I've been playing in bands for 50 years- the Remo Pinstripe has been a reliable tool when getting the sound I want from toms. Contrary to popular belief- although being 'dampened' with a control ring it is NOT 'dead' or flat. When tuned properly I get depth, tone and sustain. Whether in live situations or recording the Pinstripe delivers the tom sound I want. Other clear heads can sound 'plasticky' but the Pinstripe can be tuned deep and full.

This is the head I use for all my kits for the kick (bass) drum. It's got a nice balance of punch and depth. It's versatile for tuning options as well. You can get that deep guttural tone with some 'slap' to it or tune it for a bright, snappy jazz sound. The impact patch is a nice extra!

WOW! Used on a 2015 Ludwig Vistalite 26-14-16-18. Removes overtones and provides great, deep, warm and full sound. Easy to tune. Threw out all the moon gel and felt strips. Way better sound than Remo black dots. Brought out the full potential of the Vistalite 26" drum. Kept the Ludwig logo weather master on the reso side. Gives an awesome "thump" that hits you full force right in the chest, and still remains focused and articulate. This head handles double bass pedal work with no loss of note clarity or sound quality.Seriously unbelievable. Forget the 70's! These modern heads FINALLY unlock the TRUE potential of Ludwig Vistalites!

Many orchestra and concert band arrangements, jazz and lounge playing lead me back to the precision of this head. Whether it's rolling ppp at the very edge or circus crush rolls that have to project across an auditorium diplomats worked for me. If you have a good roll enjoy it.
These heads work exceptionally well for practicing on an acoustic kit. However tuning with these heads requires a very different approach from tuning drums with batter heads. I found them to work best with thin, single ply, resonant heads, because the mesh heads create far less pressure within the drum as opposed to standard resonant heads, Thin resonant heads will provide drum tone because they will vibrate with the lowered pressure created by the mesh heads. So far I have gotten the best response by using PET single ply as resonant heads.Multiple ply heads will not work well at all as resonant heads when employing these mesh heads on the batter side of the drum. Its easy to talk over the sound of these heads when playing them... which explains how loud they ... This is the best solution I have found to date, and I have used electronic drums, drum silencing pads, and other methods to no avail. Now I actually play my drums and keep my chops and tactile feel in good working order.I use the Remo Silent Stroke heads on an SPL street bop kit (under 200 bucks) with the PDP Z5 hardware pack and an extra cymbal stand. I also use the Zildjian L80 low volume cymbals. the combination is unbeatable for a practice kit.. Sure its an extra kit but it keeps me playing/practicing between gigs, and the family and neighbors are all happy campers. My SPL kit looks like the one below with Remo mesh heads and L80 cymbals
I wasn't sure exactly what to expect with these. I have always been a Remo enthusiast, but my go to has been the pintstripe. These emperors sound great, I didn't have to use moongel or anything on my kit, just tuned them up real nice. I purchased these for my entire kit batter side, as well as resonant for the kick drum. The toms and kick sound phenomenal, no different from normal Remo heads. The snare sounds prettt close, but there's something about it that's a little off. Doesn't have quite a snap. But still sounds great, especially in a lower tuning. Pretty happy with these, may experiment with other colors to see what looks best.
These are the worst drumheads I've ever had on my three ply Ludwig's. They actually made my rack toms sound like cardboard. No tone whatsoever. I purchased a complete set in standard sizes 12, 13 and 16 inch. The only Remo heads that I ever had success with were the black suede emperors with black ambassadors as my resonant heads. Most of the Remo heads I find very hard to install on my 3 ply Ludwig's as I find them very hard to set level while installing. With this said I decided to stick with the Evans level 360 series in coated G1 or G2',
Remo Pinstripe clear heads have been my go to on four different kits, both maple and birch, since the mid-80's. The thin multi-ply maple shell packs that started to become prevalent from the drum companies in the mid-90's mostly had "unusual" and sometimes inconsistent bearing surfaces that created excessive ring, and these heads with some carefully adjusted pieces of MoonGel, were/able to tame that ring and help focus the pitch of the drum shell. While Pinstripes are a little darker sounding than say an Emperor clear, this tone control feature is perfect for all toms, especially for some of the small picolo sizes, like I purchased here, in larger kits. I play Regal Tip and Vater nylon tipped sticks in mostly 7A and 5A sizes depending upon the venue and genre of ... Although I am not considered a heavy hitter, Pinstripes hold pitch and sound and look good for 1-2 years on kits played once or twice a week for up to three hours a night. These fit so many styles of music, and sound good with so many different brands of drums, it is impossible not to recommend them for your toms, and even your bass drum, with a good pflam patch(of course).
I love how the impact patch came with the head. What a genius idea. I could have used this with my previous acoustic drum set!! I would buy again and the bass head works like a charm. I think the price was a little on the high side but other than that I was really happy, now when I play my drums I get a crisp, clear punch. I am very satisfied with the product.
I'm a professional, gigging drummer. I have DW Collector's, PDP CM, and vintage Rogers kits. I play classic rock, funk, blues, country, new country, jazz-rock, and the P3 handles it all. Nice warm, deep tone with all types of wood shells. I've tried other heads including Evans and Aquarian, and I always wind up going back to Remo. Couldn't be happier.
