One meal packet was damaged and contents had covered most everything in the box, but remaining packs were good. Must have been rough handling, because the packing and the packages themselves are pretty good.We didn't try any meals, but ingredients lust looks good - better quality than many, and the damaged one smelled good.Portion size, like most packaging, is not realistic, so expect about half the servings advertised.

The way the world is right now I would suggest that everyone should begin to stock their shelves with items like these. Readywise offers great variety at an affordable price. These are the meals that will keep me and my family alive in case disaster strikes. If not for myself this purchase is for them.

I've actually sampled some of the food items and they are good. While I hope I never need them, its nice to know I have this stuff. This area has suffered from long power outages and snow storms that kept us house bound for as long as a couple of weeks. Being campers, we have all of the other necessities like a generator, kero heater, sleeping bags, portable stoves, etc.... food is always the problem in such cases and this solves that issue.

If your storing foods this is the way to go, it may cost a bit more up front but in the long run you'll save money. This dehydrted foods, (If stored correctly) will store for 25 years, verses can foods that only store up to 2-3 years before going bad. Once you stock up on this type of food, you don't have to worry for the next 25 years. But one thing to keep in mind is you'll need extra water stored up for re-hydrating the food when you need it. And the food is great tasting, not like MRE's. Those, (In my opinion) are not worth the money. They taste terrable. and you have to watch who you buy them from, they could already be outdated when you get them.
Your choices for people who don't eat meat are meager at best. Also address meal packs for people who are lactose intolerant. When you pull meat from the menu the first choice of companies seems to be loading every meal with cheese. That doesn't always work for people, definitely not for us. I'd rather go back to eating flesh than blow out every ounce of food that I eat and more because my body can't process dairy. You're better off not eating at all than you are by making yourself sick ingesting something that depletes every bit of energy from your body.
This product serves it's purpose well. The bucket it arrives in is sealed and very portable, and stores well in an out-of-the-way area, like the closet or under the sink. The meals are all neatly stacked, and easily accessible. As with most freeze dried meals, the taste is questionable. You won't get a "fresh off of the stove" taste, but for what the product is, the taste is favorable (Bean and rice was my favorite). If you're thinking of storing these in a Bug Out Bag, or what have you, I'd go with other pre-packaged meals/food stuffs around this site. Each bag that I've looked at takes four (4) cups of water to prepare, and it's suggestible to do so over the stove. I don't believe that these meals were made to be cooked in the bag, seeing as the bag only weighs ... MoreThis product serves it's purpose well. I don't believe that these meals were made to be cooked in the bag, seeing as the bag only weighs 9.2 dry ounces, and the meal takes about 32 ounces of water to prepare (And the bags don't seem to be seal-able).Overall, this "Bucket o' Food" is a great addition to anyone's supply closet or surplus cache, although I don't see anyone needing more than the 240 serving bucket (Which comes with breakfast food and soup, where as this one doesn't). Price wise, it's decent. Some places are higher, some are lower, but for the quality of the food and the taste, the price is well worth it. If anything, at minimum, the peace of mind is well over the cost. :) I would highly suggest this product for anyone to have.
I bought this package and the larger 160 serving box. I got these for "emergencies" so I have not yet had to use any. I will say that I was exceptionally pleased with Midway's pricing as I more typically see these listed at almost twice the amount that I paid. I am also pleased that the date stamp for both tubs was something like June of 2020 and the other "late 2020" so I am confident that I will be no shape "age wise" to need these 20 years from now.Likely I will break down at some point and open the tubs and take some packages while I boat camp or while hunting way off in NW Wyoming.I am easy to please with "freeze-dried food" and even remember as a kid liking my elementary school cafeteria food. So I am sure that this will be fine.I have recommended this ... MoreI bought this package and the larger 160 serving box. I got these for "emergencies" so I have not yet had to use any. But again, I have not yet needed to try out any of the packages. The menus are diverse enough for me. Pretty basic stuff but all stuff that I will eat.
I already have a year and a half supply of Wise Emergency Food (8X120 servings) on hand in a cool, dry location. I purchased two of these 60 serving buckets - one for our RV and the other as a gift for an elderly neighbor. Fair price and compact for easy storage. In these uncertain times, planning and preparation is key. Twenty-one years in the Marines taught me that.
Haven't opened and don't plan on opening for over 20 years. For emergency purpose only. Looks to be of good quality, storage containers are smaller than they look. more like 3.5 gal instead or the 5 gal. size I thought they would be. Having said that, they store much better in size than I would have thought and much lighter too. Very pleased, can't wait to try them some day, as by the time I was to rotate in new and eat these ones in 20-ish years. That would mean I made it to 77 years old, ha, ha. Will be purchasing more, as you know the kids won't and they will for sure need food in a emergency situation.
then I tasted it. Cooked up the "savory Stroganoff". Tasted like warm flour mush with the consistency of spackle. really had zero taste. I am by no means picky and will eat and be happy with anything. But not for $120. Made my friend open his pasta Alfredo too. Horrible. faint taste and smell of vomit. Hopefully I can return this. Ill put that money into making my own long term emergency food. When the zombies come I will just cook and eat them. All the positive reviewers either haven't tasted it, or have had there taste buds removed. It comes sealed in a nice bucket because they hope you wont unseal and taste it until there is an emergency.
