I owned one of the original Razer Boomslangs years ago, and it perform flawlessly. So when I went looking for an optical gaming mouse, Razer was my first choice. I decided upon the Razer Diamondback Plasma LE as it had a cool blue glow which would match my computer decor. The mouse looks great, even in the dark. There is no light that emanates from the bottom of the mouse, it uses invisible wave lengths. The cord is tangle free, thin, and light. It stays out of the way - I hardly notice its there. The mouse itself is extremely light, especially compared to my Microsoft or Cordless mice on my other machines. The mouse tracks incredibly, even on my black desk which has a slightly reflective surface that throws off cheaper optical mice. The "on the fly" adjustment for sensitivity is invaluable when switching between gaming and application mode. The Diamondback has 7 buttons, but it should really be marketed as a 5 button mouse. The two buttons on the right hand side of the mouse, while independently programmable, do not lend themselves to use by a right handed person. In fact, its downright impossible for me to hit them during a heated gaming session. I imagine a left handed person would find the buttons on the left hand side equally difficult to press. My Diamondback actually developed a problem with the right mouse button during normal use. This problem developed after the stores 30 day return policy, but during Razer's 2 year warranty. I had thrown out the packaging, so the store I purchased the mouse from would not take a return. So I turned to Razer (http://www.razerzone.com) to service my mouse. Razer informed me that I had to go through the store I purchased my mouse from in order to process the return. I explained why this was not possible, and they replied with a form requesting information about the mouse (date of purchase, serial number, etc). They stated that this information was necessary to process an item not directly purchased from them. I provided them with the details they requested as well as a copy of my receipt. This is where the ignoring started. Instead of receiving a reply within 24 hours as is stated in their terms of service, I did not receive replies at all. I replied to my support case email twice over the course of several days asking what the hold up was, and received form letters in response basically stating that they do not accept RMAs for mice not purchased from them. Keep in mind, this is how the MANUFACTURER of this mouse is treating its relatively small customer base. I am now stuck with a mouse that does not work, and after 2 weeks of dealing with Razer I have no resolution in sight. They agreed to take the mouse back and then reneged. I will personally NOT be buying another mouse from Razer, despite genuinely liking the product. Recommended No

Very good hardware design and very comfortable. The cloud software however is nothing short of horrible. It took 2 days of online research along with trial and error to get the software to install the drivers. I would suggest anyone who is not tech savvy to avoid the Razer brand and all their products now force you to use their software. Their move to cloud based drivers paired with the very poorly designed software has rendered many devices useless to their customers. I found this out when researching my problems. I attempted to employ support from their product team however, in the end, their turn around times and suggestions proved useless.

Really love this mouse! It moves well and the colours are great! May be a bit uncomfortable if you have like... really small hands. Also; If you play a game and it resets your custom colours just go into Synapse and turn off Chroma Apps (May save you some time and confusion)

If they had a nice 3/4th of an inch button diagonal to the left of the scroll button or even one diamond one set vertically that was split in the middle and set behind the scroll ball would be great for buttons 5 and 7 cause you can easily maneuver your index finger comfortably lower and to the right while your middle stays rested, or vice versa. It would give 'Diamond Back' a whole new outlook on life and functionality in stead of a useless, or near useless, combo 5 and 7 button on the right side. If you want a 'diamondback-shaped' mouse, look no further
4 May 2017

I had one of these back in the day, and loved the shape. Being left-handed at work, right-handed at home (gaming!) I prefer an ambidextrous shape.CONS- Doesn't seem to sit quite flat on my desk- Wheel is very 'clicky' and has a fair bit of play- Very noisy to use, unless I use a mouse mat- Button click is a little heavy- The accompanying software requires an internet connection, a login, and acceptance of a EULA :/- Expensive- Super tight-fitting USB plug. Gotta shove that thing in. This may also be a pro.- Silly, garish lightsPROS- Lovely long braided cord- The shape. For me, it's perfection. I've tried knock-off diamondbacks over the years, but there's no beating the real thing.

Replaced a Razer Imperator
7 September 2017

My first gamer mouse was a Razer Diamondback (around 20 bucks with 3 buttons) and when I could afford better stuff I replace it with the Razer Imperator. I like to play games in my free time and I I've had the Imperator for a couple of years. It was a disaster from the start and had planned to change it asap only a few months after the purchase, I kept it for as long as I did due to its high price. Recently after some browsing, along came this new version of my good ole' friend. The price, the feel and the response were better than my previous mouse (despite both being Razer). The last straw is that the Razer Diamondback Chroma looks way better than the Imperator. Small changes ruined this for me
9 December 2015

There's nothing TECHNICALLY wrong with the mouse, if you like the feel of it. If you're buying this because you have an old Diamondback, pay attention to how you use it...if you don't rely on that rubber ring for grip, you'll be fine with this. If you DO use that ring, look at the Mamba instead. If possible, try one out in a local store display, because Newegg made me pay shipping and charged a restock fee. Needless to say, a local store got my money for the Mamba, and I learned never to buy anything online that may be taste-subjective.

This thing was a hunk of junk. I loved the way it looked on day one, and its movement and precision were pretty great from what I recall, but that's about all the good things I can say about it. The first issue was in the scroll wheel; it lost its tactile feel within the first six months, and made scrolling a waste of time (jumped all over the place.) Next were the rubber grips on the sides; they started chipping and ripping away, making the mouse feel generally bad in the hand. Then came the ghosting in the left mouse button into the second year, on buttons that never really felt nor sounded good to begin with... Finally, the optical tracking died, before I made it to year three. I foolishly replaced it with another Razer mouse, which ended up splitting down its ... MoreThis thing was a hunk of junk. And no, I didn't throw/hit/drop it. And no, I don't weigh 800 lbs, and no, I don't death grip my mouse... This isn't exactly meant to be anti-Razer propaganda, but I no longer have any faith in their products. It's a gimmick. I'll likely stick to Logitech mice for the rest of my life.

1 July 2017

It came pretty fast but I received it with no box and you can clearly see scratch marks on the bottom like it's been used. and I ordered a razer Firefly diamondback mouse but I received a used razer mamba mouse. I cannot register it to razer id for warranty either. we are keeping it cause it'll be a hassle to buy packaging and ship it back especially when it's a birthday present.
