratchet and Clank to retrieve the "protopet", a new invention stolen by a masked thief. The duo retrieve the protopet and confront the thief, but "he" turns out to be a female, Angela, who helps them investigate the protopet's true origins. They find out Abercrombie Fizzwidget is Captain Qwark in disguise and he created the protopet to spread disaster across the galaxy. He plans to frame Ratchet, Clank and Angela, and then destroy the original protopet to restore his reputation as a hero. Qwark then films himself attempting to "cure" the original protopet using a device made by Angela. The device backfires, and turns the protopet into a huge mutant monster that the duo will have to defeat as a final boss.

One of the greats!
7 June 2023

Thank you DKoldies for reminding me how awesome the Ratchet and Clank series was on PS2. I remember rushing home in middle school to play the OG and can't begin to count how many times I played it through. You guys do an amazing job at preserving some amazing childhood memories that I now get to share with my kids. Thank you guys!

Ratchet & Clank takes classic action adventure gaming to a whole new dimension, delivering a blend of action-platforming, shooting and adventuring that revolves around the acquisition and use of hi-tech gadgets and weapons as well as exploration, puzzle-solving and combat--all set in a vibrantly detailed futuristic sci-fi world. There's big adventure, tons of enemies and an arsenal of weapons and gadgets, but what makes this game the one to have is that you get to blow up.
