Mate, this thing is unreal. Catches rats no problem but when it caught a mouse it almost cut it in half. This trap is brutal and believe me when I say it works as it even caught a bird.I highly recommend this product as it does exactly what it describes and then some.

Cruel Trap. I heard it go off, went to bed, other side of the house. I awoke to banging about 7 hours later. The Rat had dragged the trap from the back of the house to the front, about 20m. When I looked to see what the banging was, it was a Kookaburra grabbing the rats body belting it, like they do with a snake. The Rat was alive. I will not go into details. I had to go outside and end the rats life, but also protect the Kookaburra as it was never going to remove the rat from the trap. Had Kookaburra eaten the Rats body, it would have had the trap stuck arounds its beak. Now these traps, do not have a thin metal bar that comes down with force that kills the rat instantly, it pins them in there between plastic jaws. Placed the trap where there is suspected traffic at night. Once in the morning when discarding the dead rat had impression that there was a last movement. The second time, midnight, heard the trap catching a rat which continued to squeal. Went outside and had to push on the trap to properly break the neck (very reluctant). Felt very guilty and unhappy. The springs must be much stronger for an instant kill. I disposed the trap after the experience.

This trap should be taken off the market. When it was finally triggered by the rat, it caught and injured it, but didn't kill it. I had a trail camera on the trap to confirm what was coming into the area, and work out why it wasn't catching the rat, and so the morning after it caught the trap I saw what had happened. It caught the rat a bit before 5am, and I saw awful footage for about 10 mins before it went out of shot. I went straight down to check, and the rat was still alive at 8am. That poor rat. I am so upset. This product specifically says "oversize trap kills large rats fast". This wasn't even a particularly large rat, and it definitely wasn't fast. I threw the trap out, because I'm not ever using it again. No one should.
I bought 3 of these for my garage as they looked like they'd be easier to handle and setup than traditional trap. I have a rat that has recently moved into my garage. Set the 3 up using very small amount of peanut butter in each. Set up against 3 walls it travelled along. First night caught the rat. Decent size rate, looks like it died staright away with trap still in original place. The only negative is I couldn't bait them and leave them unarmed in order to get rate familiar with trap. There's no way to have the food exposed unless armed. But it worked first go so can't complain.
Bought 2 of these traps.First trap caught a rat straight away when used with the attractant bait. The trap didn't kill the rat, I had to do that myself. After I dumped the dead rat I couldn't get the trap to reset.Second trap was set but snapped itself closed and would never reset.I like the ergonomics and design, but it needs more killing power and a better build quality.
I bought this a month ago and caught 2 large rats and accidentally a blue tongue lizard (sorry mate). It took around a week, it likely took so long due to the human smell from handling it without gloves. They were getting into my compost bin and chewing the plastic.I used a small dab of peanut butter and left it outside the bin in the weather. It even rained and still got em.
I would do anything to have read these reviews before buying this trap, I was not prepared to witness the amount of suffering I just witnessed. It promises a quick and instant kill. It just half-crushes their little necks, leaving them terrified, trapped and screaming in agony, forcing you to take matters into your own hands and either panic-releasing or dispatching the wounded animal (disease risks and all). I am mortified and so sorry I ever bought this thing. I’d encourage anyone reading this to opt for a stronger kill trap with proven and repeated ability to kill instantly, or a safe live trap that can be taken to the vets for more humane euthanasia (I used to do this with mouse infestations, vets don’t charge for this service usually). I know better now and will be focussing on completely rodent-proofing our property now (prevention is better than the cure), but wish I could go back and give the rat the quick, painless and dignified death that it deserved.
Terrible inhuman trap. I wish I had read the reviews before buying it. The first time I checked the trap It was missing from where I placed it. I found it 15m away with no rat in but there was blood on it. I thought it was just a lucky escape and reset it. The second day I checked the trap and I had to search for it again but this time there was a rat trapped but very much alive. I don't know how long it was there for but I could not see it dying any time soon so I had to clobber it over the head. The trap is very good at catching the rats as it has a very sensitive pressure plate but the spring is far too weak to kill humanly.
Trap is easy to bait, easy to set, but completely useless when it comes to trapping. They get sprung, but nothing is there! Maybe the rats in my neck of the woods are smarter than average - in any case, get prepared for disappointment.
