I was on my yacht in Monaco about to enjoy a Formula One race in which I am one of the sponsors. I have never been so dissatisfied with a Cognac. There is an oak aftertaste but it was not grandeur enough for my liking. Seeing the other reviews this does make for a good bargain. Good enough forthe one percent.

I tried this on a cruise recently. We first tried the Hennesy XO. For the price and my palate, I couldn't tell much of a difference between the two. So I can't recommend you buy it, but if you have the money to spend, it is a great Cognac

It was so lingering and very easy to separate the flower and fluits on the tongue and nose. I purchased this for my bar centerpiece. I will have this Louis XIII for years to come. My top 3 of 20 years of experiencing cognacs.

Tried this on a cruise, $100 per dink, which was a generous pour. I went into this drink comparing it to the Hardy Noces De Perle, which is about 1/3 the price, and a much better investment. I would concur with other descriptions of the nose, which was incredible, but the finish failed to deliver on the nose. I found the Perle to have a much better, and flavorful finish. Wouldn't recommend this for this price.
I don't know why TotalWine doesn't filter out the obviously ridiculous reviews.My wife bought this for my 50th when it was "only" $2500. Up to that time I had been drinking various XO cognacs which I thought were very good, but the Louis blew them away. After about 1.5yrs in the bottle it started to change and began to taste like those other XOs, still great but it had lost a little something. So don't wait!The taste is complex and continues to evolve on the tongue with a long finish. A few years after we finished the bottle we treated ourselves to a pour at a nice restaurant and had the same awesome experience. Whoever said it had a disappointing finish must have already trashed their palate with drinks or cigars prior to tasting the Louis.
I bought a case of this cognac and was thoroughly disappointed. The description clearly said this was matured in OAK casks, but there was no oaky aftertaste. No sir! If anything, I detected the slight taste of maple which clearly indicates this was matured in a maple cask. Terribly misleading. Looks like they'll make whatever outlandish claims they can to make the sale. I had to mix the remaining cognac with diet coke in order for it to be palatable.Also, the third bottle contained a genie who granted me three wishes, but each wish that was granted went horribly wrong and the genie tried to pass it off as some lesson. Worst. Genie. Ever.
The taste was off, very off. There was no oak taste indicating that this was not matured in oak casks. If it was then the cask was rotten. Nevertheless, for the great cost involved here I felt I did get a great deal. The last bottle I bought was in Paris and was aged in oak and did taste better. However it did cost $2,000 more for the same bottle. Sometimes even great cognac can be off but for the $2,000 difference I really can't complain. 1 star for the missing oak.
The absolute "Gold Standard" for Cognac. While there are many good brands out there, nothing comes close to matching the flavor and quality of Louis XIII. Truly amazing!!
I ordered a bottle of Louis XIII for my husbands birthday on 12/13/22. Paid for UPS Next Day Air. Which was expensive! They did not ship this bottle until 12/16/22!!!!! How is that good customer service! They comped me a small portion for the shipping but that was more of a serious after thought on their part AFTER I complained! My shipment did not arrive until 12/20/22! I emailed them again about my disappointment and received ZERO communication back. I will never order from this company again! Horrible customer service!Thank you for not delivering on time for what I paid for and making me miss my husbands birthday as I have no gift to give him!
When I received this cognac as a gift, I was delighted. That was until I actually tried it. I didn’t like the taste at all, but I have found a use for it. I now use as a detergent for my socks. It works phenomenally!
