Razer BlackShark V2 Pro Wireless Gaming Headset

I was looking for a wireless replacement for the wired Plantronics headsets my work issues but with better sound quality for listening to music between calls. Out of the box the audio and mic quality were awful.Here's my advice; disable THX completely unless you are playing games, stereo sources sound abysmal due to the simulated surround feature of THX. Having said that, from my research, these headsets have the best mic out of all the gaming headsets.My mic mute button doesn't interact with Teams, so you will still look as unmuted on your end which can take some getting used to.One good feature is that you can pause/play the last audio source by clicking the power button, useful for stopping music before accepting a call.

Amaing sound and comfort with a few issues.

I’m not one to praise companies but hats off to whoever decided to put 50mm triple drivers in this product. When gaming you can hear absolutely EVERYTHING. The highs, mids and lows are all crystal clear. The bass reponse was the big surprise. At no point does the bass ever muddle the audio it simply enhances the experience with deep, rich (but not overwhelming bass). The Razer PC software allows you to tune the audio to your exact taste and save multiple audio profiles for different games and programs on your computer. I’ve seen complaints about the Razer software being, “buggy” but personally I have yet to run into any issues. Speaking of issues let’s now talk about the problems that stop this headset from getting a perfect 5/5 rating. The first is the microphone sidetone aka (being able to hear your own voice through the headset microphone) is virtually nonexistent. In the Razer software you can crank up the sidetone volume to maximum and you will barely be able to hear yourself. You can turn the volume knob on the side of the headset all the way up to hear yourself a little better but this introduces a new issue. The issue is static feedback aka (white noise) this only happens when the volume controller on the headset is turned to over 75% volume or under 15% volume. If you can deal with those drawbacks I would say at $119 this is a no brainer. The sound quality is amazing and the comfort is top tier. Keep in mind you will be limited in what devices you can use this headset with as the only form of connection is through wireless USB or the wired 3.5mm Jack. I caught these on sale and am having a great time. A side note this is primarily a PC headset sounds great on PS5 but you will not have separate chat and game mix audio sliders. This isn’t a dealbreaker as you can manually adjust chat volume settings in the menu of most multiplayer games it’s just an extra step that some might not be to fond of. Hope this review helps you make your decision. Remember if you spot these on sale definitely go for it.

I’m anything but a Razer fanboy, their overpriced, underdeveloped products have disappointed in the past, but the Blackshark V2 wireless headphones provide a comprehensive, extremely affordable (relative to the competition), and extremely quality experience.To start, the overall design of the headset is incredible. Comfortable, light, good sound after tweaking, horrible wireless range

These are lightweight and comfortable. They have large-ish ear cups, but I personally find the round cups on the Kraken TE much more comfortable and cooler than the oval cups on these. The default sound profile is pretty meh, especially over wireless, but some EQ adjustments (my settings later in this review) help out immensely and they sound really good after tweaking. There are 2 main reasons I docked 2 stars on these. 1) The range is BAD. I can walk 10-15 feet away and the headset will start beeping, indicating the connection is getting lost. That's not terrible for most purposes, but what is terrible is that the range seems entirely dependent on line of sight. I also can't tell whether the 2.4gHz wifi gets interference from other nearby devices like a TV or console, but that's something to keep in mind as well. 2) No chatmixing dial on the hardware or, from what I can tell, in the Synapse software. I messed with Synapse a bit but, honestly, I prefer Steelseries GG software and won't use anything else at this point. I recommend turning on THX Spatial in Synapse, turning on Bass Boost, and leaving the EQ at default and everything else off. The Steelseries Sonar suite has a software-side chatmixing slider you can use. Below are the 2 EQ profiles I've been using in Steelseries: one from the Razer Game preset and one I tweaked myself using more of a V-shaped curve than an M-shaped curve (the Razer game profile emphasizes the base and upper-mid range). Recommended EQ Settings: Razer Game profile: 3dB@31Hz, 4dB@63Hz, 5dB@120Hz, 0dB@250/500/1kHz, 4dB@2kHz, 3dB@4kHz, 4dB@8kHz, 2dB@16kHz Chadzilla: 2dB@30Hz, 1dB@63Hz, 0dB@125/250/500Hz, 1dB@1kHz, 2dB@2kHz, 3dB@4kHz, 4dB@8kHz, 5dB@16kHz

Great sound, very short lifespan.

One of the better sounding wireless gaming headsets on the market. It's obviously not going to sound are great as wired headsets, especially studios, but, specifically for what it is, they sound great. The clamp force isn't too intense or too loose. I personally like the black and white aesthetic and how it moves away from Razer's mostly green products.Unfortunately, this item only lasted 9 months with me. Now, it repeatedly disconnects every half a minute or so. Sometimes, it takes as long as two to three minutes between a disconnect. Other times, it disconnects three to four times in a row. Where to start. Im somewhere between 1 star and a four star review. The analog control on the side of the headset is cool, but in reality the hardware they used is crap. To have the headset at full volume you turn the dial back 1/8.If this was the only issue I could live with the headset but sadly it is not.The Drives/firmware of the headset is awful on windows. I had to turn off the THX surround sound. Mom can be in the same room with son on computer, playing her pumped up volume on surround sound, base beat speakers and with headset on, you literally cannot hear the background music NOR do the players hear the music through mic. SON is HAPPY. Eye-Spying MOM is HAPPY.

Overall Good Wireless Headset

Went from a Logitech G933 wireless headset that I used for about 3 years to this after the microphone on the old headset just stopped working. Prior to that, had used a Corsair Void Pro RGB wireless headset that worked for about 2 years (although with various issues, do not recommend) and then the battery refused to hold a charge.So far, the Razer headset has worked well, and the biggest pro I'd say is that the battery is very long lasting. I use the headset for easily 12-15 hours a day without issue. I work from home and am either listening to music or in virtual meetings or on phone calls pretty much all day. I then usually do some gaming or watch shows for a few hours in the evening. The real test for me though will be how long the Razer headset continues working, since I've not had luck with any wireless headset working beyond 2-3 years so far.Pros of Logitech G933:--------------------------------Better overall sound quality and sound isolation.Deeper bass without sounding muddled.User replaceable battery.Removeable/washable ear cups.Better wireless range (~10ft more range).Pros of Razer BlackShark v2:---------------------------------------Much longer battery life (about 30-40% longer for me).Can get louder than the G933, but distorts more at high volume.Noticeably better microphone.Lighter weight without being too light/sliding around.Lastly, Razer's software is actually really good compared to virtually all other PC peripheral software I've used, most of which tends to be total garbage. Logitech's G-Hub software is functional, but also greatly reduces the overall volume of the G933 when it's installed and I have no idea why. I ended up just uninstalling it.

So after the constant complaints of not being able to understand and hear me, I finally just unplugged them and went back to my webcam and external speakers.Another thing to touch on is the non-adjustable headband. For reference, I wear a size L motorcycle helmet and these things just barely fit my head, although it was a good fit once I wore them "properly". If you have a larger head though then you might want to skip these.I took these back and spent $6 more for the Corsair HS80 headset and it was night and day!! I did have to install a Dolby app from the MS Store on my Windows 10 system, but they sound so much better and the microphone is absolutely perfect. Even if these BlackSharks are okay or good enough for you, the other is just so much better all the way around.
