I have an older Razer headset which I have been using for over 10 years that still works great. I have been playing a lot of Call of Duty Warzone, and lately I've noticed that some people I was playing with could hear things that I wasn't able to hear, and they could also tell the direction the sound was coming from. I decided that maybe it was time to upgrade.I purchased this set, and set it up on my computer, and also downloaded a driver for it. Overall, I have to give this a big thumbs up. I can definitely hear better now, and I 'm able to tell in which direction the sound is coming from, so that is a really good thing when it comes to games like Warzone. I will have to see if there is a way for me to adjust how the voices sound, but even if there isn't, this headset is still far superior to my other really good headset that I have been using for years.

1) THX 7.1 SurroundThis was one of the bigger reasons why I purchased the headset. In general, it actually degraded my spatial awareness in-game. Things sound "right" and there was only a little bit of tuning needed in the EQ.4) Fit/WearNormally, the cartilage around my ears would start to get sore after a few hours. However, the cups on this headset are deep enough that this isn't a problem. The deepness of the cups do end up looking pretty funny on your head though. I wouldn't say that this headset is the most fashionable as a result - but, hey, nobody has to see you when you're using them.5) Software/DriversBeing forced to use Razer Synapse is kind of a huge downer. You have to make an account and deal with yet more software forced down your throat. I don't even use 99% of the features in the software because they make little to no difference in the overall quality of the headset. The only thing useful that the software does is enable some of the buttons on the actual headset.6) ButtonsI like that there's a mute button on the end of the mic - this is super useful for quickly muting myself during a meeting without having to actually interact with the computer. The volume slider/roller on the headphone cup is also very useful.

I had to unplug/re-plug the DAC nearly every time to get it to run the GameDAC Game mode. Eventually the DAC crashed entirely and Game would no longer work at all, leaving me with only Chat and the chat mode sounded meek for in game audio.Steelseries agreed to RMA it even though it was out of warranty (Good on you Steelseries!) since it was a known issue, but they would only RMA the DAC and not the entire headset & DAC. Stock on the DAC only was constantly MIA thanks to covid, so I waited nigh on 11 weeks before the DAC alone was available. In the meantime, I first bought the Astro A40 + MixAmp, which I owned less than 24 hours, then took that back and bought the Kraken Ultimate headset instead, so I would have quality game/chat audio with clan mates while I waited for the DAC. To be honest, I was intending to return the Kraken if the DAC showed up within the 14 day return period, or sell the Kraken when the DAC showed up if outside the 14 days. *shame faced*Well color me surprised because this headset truly kicks gluteus maximus, and I may just sell my $243 Arctis Pro + GameDAC if the replacement DAC ever arrives, and keep the Kraken Ultimate instead. This is a really good headset and for $120 less than the Arctis Pro + GameDAC, or the even more expensive ($250) and abysmally bad Astro A40 + MixAmp.With the THX Spatial audio on the Razer Kraken Ultimate ($129 on BestBuy), you can tell exactly where an enemy is in 3D sound, vs approximately knowing the direction with the 2D plane surround of many competitors, which doesn’t help locate opponents above/below you. And the Kraken Ultimate is ridiculously better than the abysmal stereo from all directions at once, bad guy echoing from everywhere “directional” sound of the Astro A40 + MixAmp (Why does the A40 + MixAmp get nearly 5 stars?! Really, it was awful! Like $30 ultra budget headset bad!).The sound on the Kraken Ultimate is deep, rich and full with solid bass, while not sounding muddy and bears full presence while sounding crisp (as long as you don’t turn bass boost on, which makes everything in game sound muddy). By comparison, the Astro A40 + MixAmp distorted at low volumes, had no presence, and 16" naval guns sounded like those paper 4th of July snappers you throw at the ground, or a drum stick against a galvanized trash can lid, and that is being generous. (I know I said it, but I'm still trying to figure out why that pile of awfulness gets nearly 5 stars?? It is shockingly bad for a $250 headset!).Audio on the Kraken Ultimate is genuinely great, customization & personalizing options for the sound settings and EQ tweaking is abundant, it has double the EQ band adjustments over it’s far more expensive A40 brethren (10 vs 5 bands) and more MIC adjustments to dial in how your voice sounds. The MIC is also clear and easy to understand and mutes easily with a press on the MIC itself, with a red light on the MIC to let you know it is muted. It is also comfortable on the head with no pressure points and has larger ear cups than any Razer headset I have previously owned, so no pressure on the ears at all. This headset seriously competes with rivals far senior in price ($243 Arctis Pro + GameDAC), and annihilates the $250 Astro A40 + MixAmp in every category. My one and only quibble with the Kraken Ultimate headset, is that the cord is about 3 feet shorter than the others (approx 6’ vs 9’), necessitating plugging it into a front port on your PC tower vs the rear port that I had the others plugged into, and a re-route of the cord as a result. If Razer would add 3 foot of cord to this thing, it would be a 5 star headset all day long without even blinking. Even with the short cord issue, I still give the Kraken Ultimate a solid 4 and totally recommend this headset. Just make sure your front ports are working & reliable before buying.

I used Logitech G322 for more than a year until I couldn't hold it anymore and had to make a new purchase. Most headphones, including the G322, were relatively comfortable during the first week. However, they can get very painful due to clamping force basically pushing the eyeglasses rims into your skull.I was in the market for a new headphone, and I saw this being displayed on Best Buy. I am not an audiophile, but I can feel more bass and my games feel more natural sounding (and louder) than G322.The microphone is a huge upgrade from G322. This is a lot clearer than my old headphone. If I were to give some parameter, it would be around 70% toward YouTuber's fancy $100 standalone mic than a standard "basic" headphone mic. The noise cancellation works like a charm. It omits all the breathing noise when you're speaking. In short, if you're in the market for a headphone and you're a glasses user, you're at the right spot. This is for you, and you will not hate it.
The Razer Nari Ultimate is an excellent piece of gaming hardware! However, there are some things that you, the buyer, should be aware of:1. In my honest opinion, you will need to tweak the equalizer sound settings to suite what you like best, because the default sound settings and preset equalizer sets don't do this gaming headset any justice (again, this is just my opinion). I strongly suggest you search out best settings for the Razer Nari Ultimate online, even YouTube. I was ready to return this headset because I was not impressed with the sound I was getting. I decided to do some further research and discovered that the user really should tweak the equalizer sound settings using the custom EQ settings option. Doing this made a HUGE difference and totally made a complete opposite impression on me! I decided to keep this headset!2. The battery life is advertised as 20 hours with Haptics and RBG lighting off, and 8 hours with Haptics and RBG lighting on. While it is true that you'll get at or very near to 20 hours without the extras, the advertised 8 hours with Haptics and RBG lighting on is true right to the minute. If you turn Haptics off and leave the RBG lighting on, you'll get a bit longer than just 8 hours. However, if you turn on Haptics and leave RBG lighting off, you'll get 8 hours solid. Weird, I know, but just realize that RBG lighting doesn't draw as near as much energy as the Haptics will.3. You can still use the headset while it's being charged (big plus for some gamers!).I'm very impressed with the Razer Nari Ultimate gaming headset.
This is my second pair of Razer Kraken wired headphones. I bought this one for my son who is recently into gaming, and I've had my first pair for the last few years and used them for everything from gaming, school, listening to music, providing system support, and work video conferences. They continue to perform incredibly well and the THX Spacial in-game audio is nothing short of amazing. My previous experience was so good that it was a no-brainer when these went on sale. If you're already using the Razer ecosystem the integration is easy and seamless; I've been using for decades and a total Razer fanboy. If you've not tried their other gear it's highly recommended; if you don't have any Razer peripherals, well you can't go wrong on the Kraken headset at the sale ... I know this might bother some but specifically chose this so I didn't have to worry about recharging.I totally love the mute function which is on the mic - squeeze/click it to mute. Volume wheel and 3D on/off switch/LED on the back of the headset. Totally easy and intuitive. The RGB is awesome. Enough said.Grab a pair and have fun!
As the title states, this headset is a great addition to your gaming hardware! Excellent audio quality with configurable equalizer. If you're not into customizing your sound settings, you can opt for preset equalizer settings instead. Comfort level is really nice and is well balanced, so it doesn't feel heavy on the head. The RGB lighting is cool, but unnecessary since the user can't see the lights unless the headset is not being used. The mic quality is good and haven't received any complaints from friends online. The build quality seems to be exceptionall good and durable. Overall, I'm truly impressed with this gaming headset and I'm positive that you would be too! Happy Gaming!!
I think this is one of the best wired headsets I have ever owned. It's comfortable and works great with gaming. I prefer wired over wireless because of the response. The cord doesn't get tangled or anything, The sound is amazing and it truly is THX.I do wish it was both wired and wireless, so you can switch between the two. All in all, a great headset and quality. The mic is better than even the one on my webcam. And remember to take care of your stuff, It fits nicely on my RGB stand. Can't get enough RGB.

When it works, which is rarely, the sound quality is very nice. The mic is also very responsive and clear, and the physical headphones themselves are well made. The issue is, you will have to constantly restart your PC or reinstall the software as it simply stops detecting your games or using your custom settings after a few minutes of use, or if you're lucky, a few hours. The THX Surround sound more often than not just stops working, and you are simply hearing the default stereo output (It's a very noticeable difference and easily testable as you can minimize your program and switch between stereo and surround and hear that nothing is changing again.) Your custom EQ profiles will just stop working, and there will no longer be a detectable sound change between any of the defaults. Also games will just launch without the saved sound profiles you choose for them as well and will require you to switch it on and off several times before it finally takes effect. The only easy fix is to reboot the computer and then the problems just start again a few minutes or hours later. If you run into these issues, you'll discover dozens of dead ended threads about the exact problems I'm describing going on over the last year with no resolution except some vague references to updates and similar issues across their older products. Many of the "solutions" include reinstalling windows. This is just ridiculous, reinstalling windows to get razer's drivers to function is a desperate fix at best and doesn't even address the problem.I build computers as a hobby and am generally literate when it comes to basic software and hardware, this rig is new and has no issues whatsoever and I can confidently say there is no conflicting software or issues that should cause this. The only sound drivers previously on the PC were the base windows and Motherboard ones.Razer's software has it's own output and drivers that take over, which unfortunately, just don't do their job, and you will find yourself constantly minimizing games when you notice the sound profile has changed and seeing that your custom settings or the surround sound has simply switched off. This is beyond frustrating, and certainly not worth $130.Take my word for it, if you like to tweak hardware settings and customize the sound profile, just buy something else. This will be the first pair of headphones I've ever returned in my entire life, and I genuinely wanted to like them and it actually made me sad that I have to even write this review, but seeing how this issue is pretty common despite the good reviews, I felt it necessary. If one day the issue is actually corrected, then yes, I'd say these would be a great options, as after a little tweaking you can get pretty good quality out of them. It's just not worth the money and effort to have to constantly troubleshoot it before using them every time.
I have gone through a number of headsets over the years. Usually the band that connects the two earphones fatigues and breaks. These seem to have a metal band inside that shows no sign of breaking down. Sound quality is good enough for gaming and teleconference calls. The USB interface plugs and plays in both Windows and Linux without additional software.I like that the microphone has a red LED to indicate when the mic is off. I like that positive indication to show when I have privacy.I don't recall what I paid for this headset but it was reasonable considering the brand and quality.
