Resident Evil 4 Wii NTSC Replacement Disc

When Resident Evil 4 came out in 2005 it absolutely blew me away. The game was and still is spectacular. On the GameCube it was a showcase for the processing power of the system, on the Wii the graphics look rather muddy and dated which is why players shouldn't pay more than the bargain price of twenty dollars for this game. When RE4 was initially released my only issue with the game was that it wasn't scary. Rather than dwell on the various merits or deficiencies of the game I decided to focus on just one aspect which is surely the biggest enhancement for the Wii version, that being control.Anyone who has played first person shooters on both game consoles and PC's knows that the PC is the undisputed king. The mouse/keyboard combination has never been equaled by any game controller. It's been a few years since I played Resident Evil 4 on my GameCube but my initial reaction was that the Wii remote was a sizable improvement. The Wii remote feels much more precise and intuitive than the GC controller but it still falls short of the mouse/keyboard combination. When you want to fire your weapon you need to hold the B button and press A. The problem is that when B is held your character is immobilized. The nunchuck controller switches from controlling your body motion to controlling the pivoting of your torso. You can turn in any direction for firing including up down, left and right but your feet are cemented to the ground so no running and gunning. Ironically even with both hand.

I still remember when RE4 first came out on the Gamecube. I was blown away; it redefined what the Resident Evil series gameplay was moving into; and it was just an all around amazing game. After what seemed like ages, Resident Evil 5 came along... and it was a disappointment; no need to go into the details, but as is generally agreed that it just misses what made the 'new' RE gameplay/design so good. The question that I then asked, was if perhaps my memory was simply a rose colored dream of how fun this game was, and it was my perceptions that had changed, not the game. The answer: nope.Resident Evil 4 is just as relevant today as it was when it first came out, and I still find this to be one of the most enjoyable, re-playable games ever. The Wii version is the third version of the game I have owned, and having extensively played the other two iterations, I can confidently say this is the best version of the game available. The reason I say this is because it combines the best aspects of the other two versions, plus some new, though minor tweaks. The Wii version has the extra content that was previously only in the PS2 version (including Ada's substantial Separate Ways campaign), but has the slightly better visuals of the Gamecube version. This version is also technically the best version, because where the GC and the PS2 versions supported only 480i resolution, the Wii version supports 480p. The difference is minor, let's not pretend here, but it does make it a little smoother.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is another smash success by Capcom, who can't seem to do much wrong with this series. The original was a major icon in gaming history and often considered one of the best games ever made, but the remake improves on essentially every aspect of it, changing elements in interesting and surprising ways that remain faithful to the original while making it simply better.Examples:-Gunplay is more dynamic, with new options such as parries, moving while a gun is drawn, and more.-Ashley's relationship with Leon and her gameplay incorporation are also both majorly improved. Ashley's growth in confidence throughout the game makes her consistently likeable and useful, and the changes to her system-wise, such as the removal of her health bar in favor of a downed state, make her feel less of a burden and more of a partner.-The other side characters, especially Luis, are also improved in a story sense, with excellent performances, stellar visual redesigns, and renewed writing. This also applies to the villains, such as Saddler, who has a much more religious feel and gravitas.-The changes to levels and progression make the game more well-paced than the original, already quite good in this area.-In terms of presentation, graphically the game is gorgeous with very granular graphical options that aid an already good optimization effort; music and sound are also quite good. There are, of course, some minor negatives:-Some performances, such as Ada's or Krauser's, seem to have lower audio quality and don't quite match up to the rest of the cast.-The level of improvement and change is inferior to that of RE2R. Of course this is because RE4 was already more modern to begin with, but you shouldn't expect too many major surprises.Overall, any fan of the Resident Evil series, horror, or action-adventure will want this game in their collection, and it's difficult to see how any future Resident Evil remake could hope to match such an amazing effort. Highly recommended to basically anyone who might be interested.

First thing - this game is really difficult for newbies to the gaming world. As adults with our first game system, we purchased several games in different genres for our new Wii system. We bought one of the other Resident Evil titles and loved it, so this one seemed like a natural choice due to the rave reviews and the first person shooter perspective. I love the graphics here - it's very easy to get sucked into the world and the feel of the game without question. Especially if you have the opportunity to set it up on a Hi-Def large screen television - gorgeous. However, this is a hard game! It's not a game for beginners unless you just enjoy frustration and shrieking at the tv and starting over again and again and again. It's not a game for beginners unless you just enjoy frustration and shrieking at the tv and starting over again and again and again. The little tricks and subtle ins and outs that long time gamers all pick up as they play game after game after game hours on end seem to be needed and assumed for Resident Evil 4. That in and of itself is not a dealbreaker, just something I wish I had known ahead of time - I would have waited and purchased this game later on. What ended up happening is we got frustrated and stuck at the first village, stopped playing the game for a couple of months, conquered some others, learned some gaming tricks in general and have now come back to Resident Evil 4 with a fresh perspective and attitude and we're enjoying it much more the second time around. So.... not a game a for first timers, but one worth playing when you've gotten your feet wet elsewhere first.

Playing really cool games that will addict you for hours on the Wii is hard to come by for some reason. Even though Wii consoles manage to continually sell by the boatloads, there still really isn't much offered in terms of content worth playing for adults on the console. Enter RE: 4 for the Wii. Yes, its the same game from the PS2 version. Yes it's the same in terms of graphical amazement. But what's different this time around is simply this: it's the same resident evil formula with crappy acting and random nonsense story lines that make this game just that much more awesome. And in terms of graphics, sure its no Madden 09 quality showing on the next gen consoles, but its still damn good for what its worth. So getting down to it, what makes it work? The control schematics is really really fun. There's something sinister deep down inside human beings to find joy to blast off a monsters head with a sniper rifle and have it splatter (stop lying to yourself you know you love it ^.~). Even though there was nothing wrong with the aiming mechanism on the previous consoles it was on before, on the Wii its more reminiscent of the house of the dead series and arcade shooting style type of games. It's even more fun when you have accessories like a perfect shot as well... it just well feels more realistic and accurate. So what are the pros and cons then? Well for some, its the same game over again, so thats a drawback. And others will say you move around to slow and etc etc. But on the.

As the other reviews would lead one to believe, this is an amazing game. I've spent the majority of my gaming days (the last 10 years) on high-powered PC's with cutting edge GPU's, but after purchasing the Wii this year, I'm not sure I'll ever feel the need to go back to it. Part of what makes this game so awesome are the Wii controls and how well the developers integrated them with this port. After only a few minutes of play, everything felt intuitive and natural. After an hour or so, controlling Leon was almost automatic in the way that controlling him on a keyboard and mouse combo would be. I didn't have to think about the controls, which allowed for greater immersion into the game. I didn't have to think about the controls, which allowed for greater immersion into the game. I sincerely hope that any future games of this nature (action/adventure shooters, both first and third-person) take heavy notes on the way RE4 was done.Aside from the Wii specific control feel, the game itself is outstanding. The story is immersive, the action and pace are perfect and the difficulty is just about right (though hardcore gamers might find the initial difficulty a little too easy). At the end of the game, I logged in just over 21 hours save time and I was entertained from start to finish. And after finishing Leon's story, the two Ada side-games became available. Operation Ada is short, sweet and pretty much to the point (I completed it in well under an hour), whereas Separate Ways is a bit longer (5 hours or so). Both are as enjoyable and interesting as the rest of Resident Evil 4.

Overall, I enjoyed this game. I purchased this game long after it's debut, for a fraction of what it originally cost. Due to that fact, my expectations were lower. However for the most part, there is a pretty good game here that is still relevant in 2010. This game has received critical acclaim but my purpose here is to warn you of a few warts in the game design so that you can make the best possible decision regarding purchasing the game.Basically, the game features "tank controls" which may initially frustrate you in today's world of intuitive, responsive controls. Ammunition for the weapons is relatively scarce, and you'll have to scour the game to keep your reserves up. Ammunition for the weapons is relatively scarce, and you'll have to scour the game to keep your reserves up. Expect to do a lot of inventory management, "Diablo" style; where you must position items that take up specific amounts of space or sell/discard what can't fit.One of the biggest disappointments for me with this game was the lack of precision headshots. Placing the targeting reticle's "pin point" on an enemy's head from a few feet away should immediately drop common enemies, but unfortunately there is some backend "critical hit rate" that prevents the player from using their skill to save ammunition. As a result, it leads to frustratingly wasteful battles of shooting people in the head only for them to clutch their face and then continue forward; despite the fact that they should be dead from a head shot. The upside is that the battles are somewhat frantic, the player get's to travel to some interesting loc.

I was shopping around in retrolio, looking to purchase a game that I could play on my Wii during the Summer. I came across this game, one praised back in 2004 as being one of the best games for the Gamecube. I decided to purchase this game, and even after all this time, the game still holds up today. What I Liked:-The graphics: While not the most attractive looking game, especially in 2012, it still does what a video game should do, and that is to immerse a gamer.-The deep customization: This game will always have you think about what you should purchase for the future (i.e. Should I upgrade my Shotgun or should I buy First Aid Sprays).-The great story: This game has a simple story. A government agent tries to rescue the President's daughter from a village in Europe. ... MoreI was shopping around in retrolio, looking to purchase a game that I could play on my Wii during the Summer. A government agent tries to rescue the President's daughter from a village in Europe. Of course not everything is as it seems. I never played any of the other games in the series, but I could follow the story pretty well. There are some cliffhangers at the end, but it's a story that is perfect in camp and horror.-The replay value: The normal game took me about 20 hrs to get through, and after that, there is access to another difficulty, and new game+, an expansion to the game, and a survival mode. This game will keep you busy for quite a while. What I Disliked:-The Controls: The controls are actually pretty responsive, but there are some times where you need to waggle the Wiimote in order accomplish some things. I did not like that.-The trial and error: There are some parts of the game that you will d.

This was the first Wii game I ever owned out of my now 20+ game collection, and it is still my very favorite!Game control, shooting accuracy, cut scene movies, voice acting, everything - was perfectly done. The merc mode adds unlimited replayability to this game. You can play some of the RE series' most classic characters such as Wesker, Krauser, and Hunk - each of whom owning his unique set of weapons and combat skills.I gave my like-brand-new game to my buddy as a gift when I thought I was done with this game, but I can't help with buying another copy of this game just a couple weeks later because I missed it so much! It's just worth keeping for a lifetime and countless plays.[UPDATE 12/14/11]I just couldn't resist buying a PS3 later because I HAVE TO play RE5. I also wrote reviews on RE5 and RE5-Gold (from hereon just RE5) respectively after months of play. I did not like how RE5 lacks the originality that makes RE4 such a standout success, although I do certainly appreciate the depth & replayability of RE5's Mercenary mode. In one occasion I just happened to pick up my Wii remote again to play RE4. My impression is that although obviously much inferior in terms of graphics (I mean big times; Wii does suck in that department), RE4 is still a pretty decent action game after I played the successor. I like RE4's plot a lot better and the fact that it sometimes creeps me. In that aspect, RE5 feels almost inadequate as it didn't do much more than just cookie-cutting the.
