The Remington R4 Style Series Shaver seemed like an excellent shaver for a certain type of beard, however my beard did not benefit from the product. However, this product had a couple of features that would be quite useful such as the piece that clips on to get a one or two day growth look. My issue was that my whiskers are very course and perhaps too course for the regular use of this product as it took quite some time to produce a smooth look and feel. I feel as though when I was younger and had more fluffy whiskers, like when I was in my teenage years, this would not have been an issue. Initial thoughts: Product was packaged reasonably well. Instructions weren't overly complex, which was good as it held my interest as I usually stop midway through. First impressions - looks like a tidy good unit. Very happy its cordless and waterproof. My last electric shaver was probably back 10 years ago and this looks so much better. During 21 trial period: I'm lucky that I'm not overly hairy and can get by each week with only shaving 2-3 times. I really enjoyed the ability to use the Remington shaver whilst on the shower (massive plus) but I found that I wasn't happy with the 'after shave feel' - it didn't feel close enough when I felt how much stubble remained. I bought this item 2 days ago, and when I used it for the first time, I was very slow and I had put a lot of pressure and go over the same area several times in order to fully shave it. The pop trimmer is literally useless. Also it was horrible it irritated my skin, it was fine for my cheeks however when I used on my chin I got several cuts. Waste of your money, don't buy it, for the price $79 I expected it to be better.

Initial thoughts: the shaver feels like its made and built with quality materials. Nice rubber exterior makes it easier to hold and an ergonomic looking design. Upon initial use however, I found it to be less user friendly than my previous shaver (Philips brand) both at a similar price point. The shaver would nick on my skin around the upper lip area (and this was not limited to the first time) so I believe it may be the way I used the shaver. However cut quality was good and on par with my Philips shaver. On subsequent uses, I followed the instructions (a circular motion should be used) which I followed and found this to be better to prevent nicks. However I found it difficult to make circular motions, and less ergonomic upon use compared to my Philips shaver. The Remington R4 works very well, it doesn't cause any pain and most of all gives a fantastically close smooth shave. Apparently like all electric razors it takes a couple of weeks for your skin to get used to it, when seemed to happen quickly. There was a bit of dry skin at first, however one of the great things about the Remington R4 is that it is completely water proof and I have been using it in the shower when my skin is soft and the water can wash anything away. At full power this device sounded like it was run by hearing aid batteries. It was so slow with its blades it instantly gave me around 4 to 5 cuts on my neck. I persisted with using it until the end for the review but I could not use it a 2nd time. It left way too many rash scratches and cuts which I’ve never had before on any other shaver and left my skin feeling raw and attacked. I have an old Braun 5070 About 15yrs old which sounds like a buzz saw when switched on that leaves the skin silky smooth from a dry shave. I could tell just turning them on together just how weak this Remington was. Maybe I got a faulty device? Opened it up, looked good, thats about the only positive thing about it though. It works ok wet, but just ok. Does not provide a very close shave, but for someone looking to have light-mild stubble this may work well. The trimmer on the back was not great, kept ripping and tearing hair, felt more like an epilator than a shaver and got caught up and stopped shaving all together easily & frequently. Having a short beard the stubble guard was able to maintain my look and I was able to shave accurately with the R4 around the beard. The trimmer feature also worked well. I did find my skin took some time to adjust and while I thought my skin looked red, others when questioned, said it wasn't noticable. With a razor I suffered from ingrown hairs, and found they were a thing of the past with the R4. I was able to go over a week without needing to recharge. Overall a good close shave, with some accessories that can maintain some limited beard grooming. Summary - good razor. purchased to replace same model razor I bought from Farmers 5 years ago. Farmers delivery for new replacement was min 10 days you delivered within 3 days so you were the choice. I`m disappointed with the sale. I bought and paid $179.99 by the end of the week you priced razor at $99 and razor is still today at $99. That`s $80.99 less than I paid.
