I was never a huge fan of the resident evil series, but after having some money to spare in my steam account i hesitantly bought RE7. I figured I would just give it a shot and see how it was. I Absolutely loved it. I finished the main game and was in need of more Resident evil biohazard content, and boy did this deliver. Every single bit of all DLCs is filled with content that one could enjoy for at least 30 hours. Highly recommend the game, and highly recommend the DLCs with it.

It's Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets Saw meets every found footage movie, meets every other horror movie ever made. It would probably be easier to list famous movie properties that RE7 doesn't take direct inspiration from. After a hideously prolonged, hyper-cinematic, mostly hands-off opening, you're tossed into some sort of Condemned meets Outlast run, hidey survival horror affair, until finally you're just mowing everything down and facing off gigantic bosses.I think it's pretty impossible to play this game and not have some significant issues with some major portion of the game, because it's just trying to nab too many audiences at once, and the end result is that you'll probably enjoy about 30% of the game and find another 30% tolerable. The last 30%, whether that's the runny hidey bit, or the cinematics and shallow puzzling, or the combat gauntlet, that'll probably irk your senses. Chuff your muffins. Slap your biases. The 60% that you do like, you'll probably like quite a bit. I thought the movement speed was too slow, but that the combat was fun and that the puzzles were fun, but didn't care for the "let's pretend we're not a cutscene so you can't skip" opener or runny-hidey bits. It's a buffet of a game, where you're legally obligated to take one of everything there instead of just going for the bits you do like. What's there is good, nice atmosphere, sounds, the two enemy types are a bit laughable but I enjoyed using the upgraded guns on them, but it's not a game I ever see myself replaying, or recommending with any enthusiasm. You'll probably get caught in the giant net Capcom is casting to get the widest possible audience, give it a look - but the result is that there's going to be giant stretches you're checked out during.

Graphically exceptional is a game that keeps you glued to the video transmitting you the right anxiety typical of this genre of games. Very far from the previous chapters set mainly on the shoot everything, it reminds the older ones like me, the first versions released for the previous consoles where it was necessary to put a little effort to solve the puzzles that came up and move on in the game. Very very nice!

Resident Evil 7 pays homage to where the original crafted the survival horror genre that so many fans know & love. A true modern survival horror done extremely well, if you're looking for that next title to do that genre justice look no further. The game play is a mix of old school with new school elements that takes the player on a thrilling and horrifying journey.PROS:-Graphics are jaw dropping. Sharp, detailed, and extremely unnerving textures & lighting.-The various creepy sounds you'll hear throughout this game will keep you on edge the whole way through. The soundtrack is extremely well done I feel, and was very subtle yet powerful in regards to enhancing the experiences and scenarios.-The game play is actually extremely fun. The soundtrack is extremely well done I feel, and was very subtle yet powerful in regards to enhancing the experiences and scenarios.-The game play is actually extremely fun. Killing enemies is actually extremely satisfying despite the fact that the best option in combat scenarios often at times is fleeing._****THE STORY***** literally the best part of the game in my opinion. The whole time my cousin and I played this game we kept theorizing what would be the situation or what would happen next and we could not pin it at all. The fact that this story leaves you in complete mystery compared to Resident Evil 5/6's painfully obvious story arcs was a very pleasant surprise and quite the thrilling experience to unravel.-Had some Resident Evil 4-like gruesome deaths. I didn't experience nearly the amount that was in RE4 but the few that I did see were pretty......intense.-There is some replay value in regards to a key point of the story. Not going to give spoilers so take my word for it, especially if you care about the story then it would be worth going through again for this point alone. Also to try again on a harder difficulty setting because why not. I mean I guess you could just YouTube it after beating the game to find out what the difference is but that takes the fun out of it!
I am a huge fan of horror games and this one did not disappoint. I’ve played this game over ten times and it is amazing in VR. I love all of the puzzles and having to search to find items, the graphics are amazing and the storyline is great. I love this game and it will always stick out in my mind as a game that I really enjoyed playing. I actually smiled when I finished it the first time, I had a great game playing experience and I personally think it’s the greatest horror game out there.
My god.. Capcom did it. They saved the franchise. I'm honestly shocked. When the first teaser dropped I thought for sure this would just be a P.T. copy which I was sort of okay with. Turns out I was wrong. This is a classic Resident Evil game. Like, RE1 classic. Complete with puzzle solving, INVENTORY MANAGEMENT, and tense stressful boss encounters. The game brings back the storage box system even! I can't stress enough how amazing this game is as a long time RE fan. If you're one too, do yourself a favor and pull the trigger on this one. Best game since RE4.... May even be better.
I am not a resident evil "Fanboy" but i like to play Action/Adventure/Survival Horror type games. This is an average game at best... The protagonist you play as comes across as an emotionless robot, even losing a hand doesn't bring a convincing reaction. And the games is severely lacking in creature variety... There are like 3 creatures and some bugs... Seriously capcom? The few puzzles the game has are hilariously simple... And the "Horror" aspect is very poorly executed. Sure you get the occasional startle, but its nothing like deadspace or doom. There isn't that constant suspense that creates that deep emersion. It is VERY tame for an M rating in this category. And the story... It just doesn't make you feel invested in the outcome like it should. And the ending's are Very generic, probably because there are bery few things you can do to affect the outcome. There was one decent twist at the end, but anyone that reads all the paper's lying around and looks at the random photos littering the areas, knows its coming before a third of the way through it. Honestly, i would have rather saved the money and watched a YouTube play through...
Like many longtime gamers, the Resident Evil series is near and dear to their hearts. Ive played the entire series, and some of the installments, many times over. However, the installments since Resident Evil 4 (the best in the series), have lost the it factor that made the series unique. Resident Evil 5 moved more action based, and Part 6 was all action, that the series lost the horror element. Not Resident Evil 7. This game changes the formula to a first person based game, but goes back to the tense, ammo scarce, horror game that the series was yet adds new elements to the game. This game takes influences from western and eastern horror genres, and melds them into a intriguing, and immersive, story. This game changes the formula to a first person based game, but goes back to the tense, ammo scarce, horror game that the series was yet adds new elements to the game. This game takes influences from western and eastern horror genres, and melds them into a intriguing, and immersive, story. Looking at the game you ask, is this a Resident Evil game in title only? The answer is no but be aware that this is in the same universe as you come to expect. Graphics: Breathtaking 9/10 The graphics are make you look twice anyone fans of found film movies, or even the torture film genre, will find the visuals in this game well done. Take some time to watch to look at the detail of the environment. Little touches in lighting, leaves, pictures, and shadows really take this game up a notch. If playing in 4k/HDR, this looks as if you are playing a VHS video, and the environments look real and full. Sound: Amazing 9.5/10 The sounds, music, effects, and voices take you immediately into the game and you can get lost into it. Surround sound / headphones are a must so you can hear the uttering, chanting, and footsteps in this fun house of a game. The sounds are enough to make you yell out loud. Gameplay: Spectacular 9/10 Smooth animations, smart A.I., brilliant level design, and different possibilities for battles make this game fun. Easy puzzles, especially for this series, is the one thing that is a knock against this game. Younger gamers may not think so, but those familiar with the series will see that this is extremely easy. Overall, the gameplay is different from the past, and in a good way. The first person perspective is a refreshing change of pace and the dialogue / story is well thought out. Replay Value Amazing 9.5/10 Even without multiplayer, this game has high replay value. You get to choose your own path, make your own choices, all which affect the outcome of the game. The game will take you anywhere from 12 to 16 hours to complete, but you will want to do it again. Overall Near Perfect 9.5/10 I am a fan of First-Person-Shooters (FPS) and all that is associated with them. This is a FPS technically, but it is so much more. It takes a tired, lost Resident Evil series, and breathes new life into it. It may be FPS, but it is survival horror and scavenging that the roots of this series introduced 20 years ago. The story details and ideas that went in this game prove that the mix of Western horror and Eastern horror can mix in story telling There are a few quirks in this game, but it was fun. Resident Evil 7 is labeled as a survival horror first person shooter, but it is so much more. It takes a tired series and made a game that I am recommending to everyone. It was such a surprise that I have not felt this way about a game in years. It has elements taken from past RE games, such puzzles, jump scares, scavenging, and action-adventure, and brings it to the now not a tired old Umbrella story. Spending time with this game, it is apparent that Capcom wanted to create a statement, also to create a cinematic game, and different experience in a game one not felt in a Resident Evil game before. RE7 took a chance to be different, and it worked. This game is gorgeous, involved, and deep - and it is not the same experience for everyone. The experience and horror is different for each user, which just shows you how much time and thought went into this game. With this much depth, it is hard to compare it to something else out right now, and you cant. It is the perfect January release for when game releases slow, the lull of winter sets in, and the year is just starting. Typically, when I play a game that I truly enjoy, I have a wow moment maybe two. This game made me do that several different times. Maybe they werent WOW moments - more like OH SH$# moments. This game is definitely worth checking out, and I hope that it does not get lost in the with an early spring release, but for 2017, it is already in my GAMES OF THE YEAR list.
The complete edition of a fantastic return to form after the disappointing 6th entry. With a focus on survival and exploring cramped areas with dangerous enemies, the fear is even stronger in first person mode. Interesting environments and puzzle elements bring back the feel of the original games. The Baker family make for an entertaining set of antagonists that you battle throughout the game, with Jack stealing the show. The lack of enemy variety and a proper mercenaries mode are a bit of a downer, however the gold edition adds all of the dlc with the highlights being the 2 story additions. Though not perfect it is one of the high points in the franchise and well worth checking.
The whole Resident Evil Series was (in the eyes of many) dying due to some past games which won't be named... 5 & 6... were leaning to far into the action shooter franchise. BUT THIS, RESIDENT EVIL 7, IS ART! Resident Evil 7 is a hole new level of Resident evil! sure Ethan (main playable character) is a bit of a blank slate in need of more emotion but that doesn't tarnish this game in the slightest. The story is hands down amazing, due to spoilers (if you haven't played it... wait, why haven't you played it) I won't be revealing anything about the story though... The enemies are straight up nasty, but in a "you're so scary its cool" way, I love how they are basically semi-sentient chunks of mold, ITS FREAKING AWESOME! The only problems I have with this game, is the lack of enemy types (which has now been fixed by the DLC), and the fact that there is not really enough replay value. And if you think the game is to easy, there is an even harder (but slightly shorter) mode tucked away in the extras menu, it is ridiculously hard though, you have been warned... All I want to do is talk about this game more, but if I did this review would be five IRL meters long if you decided to measure it from top to bottom.Short answer? get this game
