I bought this boot two years ago and wear it as my daily work boot. The industrial environment I work in is predominantly concrete and a lot of wash down areas. These boots have held up and look even better with age. I plan on re-soling these boots and hope they last for years to come. At some point, when I need to replace, this will be my only option. In regards to previous reviewers, I have not had any issues with the tongue and gussets. These boots will take some time to wear in, but when they do its like putting on your favorite pair of socks.

These boots are phenomenal. Comfortable, warm, waterproof, stylish. I wore redwing sawmills for five years and this, with the poron liner, feels like a natural transition. I am an 11 d brannock, the 11 in this model works perfectly as it did in the sawmills. It should be noted that I prefer to wear thinner athletic/lifestyle socks so if you want to wear thick winter socks it may be a bit snug true to size with the gore tex liner. That said they are very warm so I wouldnât imagine needing a thick sock. Russet Taos is a brilliant color, almost blending oxblood with an burnt orange. Very versatile, it pops and blends great. Strong heel counter/crepe soul gives stability and the metatarsal pad on the boot insert is best arch support man could ask for. Your back, knees and feet will thank you. And I, thank you Redwing, thatâs a win. Letâs go.

This review pertains only to this style 8864 not other Red Wing items. I do not recommend this style or model. Buy another style or model. I am have/am having similar issues with the boot that multiple reviewers are reporting. The gusset/tongue tends to poke and cut the wearer around the ankle. I read about this issue this on multiple sites and ignored it, and yes it is true. Go with the 8875 if you want the color, skip this model. My first review was removed and I spoke to Red Wing they claim to have no idea why my review was removed. I paid 400.00 for this boot and now I regret it. Terrible boot style this one and poor customer service. If there was a zero star option I would have selected it.

I got these brand new when they first launched. It was announced that there was a poron layer under the goretex bootie that I was concerned about the long term durability of, with good reason. I'm well past the return or exchange period, but I only wear these boots during the wet fall and spring weather so they only have a couple months of wear time on them. The poron in the right boot has shifted and balled up under my arch and no amount of kicking or manipulating it with my hand will straighten it out. I will have to have a cobbler tear the boot down and I will be replacing the poron with literally anything else. The Sawmill used a leather foot bed under their liner, why couldn't the 8864? And I don't understand the decision behind making their waterproof boot ... MoreI got these brand new when they first launched. Let me start by saying that I only wear these when itâs raining/snowing.I purchased them when they first released. I own several pairs of RW boots including a few storm welted boots to include the Sawmills (Which also get worn in wet/cold), which leather is not treated for water repellency so I tend not to wear them as often in the wet. These boots get treated and clean often and I make sure the water repellant coating is redone often. So mine still have the red coloration as when they were new.I have not had any issues with these boots so far. I will say the lining is NOT as comfortable as the one in the Sawmills. Itâs a little more plastic feeling (Which it is since GoreTex is a polymer) and also makes the feet a bit more moist (Despite the fact that GoreTex ... MoreLet me start by saying that I only wear these when itâs raining/snowing.I purchased them when they first released. Itâs a little more plastic feeling (Which it is since GoreTex is a polymer) and also makes the feet a bit more moist (Despite the fact that GoreTex is supposed to vent sweat). With the proper socks (Merino Wool) these boots are very comfortable. As far as the issues some are posted here:1. The tongue cutting. I personally have NOT had this issue. I got these last year and I took them for a long day walk on a raining NYE around DC for a break-in. I had zero issues. They were comfortable out the box. I am not sure if that is associated with some folks not being used to wearing boots or waiting for the proper break in period.2. Poron layer Shifting: I own several boots with a Poron layer. These, 1155, 2231, 2233, the later three which have an exposed Poron layer. Poron is really durable and in none of these boots it has come undone, or shifted. The 2233 are very old and have had a few resoles and they are one of my favorite work boots. My lady also has several pairs of lady RW heritage boots, all of which have a Poron layer and she has not had any issues and she rotates a couple of chelsea and a couple of moc toes. The chelsea are her favorite.I understand that defect can and will happen. I also understand paying 350+ for boots and wanting a perfect pair. But there is a middle ground. It is difficult to find labour these days and craftsmanship has declined slightly over the last few decades. RW tries really hard to keep a high level of quality control, but those finding defects are still human and things will happen.RW Heritage, for the money, still makes exceptional boots in the line. I still highly recommend them.
Iâve several pairs of hand made boots. Purchased these because of the Gor-Tex liner for backpacking/hiking. Immediately loved them. Very little break in (tongue needed to stretch a bit as Iâve tall feet) needed, and were comfortable out of the box. Spent some time in the heavy snow, and were water right. Go a half size down for sure. Iâve wide feet ( EE) but plenty of width in these. Look forward to taking these out into the backcountry, and feel confident with my purchase. Worth the $$$ for certain.
I got a pair of these for Christmas. I have two other pairs of Heritage Mocs. The Gore-Tex version runs slightly bigger, but (go figure) that seems to be because there is a Gore-Tex liner in them. The 10.5D I normally wear translate perfectly into the 10.5D Gore-Tex version. These are possibly the best pair of shoes I've ever owned in my life. Highly recommend if you can snag a pair. I've read a few negative reviews about degradation in Heritage Red Wing quality...no, not possible. You get what you pay for. These boots are a true, finest-example of American craftsmanship!
This was my first pair of Red Wings and I am incredibly happy with the purchase. A store employee mentioned these boots have an easier break in period due to a layer of cork in the sole (not sure if this is different from other boots) but this style has been comfortable from Day 1 and never caused any aches or blisters.I have worn them on rainier days so there has been a little water-staining on the boots, so if the primary focus is on fashion that may be something to keep in mind. The only critique is one I have seen other people make, and not necessarily boot related, but the standard laces were only just long enough to tie. I ended up getting a longer pair from Red Wing to replace the first pair and it has worked much better.
I am a big fan of Red Wing and this is my 5th pair of Red Wing leather boots. I was very excited to learn that Red Wing will have a Gore-Tex Moc boots and I immediately brought a pair. However, after conditioning the boot with Neatsfoot oil the and waiting the moment to wear the boots, I was very disappointed. The tongue hurts when I walk. I examined the boots and realized at the boot's tongue, next to the "Irish Setter Sport Boot" cloth label, the sewing of the Gore-tex, semi-circle brown leather material and the Oreo leather, there is a slight protrusion that makes the boots uncomfortable when I am walking. It feels lake a rope inside my boots when I walk. This is probably a design defect. My recommendation is to have the Gore-Tex, brown leather and the Oreo ... MoreI am a big fan of Red Wing and this is my 5th pair of Red Wing leather boots. I got these just in time for the fall and winter. The inside of the boot is fully lined, including the bottom, with one piece of material with the Gore-Tex membrane just below or within the material. These come with a footbed insert but it is below the lining/Gore-Tex which makes it un-removeable. The double dose of waterproof leather and Gore-Tex along with Red Wing staples like the gusseted tongue and storm welt construction should allow these boots in the city to easily stand up to Canadian fall and winters. The moc toe's colour is exactly as the pictures depict. I don't own a pair of 875s but as other reviews have noted, these are slightly wider and have a slightly taller?/larger toe box than the 875s.
