I am transitioning from my old favorites, the Clear Pinstripes, to these Ambassador Coated heads. My goal was to get more resonant sustained tone, with a bit more higher pitched tonal character and a bit less stick attack and more "round" stick sound. Mission Accomplished! These are perfectly matched for acoustic jazz and even heavier jazz fusion. Tuning is slightly higher than say Pinstripes which favor warmer tone range any way. If you're coming from Dual Ply heads, these will take some getting used to hearing. If you want to make your maple shells speak without interference, these with matching Ambo Clear resonant will give you a beautiful mix of mid and upper midrange tonality with a full melodical tone with sustain. I started using the coated Ambassador as a resonant side head . They cut the sub stain just enough. They and a focused sound.
